Can I do this if I install Windows 7 ?

I recently bought a Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade disc from another CAG.

I bought it thinking I could sell it on craiglist or someplace similar.

But now I have the urge to just install it to replace my windows XP.

So my question is : Can I somehow keep all my games (steam games) without having to delete this by formating the hard drive while upgrade to windows 7 ?

I have a very slow internet connection and it would literally take me weeks to redownload all the games I have.

thanks

one more thing can I somehow move all the game files to an external hard drive and bring them back to the main computer harddrive after upgrading to windows 7 ?

Because your working with XP I think you lose all your information. If you upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 it's possible to keep your games when it does the upgrade.

At least I think that's how it works. Sorry I'm no expert.

You could always back up your games to disk.
there's a steam backup utility you can use.

Backup your games, then move the backup to disc or external hard drive
AWESOME !!

where on steam can I find this ?
With the Steam UI open: Steam>Backup and Restore Games
thanks, but I cant seem to be able to choose a drive other than C (my main computer hard drive) how do I choose an external drive plugged up via usb .

If it's not allowing you to select an external drive, just back your games up to your desktop then move them over manually.
