Run to Staples, $50 gets you a 2x1GB RAM upgrade, so for less then $300 after tax you can have a decent Celeron laptop with 2GB RAM.
PS, Format and install XP, you'll be better off. (This is my plan, as I'm getting this laptop + extra RAM)

Check out the Toshiba laptop w/ a printer for $229. It doesn't have great specs, but it looks to be the cheapest laptop this year. You better pitch a tent!
