[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Ehh, I guess I'll get the posters. I do want the calendar, since it's useful
I'd probably get the calendar if it was a wall calendar instead of a desk one. Oh well. I do like the pikmin poster, but I don't know if I'd hang it up or if the set would just take up space in my closet...so might just go with the soundtrack.

While the rewards are disappointing yet again, they are a little better than last year, but not by much.  I was really expecting a few more items Luigi related, but I guess not.  Anyway, I settled on the Majora's Mask Soundtrack since I like soundtracks and the cover & CD art is pretty badass.

And people can defend Nintendo until they're blue in the face, but Nintendo can do better than this crap, I know it, you know it, hell, even Nintendo knows it.  As the program goes, free, not free, whatever, it depends on how you look at it, but the thing is, at least make the rewards worth participating in the program.  The only reason I even enter those little codes is for the off chance that maybe, just maybe, they release something great again, like the statue from years ago.  Well see, but again, defend them all you want, they can do better!

I've been waiting forever for Link's Awakening to go up on CN, and when it finally does it's a Gold/Plat prize...

NINTENDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Link's awakening and Majoras Mask are tied for my least favorite Zelda game. And I have no interest in any of the games on the posters. And I wouldnt use my status on a download. Well with my 3 Platinum accounts I guess I'll get the posters the CD and the calendar.

I'm assuming the Super Smash Bros. reward is ONLY for Wii VC? Can anyone confirm that it is NOT playable on the 3DS?

Checked Super Smash Bros. page and it is not usable on the 3DS :( uncool

Much better posters than last year. Totally in for those.

And, seriously, I don't understand the complaints. This is a free program that Nintendo offers. You bought the games to, uh, play the games, right? This is nothing but an added benefit. I mean, I bought a shit-ton of Sony and Microsoft games last year, but the only thing I have to show for that is the games themselves. Getting pissed off and saying your FREE STUFF is 'nothing but a slap in the face' is ridiculous.
I wasn't really pissed off or complaining. Just stating an opinion.

Most people were speculating that it would be something luigi related (maybe a hat). They could have just offered that and I think most people would have been ok with it.

If you like your nintendo posters, that's fine with me. No offense to anyone that does.

How's Sakura Samurai? I've never played it. I watched a few Let's Play style videos on YouTube. Seems cool. But I'm also considering the Poster Set or the Desk Calendar. Guess I'd actually use the Desk Calendar.

If that Majora's Mask soundtrack is really only one disc, it's going to be an incomplete soundtrack.  The proper release of that from over a decade ago is two discs.

Maybe it's lower quality...or maybe it's something really lame like 1 cd + a code to download MP3's from iTunes?

The one year I miss out on being Platinum because I forgot about the June 30th deadline and they announce LoZ Platinum prizes. I like the Zelda posters they've offered so far...and the Majora's Mask soundtrack looks sweet too. I'm Gold, but those prizes don't compare to Platinum. Sucks.

It's two discs, as stated on the reward page for it:

Enter the world of Majora’s Mask with the stirring music from the game. This re-released 2 CD set features the entire soundtrack of this classic Zelda™ title and will be packaged in a double-CD jewel case. All songs were written and composed by Koji Kondo, except three by Toru Minegishi.

I've been wanting Link's Awakening on 3DS, so I'll grab that.  And I'm happy about that.

I could give rat's ass about game music, and I'd never hang gaming posters in my condo, so I always just pass on them and don't request rewards if there's not a game I want.  I mainly register games for the coins to spend on a game here or there throughout the year than these end of year rewards.  So I'm happy there's a game I want for once.

In for the posters again, that WW one is too awesome for me to not snag it.

However, if anyone wants to trade/sell an MM OST, PM me.

I'm platinum, nice surprise. I assumed I was gold, but hadn't checked in a while. In for the soundtrack I guess. The games I can always buy digitally at any time. Good rewards overall this year.

The posters looked really nice so I went with them.   I figure I might hang that pikmin 3 one.  I doubt I would listen to the soundtrack.  The VC games I wouldn't play.

Soundtrack seemed like the clear choice for platinum, then I redeemed 400 points on the Mario posters. So from my 3DS XL, Luigis Mansion, and a pile of games I already had, I got Star Fox 3D, Donkey Kong game boy on my 3DS, a set of Mario posters, and the Majoras Mask CDs.

I went with the soundtrack. I'm surprised so many people went with the posters...is everyone who orders them actually hang them up?

Overall, better than the cards, but I definitely liked the statue / Mario pin rewards better.  I'm always done for a vg OST though.

Hopefully they restock the store with some new prizes soon. I have a ton of coins burning a hole in my computer screen.

Well I've been meaning to post this for a while, so let me start by saying I am among those not jazzed about the prizes. I don't know about anyone else, but I read a poster prize like this as nothing more than an obligation to pay more money. Since I am in my 20's, I really don't think I can get by with the scotch tape on the wall (also I don't want to damage them!), so I would need to frame them (odd size, so it will cost more -.-) and that is always a turn off for me. Can't say the OST is much better, but I will say it's amazing how quickly the value of platinum dropped. As I mentioned before, those cards probably cost Nintendo $10 dollars a deck, where as I would be surprised if MM cost them $2 dollars a OST.

@ 007

Do you work for Nintendo, because if not you really should. Ignoring your remark about market sizes (as that is just wrong), you're pretty much writing off problems with fallacies. For starters, Club NIntendo HAS offered limited time / short run items, which have not resulted in people complaining (Since this thread has gone up I haven't seen someone bitch they missed the Kirby medal or something), just people being hopeful of new rewards being added. Furthermore, a lot of these items would stay in stock longer / result in more sales / fix the major flaw (discussed below), since they would force people to spend their coins far more often. Like I got the Kirby medal because I love Kirby and knew I wouldn't have anything else to buy with my coins come year end
and I was right. I know, totally shocking!

Not only would more items remove some heat from the Platinum prize (as it's one of the few new items we get and it's something risk free [since they can always fix / add something awesome] next to buying a fan or stylus holder), but it would resolve the "600 coin" barrier, which is one of the biggest flaws / problems in Club Nintendo. The issue is that nothing worthwhile is ever added, so people (especially people on sites like this) don't feel the need to actually invest more than 600 coins per calendar year. Like last year I hit platinum and day 1 I had enough vouchers laying around to get 160 coins from platinum (saved incase of a promo, which will probably go to SMT IV's promo), plus a spare KH3D / MH3U to trade and a Pikachu 3DS XL / Flare Red 3DS / Endless Ocean / Twilight Princess / Flingsmash / Epic Yarn, plus I plan on buying Pikmin 3 / New Super Luigi U / The Wonderful 101 (I got to assume this has coins, love PG!) / New Super Mario 3D World / Link to the Past 2 / Pokemon X / Mario Kart 8 / Super Smash Bros U (assuming these last two release within the calendar year...), which is more than enough to platinum next year without blinking an eye.

@ The Square Enix referencers...

Don't forget that Square Enix also gave pretty awesome prizes. Sure it was a pain, but it's IMPOSSIBLE to complain about a iPod Touch or a nice framed piece of art.

@ The Anti Entitlement People

My main problem with this years selection is that I got the LoZ OoT OST + OoT 3D for $25 dollars on release and filling out 1 survey. Now an item that is pretty similar is worth several times more work / hassle  to get and isn't exactly unique in any way. Part of the CN PA is the fact that it's unique to reaching this status, not a unique copy for our most loyal.

@ Shakespeare

Funny how I called you out for posting an OST and Nintendo up and trolls us with a very similar actual prize. I rather have the Luigi OST than MM (I mean it's the year of Luigi), but that made me laugh. Especially how I saw this bitching / moaning coming if people thought it was an OST.

I think I understand, but want to make sure. The Club Nintendo year ended on July 1st, so if I register SMT IV and FE (have FE:A already, got it at launch but never registered it) tomorrow and fill out the surveys by the deadline they both earn me points towards platinum next year and I'll still get the $30, right?

Now just need to figure out if there is $30 worth of stuff on the 3DS eShop that I want. Would just use it on LttP2 or M&L, but like to have physical copies of the Nintendo games.

that'd be correct, all coins now go toward 2014 gold/platinum status. The $30 promo doesn't expire until August 31st, so you are good on that front too :D

No problem dude...I was sounded like a douche too to you without realizing I can't spell. I probably jinxed it by posting the prize/award/reward. HA! Going with posters BTW.

Well I was just worried that people would read award, see the image and complain. It's fairly standard fare and going off what we saw today, entirely possible. xD

There's something really odd with my account. I signed up for a Club Nintendo account back in 2007 or so, and I did it alone. I have no children, or any family who play Nintendo products.

I didn't really use the account much, not until last November. So I start buying a lot of 3DS games, and redeeming the codes, I end up having enough points to hit Platinum level, I go to redeem my reward (Sakura Samurai).

It says "Sorry can't redeem reward ask your Family Administrator to redeem" or something along those lines.

So I check my account and it says I a part of a family I've never heard of, and I'm not the administrator.

So I dunno wtf is going on... pretty frustrating.

I chose the CD set. I don't really have any interest in the posters. Still I was hoping for something better but wasn't expecting much after the cards last year.

I should've gone with my gut instinct when I bought my 3DS XL and stopped at 300 points.
I ignored my gut out of fear of missing out on a platinum prize worth owning. I knew the prizes were getting progressively worse and with Nintendo making less and less they weren't going to shell out the extra money for something nice. Damn you gut and your logic, I never listen.
