[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

I am in the same boat as everyone else. I don't mind having nerdy stuff up as an adult but at the same time I really don't want three Nintendo posters hanging in my kitchen or something haha

Probably will just nab Links Awakening though I hate being Platinum and just taking a Gold prize. Womp womp wompppp

No, no womp womp.

Grab the soundtrack to MM cagbro!

Probably will get the posters.  One of these days, I'll get around to framing all of the ones I've gotten from this program and actually hang them.

Much better posters than last year. Totally in for those.

And, seriously, I don't understand the complaints. This is a free program that Nintendo offers. You bought the games to, uh, play the games, right? This is nothing but an added benefit. I mean, I bought a shit-ton of Sony and Microsoft games last year, but the only thing I have to show for that is the games themselves. Getting pissed off and saying your FREE STUFF is 'nothing but a slap in the face' is ridiculous.

just like 007 just said seriously people need to stop complaining. first off look at square members program its no longer around and on top it was soooooo hard to gain platinum with that program. at least nintendo you have 100's and 100's of games you can register so for how easy it is to get platinum people need to quit complaining. your getting free items for something that takes you nothing to do and throughout the year you can use your coins to get more free items. the more people complain the more it could get shutdown.

Do you even know what Europe and Japan had gotten/getting this year/years past? Cost of shipping my ass. Like Nintendo America has never heard of drop shipping.

I love MM and that's a pretty classy package. I have zero room for posters at this point, but I'll prop that soundtrack up next to my signed Bastion soundtrack for sure.

first off look at square members program
Wrong. Look at the European and Japanese Club rewards.

It's really showing after the first two years, Club Nintendo U.S. has been cheapening out. We're not expecting extravagant things like a lifesize replica of Link's Shield, just something on par along the lines of the Mario Hat or that kickass Super Famicom controller.

Now look at what we're reduced to: posters or a CD for a game I personally don't even care about. At least the pins we got took some effort to make. It's like Nintendo is getting closer and closer to Microsoft with giving you a fucking lousy quarter for your birthday.

I'm glad I don't even have coins to redeem for the last year.

For all you defending Club Nintendo, why?  Look at our rewards compared to the things Japan and Europe get.  There is no excuse for us to choose between a CD or poster, while they get to redeem their points for way better stuff as well as getting way better Gold/Platinum awards.  If they can give out such good rewards for their customers that buy 10+ games a year in other countries, why can't they do the same here?

The free stuff they are giving us isn't good enough...rabble rabble rabble.
When you compare it to what the other Club Nintendo's get, it really isn't. They have the statue we got a couple years ago in stock for normal points. I really don't get why Nintendo can't step it up here with their rewards.

I oddly want both of the Platinum rewards.  I claimed the MM soundtrack.  If anyone doesn't give a shit about these and doesn't really want either, I'll give you something if you claim the posters.  PM me if interested.

Add me to the list of people that are disappointed. The posters are kinda cool, but I doubt they'd go up on my wall. I'm a HUGE Zelda fan, but I don't really have any interest in the MM soundtrack.

I'm seriously considering just getting Link's Awakening... This is dumb.

I'm surprised the CD is for Majora's Mask... Wind Waker would have made for better marketing synergy.
Yes and no. I think it'd be a little backwards to release the game this Winter and market it alongside a soundtrack prize for the game that you could get if you qualified for the previous Club Nintendo year's Platinum prize.

Maybe they'll do a WW soundtrack that you can actually get by buying the game, though. That would be nice. They've done soundtrack bonuses for SS and OoT3D.

If you're comparing the US CN to the European and Japanese CN, it's always going to be disappointing. Smaller markets will always get better stuff. Let's take something like that SNES Classic Controller... produce enough for Japan. Ok, now produce enough for the US. Seeing the issue here? Or, if they just make it limited, people will bitch because they missed it. It's a no-win. Plus, again, let's all remember this is really just a nice gesture on Nintendo's part. They don't have to do anything.

Truth is, I'm just happy we even HAVE a CN that gives rewards at this point. I mean, I remember back when registering games didn't get you a damned thing, so I'll take what I can get at this point. That's my baseline, anyway.

Sorry I can't join in the hate (did someone actually say they'd rather have gotten a hat?  Really??), but I'm torn between which of the two platinum rewards to claim.  On the one hand, the only poster in the set I *really* want is the Wind Waker one, but it is gorgeous.  On the other, I love Majora's Mask and would really like the soundtrack.  I'm going to have to mull this one over a bit.

I was all set on taking the soundtrack, but then I too a look at the posters. I believe I already have the WW one from last year, I think, but the Pikmin poster is fantastic looking.

Decisions, decisions . . .

I don't see this question asked already.

I thought in previous years the Platinum members received a choice from Platinum and Gold.  I am Platiinum and selected the posters , am I not able to also select a Gold reward?

You can choose a platinum reward or gold reward. You don't get two prizes.

So does anyone think that the Majora's Mask soundtrack will sell for a decent amount on Amazon? I'm tempted to try and make some money off of it since nothing else looks all that appealing to me (can't help myself after selling one of those gold nunchucks for $80+).

So... looking more I really like that Pikmin poster. Enough to nerdily put it up somewhere in my apartment.

Problem is I would want to get a cheapy frame for it to more easily put it up and make it looks a tiny bit nicer. The dimensions of that though (25" x 12.8") are uncommon and means that I couldnt just pick one up at Walmart or something...

Now I am back to contemplating Links Awakening...

I'm really happy, I've been holding out on Link's Awakening over a nutty refusal to pay full price for VC stuff. Didn't bother with Platinum this year, but with the games they have up for coin rewards now, I might end up getting it for 2014.

Never was a fan of physical rewards - the games just seem worth more to me. I'd probably tear the poster and the calendar's useless by next year.

Hard choice for me. I loved MM so the soundtrack is tempting, but after failing to pick up the poster set from last year and seeing those cards still on eBay for like 10 bucks, I think I'll have to go with the posters and try to get the CD afterwards.

Or they could, you know, just do a mass production of enough for BOTH and save money all around. Then for any hardware that may be region specific do that separately. Most of the rewards wouldn't even require that extra step though, but even when they did just doing a mass production would still save money.

The only thing I can legitimately complain about is they didn't really capitalize on the Year of Luigi much with the rewards, just one of the posters with that theme.  Though I'm not sure what I could of realistically expected, so even my minor complaint is moot.

I took the CD this year, as the only digital game that was interesting to me was Smash, but I know I'd never play it anyways.

Id of completely loved a luigi's mansion statue with the vaccuum cleaner.

I was expecting something luigi themed actually.

Id say the rewards are about on par with last year.

I never used the playing cards, and will never listen to the zelda soundtrack. I wont display any posters.

I think I like the calender better than the rest of the rewards.. ugh, do I need to worry about anything going out of stock?

I want to wait a few days and think it over but would hate to see the soundtrack go out of stock and I have to choose something else.

I took the posters, since i like tangible items. Plus i took all the other Zelda/Mario Posters in the past, so at some point i will have a sweet nintendo poster collection.
