The best thing I can advise is to join a home schooling group most will give you discounts at book stores. When my kids were home schooled last year due to health issues, we joined HERI. It cost $60 to join but gave us 30% (I believe) off at Borders, Barnes and Nobles etc. It helped get the price of books down dramatically.
You may also want to consider Virtual Education (which is free) if your county has it. The schools provide all the materials and books, but you still do the teaching yourself at home.
