Ok, this is my understanding of FSB (Front Side Bus). It is the speed at which the system as a whole is running at. A Intel e6300 runs at 1.83GHz based on a FSB of 266 X 7. Intel Motherboards are quad pumped, meaning 266 X 4 yields a FSB of 1066. Newer Motherboards and Intel chips will support a FSB of 1333 or 333 X 4. If you overclock your older 1066 FSB chip like an e6300 to a FSB of 333, isn't that really the same thing? Why would you need a motherboard that "supports" a 1333 FSB when you can overclock a motherboard that supports a 1066 FSB. I don't see the difference.
So can a motherboard rated for 1066 fsb, take advantage of a 1333 fsb?
No way to know without testing it.

or read a review of someone else who tested it. Why risk it yourself? ;)

The three best websites that I use for all things PC related:

anandtech.com

tomshardware.com

arstechnica.com

Anandtech does motherboard & chipset 'roundups' where they review a bunch of similar products to determine which are the best. And overclocking ability is one of the things they check.

Also, you have to keep in mind that you might have to lower your RAM timings to maintain stability, which could negate any potential increase in performance from a higher bus speed.

the FSB is the bus that connects the CPU to main memory on the motherboard. you increase it when you OC, and you must increase the voltage as well to keep it stable. and have a heavy duty cooling solution (HSF [heat sink, fan] & thermal compound (Arctic Silver is the best) depending on how much you OC it.

also, the motherboard you use, and quality of the RAM will effect your potential results as well.
