CAGbag: Get your questions answered on CAGcast

What are your guys thoughts on the Gears of War 3 Season Pass? Will you get it since it will include both single player and multiplaye content?

I just played the Bodycount demo and it was one of the worst demos I've played in a long time. All I took away from it was that the game has clunky aiming, no strafing while looking down the sights, and a skillshot system that Bulletstorm already did better. Have any of you played it? Any thoughts?

Mention on Cagcast?, as he pretty much is the biggest Sony fan we have and a very active Cag. Thread http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8747473#post8747473

[quote name='Paco']As you all know, The Mana Knight is one of Sony's biggest supporters. This man has spent tens of thousands, perhaps even hundreds of thousands on Sony products from the five Playstation 3s he owns, the Xbox 360 that he did a 360 on and walked away from to play his PSP GO, and rumor has it that he owns five Net Yarozes and tried to make a Jrpg on the original playstation which was to be a spinoff of the original mana knights from Final Fantasy Adventure on the gameboy.

All kidding aside, we have to really help our friend. If there's a chance we can get the mana knight on the show why the hell not? Lets help our CAG brother reach for the stars.

Yes it is real.

GO MANA!

So CAG, a call for votes is required. Let us get our friend The Mana Knight as Gov'na Playstation for Season Three!

Cheapy,
What happened to building a gaming PC? For a few hundred dollars you can build or buy a rig with enough power to play any recent or future release at 1080p and 60fps, and easily hook it up to your media center and play with a controller on your couch. Games like Battlefield 3 with 64 players are leagues better compared to their 24 player limited, sub-HD looking console counterparts. Also, how much weed did you smoke at E3 this year?

With Gamestop's recent Deus Ex PC debacle over the OnLive coupons, I've been thinking a lot about streaming video game services.

If anyone is in a position to jump on the streaming videogame market, it has to be Netflix. OnLive has definitely had a slow start and it seems Netflix has huge advantages if they decided to offer streaming videogame service (like a massive subscriber base, tons of cash, and favorable contracts for game devs).

This would obviously erode their relationship with current console manufacturers if they started offering streamed gaming, but what if Netflix could somehow release an AppleTV-like box that could also stream video games?

I've never been tempted by GameFly snail-mail services, but video games streamed via my Netflix account? I'm listening.

PS: Shipwreck, I saw your tweet about your new OnLive console... impressions?

1. Will data caps being imposed by ISPs cause a dent in the migration to digital downloads? AT&T DSL caps at 150GB. 2-3 blueray games or next gen xbox games put a pretty good dent on that.

2. For Shipwreck, did you hear anything firm at PAX regarding a new/third conference? Are they looking internationally or another region (ex., PAX South-Atlanta; PAX North-Chicago)?

With Achievements and Trophies, do any of you feel like part of a game is missing when you play through it a second time and not get the pop-up notifications?

Do you guys think Nintendo is redesigning the 3DS so it can be used as a second controller on the Wii U. All This talk about a second analog stick would make much more sense if that's what they were going for.

Cheapy, when I use the game search option for sports games, it would be nice if say putting NCAA in the search window, the most current game would pop up first in the window. I know I can click through but it's inconvenient having to scroll up and down looking for the game I want. Also, typing NCAA 12 doesn't bring up NCAA 12 in the window. A required search finally netted me the title I wanted. So the question is, with the new version of CAG coming soon, are you looking in to improving the search mechanics to provide a more convenient experience for users?

For the panel,

I would like to get the panel's opinion on the Platinum/Greatest Hits version of Battlefield Bad Company 2 (which is MSRP $19.99) NOT coming with the VIP Code. I know it doesn't because I rebought it since it was cheap and there was no code in it.

There are also still copies of the Ultimate Version in stores for $40 that have the game, VIP code, and Battlefield 1943. Shady practice by EA or good business?

Cheapy, how was club Tits?

on to the real question

With all these AAA titles releasing this holiday season and being the poor college student that I am, I can't buy them all right away obviously. So my question is of all the AAA titles for the holiday season which ones do any of you think will drop in price the fastest?

With the influx of multiplayer options in video games, are there any specific multiplayer experiences you're looking forward to in the near future? Horde 2.0 gets my vote, but I'm sure Assassin's Creed and Saint's Row will also make sure my ISP stays in business.

For the panel,

Would like to get your impressions on Dead Island sales. It seems like KMart, Gamestop, and Best Buy stores across the country are sold out onfit from reading the threads in the deals forums.

If game developers made more games like "Rise of Nightmares" do you think that it would help the kinect to sell to a more older audience, yes or no?

This is for all the hosts:

How has your taste in gaming changed over the years? Would you say you play games differently? For example, you opt for the easier difficulty, you are more/less competitive in multiplayer games, gotta-collect-everything mentality, etc.

Hi guys-

A couple things- 1, nice to see Mrs. Cheapy tweet for once, too bad it was to cut your balls off, denying you that Forza 4 wheel. Bummer.

2: I was curious if you grabbed a Capcom girl promotional DVD, and if so, what was on it.

3. When Magicka went on sale yesterday ($2.48!!), did any of you buy it? I think Wombat would like it.

I'd honestly like to know how they balance their video gaming hobby along with their families and regular day-to-day jobs. Has that influenced their gaming purchases or habits? Now that I'm fully supporting my wife and new baby I enjoy handheld (PSP/DS) gaming a lot more and am really looking forward to the PS Vita. Quick, cheap gaming (iPhone apps) are cool and have their place but I really enjoy the deep and immersive games that I can play and pause at any time now that my gaming time is more limited.

Hey guys I was wondering if you think the end is near for the Move? I have been waiting for the killer app, and it just doesn't seem to be coming. It seems Sony's inability to release a game specifically for Move has made it a "hey we have motion controls too!" type of deal. Your thoughts would be great.

and where the hell is Sorcery?

Hey Guys. I want to know how Shipwreck knows rockstars like Jason Isbell! That was totally bizarre seeing Isbells tweet on the CAG feed.

Cheapy, How was the X-Box turn out at Tokyo Game Show? Has it dwindled in the past few years since many stores in Japan are discontinuing Microsoft's products? Can you compare Microsoft's presence at Tokyo Game Show compared to their presence at E3? Does it seem that they are giving up in Japan and focusing in more lucrative markets like Europe and United States and other countries?

Even though I know you guys ar not gaming on PC, and not especially interested in MMORPG I still wonder if you guys have some kind of thoughts and excitement aroundt Funcoms Secret World, especially since it's also said to be in development for x360. The trailers shown have been insane. :hot:

Hey guys

I thought I'd give some thoughts on how "cheap" iphone gaming is. Everyone talks about how cheap a 1 dollar game is. But rarely is it mentioned how expensive the iphone is.

So here are some numbers.
iphone ($440) + 30 games ($30) = $470
but if an iphone cost what a 3ds costs. . . what would the REAL price of the games be.
3ds ($170) + 30 games (x) = $470
x = $10
The games really cost $10 thanks to the overpriced system.
And if you play less then 30 games, you're paying even more per game.

That's also not counting that a 3ds will likely last you 5 years, far longer then an iphone.
Apple has tricked far too many people to think that their games are cheap. But they really aren't.

Cheapassgamer should warn people what these games really cost.

Can you guess acknowledge the difference between mags and clips. I've herd it a couple times on recent cagcasts and just thought maybe you would like to know there is a very big and simple difference between the two.

A simple google search turns up tons of info, or this is a good short description.

When I hear someone say they need another clip for their ar15 it makes me cringe. It would be like hearing someone refer to your ps3 as a nintendo station 64.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Nintendo surprised evereyone and had a battery pack included inside of the 3DS slider that would extend the current battery life? Maybe a 3rd party will invent that.

Do you guys really think there will be no handheld market in the US? I am going to be 31 years old in a few days and I honestly hate cell phones. I only carry a cell phone for emergencies and would never think of playing iOS games.

I have been shown iPhone games and they just have no appeal to me at all. They all seem like games you would want to play for a few minutes at a time and get get for free or pay a dollar for. The people that want cell phone games are not the people that want portable console games, they are entirely different groups of people.

Cell phones have become nothing more than something to brag about. People want the newest most awesome phone and then look for uses to justify showing it off. Whipping it out to play angry birds or to farm on their facebook farm is not a threat to the DS or PSP quality games. I will gladly pay 40 bucks for a real game Vs. downloading the newest gimmicky touch screen cell phone crap game for free.

Hey Cheapy,

I was listening to an old podcast about Japan (might have been the CAGcast or another podcast can't remember) and they mentioned Kancho. Do people still Kancho in Japan or is that fad over?

Have you ever been Kancho'd?

When do you think the next gen consoles will release? And also do you think they will allow us to download a full game alongside the retail version day 1?

Any chance of a wheel of COD: MW3 contest kinda like the Wheel of Halo contest you had? Prizes could be the MW3 console bundle, hardened edition, reg. edition, Modern Warfare 3 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth support, and avatar marketplace items, and Mtn Dew XP codes could be on the wheel.

Just listened to the start of Cross-Border Gaming Podcast in which CheapD was a guest......Cheapy that was cringe worthy. Those guys put the ERD in NERD. I felt sorry for you. Plus the image of the one guy wanking to Japanese porn ended it for me. And the awkward silence was the best part of the whole show.

Hey Cheapy, Wombat and Shipwrek,

Love the show, have been listening for more than three years now. Two questions:

Cheapy - I got an offer to move to Tokyo, and would love to get your thoughts on safety. My friends sent me news clips on Youtube (originally from reputable source) of the radiation. Are there things you do to prepare yourself? I see people buying radiation detectors, do they work? Thanks for answering this, it means a lot to me.

All - what is your favorite third person shooter game. I concluded recently that I lie 3rd person a lot more than 1st person shooters. A few recommendations (I have Mass Effect 2 and Uncharted 1 and 2 and plan to pick up Gears of War 3). Thanks!

Keep up the good work.

How are the CAG amazon pre orders for the PS Vita holding up? After the TGS press conference, I ended up canceling mine due to lack of any thing that struck me as a day one purchase. I'm still sort of interested in it, but I figure I can wait.

Cheapie, is it true you have turned green from the radiation and are currently consdering a pro wrestling career?

Shipwreck, do you sleep with a game under your pillow?

Wombat, have you ever considered playing a straight guy on the show?

OK kidding.... Wombat. I couldn't think of anything and just went with my first brainstorm.

Love you on the show. Definitely the best color commentator of vidgame podcasts.

Ship is one of the most informative honest straightshooters.

And Cheapie is cool.

BF3 rocks so far. Gotta bump on my pc because big pc gaming titles like this don't come around too often. It's an event.

Are you guys playing this on the pc? Ok I know the answer, but thought I would ask anyway because I love the BF franchise. Hunting humans virtually gives me a mental buzz what can I say.

Anyway I definitely relate to you all. The age thing, the kids thing and I have an BSEE degree so I can relate to Ship even though he plays more games in a week than I have played in the past 5 years.

i know none of you guys are interested in football ( soccer ), but will any of you guys try out FIFA 12 ? and has any of you tried out a FIFA game before ?

Gentleman,

My fear is Bioware's upcoming Star Wars MMO might be a bust. Worst case scenario, it bombs and loses millions: What will that due to Bioware's video game production line?

I'm sure it won't be good, but would it be enough to take them out of the industry? I hope not!

I wish they made a Mass Effect MMO, they had so much content already there!!

Hey guys got a question and something nerdy I want to share.
Question: My friends and I are spread all over the country and play xbox live and psn to still be able to hang out. We would really like to play something other than a shooter. I know it's too much to ask for a good RPG that has co-op (not counting Two Worlds 2), but is there a dungeon crawler or maybe adventure game that we could play that doesn't revolve around a look down sight mechanic. We mostly play in groups of 2-6 so something with drop-in drop-out would also be nice. Any suggestions? Oh and while your at it what's the answer to world peace?

Nerdy sharing: my son is 4 and just starting to play video games with me. We play Lego Star Wars together a couple hours a week. He absolutely love it. Figuring he would like the movies I got out the original trilligoy on DVD and asked him if he wanted to watch them. He loved them. We watched all three one a night before bed and his eyes were glued to them.
Proud of him I am. In my young padawan the force is strong.
That's all. Love the show guys. Thanks for taking your time to make it every week.

Hey there guys. Great show and site. I've been listening to you guys for a while now and noticed the Shipwreck is just as much part of the CAGcast as CheapyD. The thing is that he does not have a profile thing on the CAGcast page. Wazzapwidat? He does a crap ton of reviews for the site and managed to be on the show through CANCER. CANCER Cheapy! If that does not warrant a CAGcast profile I don't know what does.

BTW: who is that wombat guy on the CAGcast page?

Hey Cheapy, I was wondering what you would do if CAG went belly up and you had to find another job. Alternatively to Shipwreck and Wombat, if you could work for any game related website which one would you choose and why?

Question for Wombat. How do you get a 3 and 4 year old to play Kinect without them running up to the tv and wailing on it. I've been trying to get them to play Kinect adventures when it was too hot to go out here during the summer so they got some exercise, but without any success. So, help, please.

With the release of some high profile games like RE4 and Crysis, Ive been thinking a lot about Xbox LIVE's Games on Demand service. Why the hell do these not have some sort of demo/free trial period? I would be much more likely to buy if I could try it first.

With PS+, Sony offers a 60 minute full game trial for quite a few titles. This trumps the GoD service considerably in my opinion. Also, why can I not buy these games with MS Points? I really want to buy Crysis and RE4 on my 360, but I am one of those people that usually needs to try before I buy. I think putting a game on the GoD service instead of XBLA significantly limits its market. What do you guys think? Is this something MS could learn from Sony?

Hello I really enjoyed the show.

I recently picked up the hunger games trilogy when it went on sale for around $5 and I am really enjoying it. The premise seems pretty similar to the book Battle Royal. Have you read/heard of that book? I would highly recomend it (http://www.amazon.com/Battle-Royale...778X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1317830753&sr=8-2) Doesnt look like it is in digital format though. There is a manga of it as well that is really well done. The art itself is really well drawn and is an interesting style.
I have also read alot of Orson Scott Car's books including Ender's game. The book Ender's Shadow branches the story off - telling pretty much the same story but from Bean's perspective with the story centering on him and his struggles. It is a unique perspective and I really enjoyed the books with him as the central character. Have you played Advent Rising? He had a hand in the story, and I think it really helps the game. Although it has a huge amount of bugs I really liked that game and have it for pc lying around somewhere.

thanks for reading!
