Can I Download Rock Band stuff on PS3 with PS2 Hardware ?

Couldn't get a straight answer from the people at Rock Band so hope someone here can help, If I have the hardware from RB on the PS2, can I download stuff on my PS3 if I have the RB disc for the PS3 ? Feel free to PM if you want to. Thanks in advance.

From what I've read, the PS2 Rock Band instruments are exactly the same as the PS3 instruments, the only difference is the actual game disc.

Yes. If you have the instruments from PS2 and the PS3 disc, you will be fine.

One minor difference is the guitar on the PS2 version is wired, but that's about it.
