[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

i think that you are right, but because the use the general public gives to club nintendo it seems to be only reaching platinum status and not registering games during the year, maybe that´s why a Luigi Statue appeared to be exchanged for coins and not as a platinum reward. in fact platinum or gold rewards are for everyone that reaches that point, but it´s not the same rule for regular rewards. so from an economic point of view it´s more practical to give better prizes in exchange for coins than give the same rewards for all the platinum members that seems to be more and more each year and at the same time force users to register the games and not let them sell the coins or save them for the future, because every montn a lot of CN elegible products appear, and Nintendo obviusly want all the consumer base to buy and register.
You know, Square Enix gives out ipods for their rewards. Just sayin'

no i didn´t knew, nice but i was just trying figure out why the platinum rewards are a little less appeal each year. because we can compare with a LOT of other companies and the ones giving you rewards are not many. :(

That would be great, too bad their website is impossible to navigate.

I can tell you why. It's because years back, just like with Square's loyalty program, they got bigger and bigger. Look at it this way (I'm just making up numbers as an example), the first year Square had their program, 5,000 people qualified for the ultimate reward, the custom engraved iPod. Next year more people heard about this new program and signed up, now 15,000 people qualify. The year after everyone wants in and now 50,000 people qualify.

Of course the rewards are only going to get shittier, there are more "mouths to feed" so rewards will be spread thin.

Orders for physical rewards are currently closed while we update our systems. But there's good news: We'll be accepting orders again starting May 13. We've also got great digital games that you can download instantly, so check 'em out.

I've been traveling the past two weeks and haven't been up to date with club nintendo. When did this start?

I would prefer physcial things over downloaded games/screensavers for Platinum rewards.

my Bowser statue plat. reward was awesome.

What if they gave Platinum level rewards a discount at a limited run figure say $x off a samus zero suit (only avaiable to Platinum) or they could chose some other items.

Very last day to pick your Pokemon game if you haven't.

Do I pick Y because it's my main game and so when I get rid of one of the two it's more likely to be X...

Or do I pick X because Y is my main game and then I can still switch Y between systems?

If I understand your statement correctly (I had to reread it a few times), you're suggesting that Nintendo should offer a coupon for a platinum reward, yes? If so, I think thats a terrible idea.

The first problem is that Nintendo tends to license things out, which makes these things tricky and since some of these items are only sold in Japan or very limited in nature, a coupon would require a lot of logistics. Like, Good Smile made two Nintendo Nendoroids and at least three figma figures, plus two more in the works. Out of all this stuff, I can buy three of the figma figures from GameStop, but not the Nendoroids. The other issue is that such an item would be very niche and appeal to very few people. The Zero Suit Samus figma is $100 at GameStop, so lets say we get $20 off (what platinum rewards typically go for) and that would drop it to $80. Yeah, this would be a win for some people, but I think more people would be put off by spending approx. $600 on Nintendo products to get a voucher for $20 off a very specific figure. Especially since a good number of people on CAG, who're mostly platinum tier people, don't care for the knick knack items like the Luigi figure, so this choice would be, for them, significantly worse than a lot of items actually offered.

Not sure if this was already mentioned but it looks like Nintendo is offering a free game if you buy and register Mario Kart 8 before July 31st.

That's a decent promo, admittedly. Wish Tropical Freeze was on the list.

Here's the list for NA:

New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD, Wii U Party

The Europe list destroys ours, like usual though. :/

Of the four, I'd probably pick Wind Waker HD, if I don't end up getting the Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle by then.

Does any one know if I start playing a physical copy game, in my case Zelda Wind Waker, and I get a digital version from this promo, can I load my save games to the digital version? I am thinking of selling my zelda ww physical, buy mario kart 8, and keep the digital zelda. Thanks for any info.

I would sell the digital download code for the zelda instead, but want to avoid any issues incase the code is tied to my account, if I sell it.

Decent?

Lol this promo blows any other promo out of the water. If all you need to buy is the game and not the console, that's one hell of a deal for a brand new release, and a first party Nintendo game at that. If the code works like the one included with WWHD bundles deluxe owners will get a free game and $5 back in eshop credit.

Nintendo is finally being a little aggressive with the Wii U. Nice to see, hope we see more.

By the way the MK 8 direct this morning was super dope, can't wait. The fact that you get a free game in addition is pretty rediculous.

The only reason I say decent is the selection. One of the games is junk, and the other 2 have been sold with Wii U bundles. Pikmin 3 is the only non-bundle game, and while very good, I think it's been relatively cheap lately.

The Europe promo is the amazing one. Much better selection (though still no Tropical Freeze):

New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, New The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Wii U Party, Sonic Lost World, Game & Wario, The Wonderful 101, Mario & Sonic at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics or Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

I have mixed feelings about this promotion... On one hand, I'm happy Nintendo is going all out, that I will get something for free (please don't fuck me over K-Mart! MK 8 + something + $35 in credit is just too awesome to not get!) and this will motivate more people to play things like Pikmin 3. On the other hand, I have a digital copy of Wind Waker HD, physical copy of Mario, sold my copy of Pikmin 3 after 100%ing it and don't have friends to play Wii Party U with, so none of the games really appeal to me (someone is welcome to make an offer for my game though!) and I am yet again left in the cold. Thankfully EU's bigger list ends with me having the same problem (though I would love a digital copy of MH3U), so it isn't like I just had a bad roll of the dice. Not sure what else to say, besides this is why you always fill out those intend to buys. It's impossible to predict getting a free copy of Pikmin 3 digitally from a promotion like this. xD

Wait, what K-mart deal?

That's only if you got the bundles. I didn't, and I've been waiting to get Wind Waker. This deal is amazing, really. I swear, only at CAG would you see people complaining about getting a free game (that retails for about $50).

How is that really complaining? Bobby's point is that it's an okay selection, but probably would have been better if half the games weren't from bundles. Like, if you bought a Wii U in the past 5 or so months, then you probably got Wind Waker HD for free or New Super Mario Bros. U for free and that would lower your selection to 3 games (in some cases 2 because the code from the WW bundle was going for about $20 and that was an insane deal, especially since many people bought the .30 NES games and the WW code resulted in them getting $5 back from the DX promo) instead of 4. The same isn't entirely true with the EU promo, since even if you had both NSMB & WWHD, you could still choose from 7 games that were never included with the console versus 2 (how many are really going to get Wii U Party?) in the US.

This one. It was listed as giving $20 in SYWR credit and many people were able to get it to stack with a $10 back on $50 spent promo for a cool $35.
yep i got in on that now im going to give that club code for some cash 25 to whoever wants it when i get it!! of course not in this thread the club code thread is going to be over flowing with these i think or maybe not we will see.

I have a huge question for you guys about 3DS's

I have two 3DS's

I want to transfer everything to my new 3DS XL, It says that everything will be deleted off of the replaced one,

does that mean I can't combine the Downloads I have for the two 3DS into one 3ds xl?

Does any one know if I start playing a physical copy game, in my case Zelda Wind Waker, and I get a digital version from this promo, can I load my save games to the digital version? I am thinking of selling my zelda ww physical, buy mario kart 8, and keep the digital zelda. Thanks for any info.

I would sell the digital download code for the zelda instead, but want to avoid any issues incase the code is tied to my account, if I sell it.
I'm wondering the same thing. Anybody know?

you should be since your sending from 2 but only getting on 1.

also some games do not transfer. you may want to call up nintendo

I figured out I can't if they have nintendo ID's.

So I will basically just have to transfer one.

and then maybe I would give a call to see about the other transfer

I was able to switch from retail to digital with MH3U with no problems.

I call bs. Amazing? That's hilarious.

I'm sorry but not one of those titles is more interesting or worth more than Pikmin 3, Wind Waker HD, or even NSMBU.

What title is Europe getting that you'd rather have? Most of the games (Game and Wario, W101, Monster Hunter) can be found easily at retail for $20-30. Those other games are mediocre to average at best. Hell, I plicked up Monster Hunter digital earlier this year for $20 and I'd say that's the only game worth even considering from the Europe list.

For me the choice is simple (between Pikmin 3 and WWHD). I'll probably go with Pikmin 3 since the game is not going to drop in price anytime soon (look at Pikmin 1 and 2 price histories, those games went UP in value over time) and it's a great game. I already own and have beaten the game, but it's nice to have digitally and I could sell my physical copy for $40 on amazon if I really want to.

I mean you just have to shake your head and accept that people will complain about anything Nintendo does. They could offer MK8 for free and people would complain that they are "forced" to buy a Wii U to play the game...

Me personally, I find it crazy that Nintendo is giving away a $60 retail game for something that most Wii U owners are buying anyways. I know it's aimed to spark new console sales, but it's really cool they are extending this to all current Wii U owners as well.

That's only if you got the bundles. I didn't, and I've been waiting to get Wind Waker. This deal is amazing, really. I swear, only at CAG would you see people complaining about getting a free game (that retails for about $50).
Admiralvic is right, I'm not complaining. I said it was decent. I am happy with the promo but it's not amazing or anything. The Euros got a better deal, but we still did alright for ourselves. It's a good enough promo that I'll probably buy MK8 in advance of owning a Wii U, that should say enough about how I feel about it.

I still wish I got that Kmart deal though, that's an incredible bargain. I'd be happy just getting $15 back on the game instead of the full $35.

Actually, if they offered MK8 for free with any Wii U purchase I would go out and buy one on sale in the next month or two. That would be an amazing promo.

Honestly, with the American choices, I'll probably go with Pikmin because non-bundled. Wind Waker HD is neat and all, but I kind of thought it was overpriced for a HD remake in the first place and I'm content with the original for the most part. If I could get a DL code for it with my Wii U purchase or for $20 separately, I'd probably bite though.

The reason I like the Euro selection is because if we had that selection, I would probably be torn between Pikmin 3, W101 and kinda sorta Sonic: Lost World. And when I said it was "decent", I wasn't just speaking for myself. What if a person already has NSMBU or WWHD from their Wii U bundle and already bought Pikmin 3? Not many choices left for them.

In your opinion...

What title is Europe getting that you'd rather have? Most of the games (Game and Wario, W101, Monster Hunter) can be found easily at retail for $20-30.
And the same isn't true for the others?

NSMBU can easily be found for $30 on eBay and I recall people getting them fairly cheap at Blockbuster and a number of other deals.

Wind Waker HD was averaging $20 - $25 back when the bundle released.

Pikmin 3 was recently $26.99 with GCU.

Even then, all these games will now tank in value as people sell off their physical copies and people plan on getting / selling their digital copies (supply/demand).

I mean you just have to shake your head and accept that people will complain about anything Nintendo does. They could offer MK8 for free and people would complain that they are "forced" to buy a Wii U to play the game...
See, this is the attitude that makes me fucking hate forum goers. Everything becomes an argument about something else. I mean, these are discussion boards, not some sort of anti-negativity interment camp where any opinion that isn't positive should be met with a rifle butt to the face until the person is coughing up teeth and blood. Seriously, this is a place for "discussion" and sometimes discussions aren't always positive.

There are reasons to be less than thrilled with this program and these feelings aren't wrong. These include already owning the game, watching the resale value plummet, wanting a game from another region or something else. But above all, people like you and the arrogant *****s that classify negative opinions as "entitled" need to realize that some people just want to get a "guilty pleasure" game. For instance, if TW101 might be cheap, but I might not want to spend cash / credit on it because I could spend that money on something I know I will enjoy. If I can get it for free from this promo, then I win. It isn't a matter of it being a great savings or me being able to resell a game I own for the power to buy it, it just becomes something that someone can rationalize, similar to how people constantly write off things like gift cards.

Me personally, I find it crazy that Nintendo is giving away a $60 retail game for something that most Wii U owners are buying anyways. I know it's aimed to spark new console sales, but it's really cool they are extending this to all current Wii U owners as well.
Now this I agree with, though I am still a little sad I own everything. I would have loved to see something like NES Remix 1 & 2 added, since I would love to play them, but not buy them.

Well fuck me.  Registered the Pokemon promotion on my daughters sub account not thinking anything of it but now I can't redeem it because she's under 13.  I Google the error message which tells me that CN customer support is entirely unavailable for at least another week because of their tech support migration.  I know it's my own damn fault for being indecisive and then forgetting until a couple days ago but it was like two weeks ago the support stuff became unavailable!

Still sending them an email about it not that I expect them to do anything about it.

Thats rough. Good luck getting someone to help!

Yeah, I'm not really expecting it but doesn't hurt to try at least. If I had realized that I would have to contact CS I certainly wouldn't have left it to the last minute. Even more so if I had realized that said CS was going to be unavailable for nearly three weeks and it wasn't just their physical item ordering that was down.

I think you'll get helped, since it doesn't do them any good to penalize you for something like this.

I actually wonder if it really Nintendo upgrading or if it is cause it is golden week holiday? and a lot of business in japan closes for 7 to 10 periods at a time during the holiday

Well they started upgrading their support system when they stopped taking physical orders and put the other digital rewards up. They also have some other less important areas unavailable for the same thing as well but their main support is still available. I'm sure they're support is outsourced anyway and likely wouldn't benefit from any Japanese holidays.

how many nintendo club accounts do you have?
I filled my family account. I do work on occasion for a local game store and often get games and systems in lieu of pay, so I have several 3DS systems. It helps with Streetpass, but really I only tend to play my 2 XLs. I did buy a 2DS for completionist sake (at least one of every model USA hardware since the original Brick game boy.)

* Starting on April 7, 2014, any newly registered Nintendo DS or Wii games (both retail and digital copies) will continue to receive product registration surveys, but no longer be eligible for 10-coin post-play surveys. In addition, starting on April 7, the deadline to complete newly earned post-play surveys for all games will be 30 days after they are issued.
Last week I went through my Wii/3ds games and put in enough codes to reach platinum status, calculating that there wasn't going to be any 10 coin post-play surveys for the Wii games. But lo and behold, I now have 10 coin post-play surveys for 4 Wii games (they expire August 23rd).

Doesn't that contradict the above message? I'm not complaining, this was a nice surprise, I just wish I had held off on entering my 3ds codes (because they could be part of future promotions like in the pokemon deal.)
