Today for the hell of it i loaded up my 2 GB tumb drive with a few videos and MP3's and tried to play them on my PS3 and the system wouldnt recognize anything on the USB device. Now i know i am probably doing something wrong, does the video and music have to be in a certain type? Any help on this would be very nice.

If you don't have the files in certain folders it wouldn't see them right away, so you might have to set it to "display all". Highlight the USB device and hit triangle and it should come out, then you can scroll through all the files on it.

And here are the lists of what the PS3 can play at this time:

The following types of files can be played under
in_music.gif
(Music).
  • Memory Stick Audio Format(ATRAC)
  • MP3(MPEG-1/2 Audio Layer 3)
  • MP4(MPEG-4 AAC)
  • WAVE(Linear PCM)
The following types of files can be played under

(Video).
  • Memory Stick Video Format
  • MPEG-4 SP (AAC LC)
  • H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile (AAC LC)
  • MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2)
  • MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM)
  • MPEG-2 TS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2)
