[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

It gets... weird. Like Sonic Lost Worlds and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate 3DS have codes, but Wii U don't. I never got why the cheaper more popular versions would get the better bonus, but I suppose this is one of the many reasons why people think Nintendo has no clue what they're doing.
to get wii u club points you have to link that system to the club nintendo account if you have more than one (like me) you link both one to the main user the other to another family member (i have 3 family members if you dont have family you are screwed

Sigh... if you actually buy games SO YOU CAN GET THE CODES you deserve to be tarred and feathered...you do not matter and have no say in this argument or about life in general (with the rare exception of a VERY cheap game to put you over the edge for a prize/plat).

Now, if you're still here and still mad please show me any other program which just flat out gives stuff away with no purchases at all.  Sure some of the CN games are crap but some aren't (ALttP is crap)...some of the prizes are crap but some aren't (I'm sorry, say what you will but that t-shirt is awesome.  I have one and wear it all the time, I'm started to wear it out so I'm probably going to order another one).

Anyway, let's also not forget the Wii U Deluxe program they have going on too since you can now use the points from it on your 3DS.

That's.. odd? Product registration surveys always pop up right after I register my game/system.
Yeah, I'm trying to figure out if it's just me or if they messed something up with all their updating. The last time it worked for me was the 27th, but my purchases on the 31st and today never popped up.

Man, I'm really rooting for another register a 3DS and a certain game to get a free one again. Europe got one of those again a few months ago, here's hoping we'll get one soon.

It was a pretty terrible promo compared to ours (just SMB3D Land) but it was still a free game and it would be nice if they run another.

Oh yes, quite terrible.

US:

Buy a 3DS XL + Luigi Mansion or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and get Super Mario 3D Land, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!, Star Fox 64 3D,or Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive! This promotion was also valid from March 21 through April 30.

EU:

Buy a 3DS or 3DS XL and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Luigi’s Mansion 2, LEGO CITY® Undercover: The Chase Begins, Sonic Lost World (Nintendo 3DS version), Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Nintendo 3DS version), Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Bravely Default, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7 or Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy for a free copy of Super Mario 3D Land. Offer valid from November 27 to January 14 2014.

It's painfully obvious which promotion was worse and it most definately wasn't the US.

OK, they were able to buy a bigger selection of games but at least we got a selection of games for our free one. Of course I'm also biased towards our offer because I was buying Dark Moon regardless and it all timed out perfectly with Target putting the system on sale for $150 and doing a B2G1.

They had the option of 3DS or XL, we did not.

Theirs was during the Holiday season (Xmas and is still current), ours was in April.

They had a selection of arguably every game you could possibly want for the 3DS at the moment, we had 2 games and it was only a deal if you wanted one of the offered games or one of the free games.

Don't get me wrong, the US promotion came at a great time, but everything about the EU one beats out the US one besides selection. However, they also did a retroactive promotion for B3G1 free, which destroys our promotion on every level.

And let's be honest, of the five games the US was offered, two were kind of niche titles (Freaky Forms and Art Academy) and one was a year and a half old and was a remake. I'm sure people picked those three as their free one, but I'm betting those people were few and far between.

Yeah, that's when I dived into the world of 3DS gaming. Never regretted it one bit.

Just because Art Academy is super niche and Star Fox was a remake doesn't mean that we didn't get four of the better titles on the system at the time to choose from.

The Luigi statue has been up for about a week now, I'd hardly call that impossible to get. The charging cradles though, yeah, I'm right there with you.
I'll take it as a lesson......... Even if it's an item on pre-order for 100 years from now, get it the day it goes up or be SOL.

Did anyone else recently get their Platinum rewards in?

I am a bit lazy and didn't really look through the thread much so I apologize if this has already been discussed.

I got a package yesterday that I believe to be my poster set, I do not feel like opening it up though seeing as I have no intention to put them up anywhere at the moment and just wanted to be sure that is what it was haha

If it's a tube, then it is the posters.

I was really hoping people would start debating about CN again since the only decent thing they have left in stock is the Mario pouch...for now that is!
Sadly for you, I am really getting sick of posting / having drama in my life and am trying to keep my posts to an absolute minimum as of late. So as EldritchOnRye said, without me bickering with people, there isn't really a lot of bickering.

So for those that are still wondering, the Luigi/Mario hat pouch does indeed a 3DS XL.  You have to literally have to force the 3DS Xl in there.

Here are some pictures

This is a side by side of the Pouch and my 3DS XL

35d8gtd.jpg

This is a picture of the pouch with a 3DS inside of it.

As you can see, it's not even noticable.

fjntiw.jpg

this is as far as the 3DS XL goes into the pouch without forcing it

Now this is what the pouch looks like when you shove the 3DS XL inside... kinda streches out a little.

Maybe this will help someone decide whether they want to get the Mario Hat.  Super glad i got 2 of the Luigi Pouches.

That pouch is ugly as hell even for the original 3DS. Its too bulky to be a case.

They should have just branded the cases with Mario and Luigi pictures and decals and made the case actually fit.

I don't like those cases.

Agreed. Even without being strecthed out, they vaguely even resemble a hat. I've just been using one of the red/white pouches until I find something I like more.

The only thing I'm ever interested in is redeeming my points for free game downloads.  Personally, I don't care about the nicknacks and memorabilia.  I do have the pin set and the Zelda CD for plat status though.  Not sure what to do with them.  I just wish they'd put out better games as prizes.

I'm in the same boat, I mainly care about the games (though some of the swag isn't too bad, when it comes available). I'm waiting for the day they finally put Pokemon Rumble out there, its one of the very few WiiWare games published by them that they haven't already made available through CN, and I'm not about to drop 1500 Wii shop points on it. I don't think that will happen, but I'd be happy if they did.

Of course I wouldn't complain if either Kid Icarus or the first Star Tropics from the VC were available as well, some of the few Wii VC games I haven't picked up that I'm interested in (that are published by Nintendo to be CN eligible, that is).

For those of you who ordered the posters, how long did it take for you to get them? Mine says they shipped on December 11 and I have not gotten anything yet.

If they haven't arrived by now, they were probably lost in the mail - mine took about a week to arrive. I'd definitely send them an email.

How long has it been since the Luigi figure sold out? I was able to snag one early on, but lost track of it's availability and would like to know how long it's been gone.

Thanks?

Thank you!

Just curious what other CAG might do: I'm already on platinum status this year, but only have 940 coins and would still like to get the big rewards... Should I still register my games or wait till the reset in summer?

Once you hit it you may as well wait until something pops up unless you're going to lose bonus coins by waiting. The only big things they've done recently (the charging cradle and Luigi statue) they either announced before hand or did a pre-order on so there was plenty of time to get coins added.

Maybe a tad OT:  Why haven't they re-released the original Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games?  1-4?  I'd love to kill me some golem for Edricks armor again.

Heck, that game got me subscribed to Nintendo Power through almost the entirity of the magazines life...

The exclusive guide....yeah, that made my brother a fan. I was too young at the time to really know the game
