[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Just got my order in for the AC case.  Hopefully the Zelda one will be restocked so I can pick up one of those too.

Nintendo would sell 10 million Wii Us if they made a Smash Bros bundle and advertised it on TV like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlUZHj4b4c8

Would anyone be interested in trading their single Zelda insert for the single Harvest Moon insert?  I want to order another, but I want the flipped Zelda on the outside of it (currently OOS).

Oh yeah, I got my AC case in the mail today.  I should probably open these up and make sure I got the right things.  Since both of them have the generic cover with the dots that says what they are on the outside.

Just ordered the AC card case. Not really interested in the Animal Crossing slip, but will use the Mario themed ones. This will be great for when I want to travel and bring my games all together. I still have 570 coins left to spend, but I think I'll wait for them to get some better items in stock. Thought about the Mario/Luigi pouch, but I don't think it'll fit the XL. Anyone know how often they put new products up?

My zelda case arrived all crushed. How do I get in touch with Nintendo support for a replacement?

Edit: Got the help I needed.  Thank you.

The ITB survey eligibility is only for a short while (3 weeks, starting one month before the release date, ending one week before it releases), but you have 5 years to actually buy and register the game.  Once you register the game, you will receive the standard coin value, plus an additional 10 coins for filling out the ITB survey (this coin bonus is separate from the 1st month coin purchase bonus and post play survey bonus).

In short, if you have any remote interest in the game, fill it out now to maximize your coin earning potential.

You really should just do this regardless. There have been countless times when I didn't expect something to happen and I inadvertently ended up with a game I didn't fill out the survey for. I mean, a lot can change in 5 years. Kirby Return to Dreamland hit $4.99 at Sears, Super Mario Sticker Star hit $7 at BB, Epic Yarn hit like $8 at Walmart, MANY 3DS games were free with purchase of TMNT or Angry Birds at TRU, Animal Crossing hit $20 within weeks at Walmart, 3DS XL BF sale included the LoZ bundle, Pokemon was bundled with the 2DS, Dream Team got a system bundle out of nowhere (as did Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon). These are just examples off the top of my head and while it sucks doing a bunch of pointless surveys, it's better to just plan for any eventuality, as history has shown that unexpected things can happen out of nowhere.

Indeed, there's been at least a half dozen games in the last year where I thought I would never buy it and ended up doing so as soon as it popped up on AWD or something.

Can someone provide me direct links to the ITB surveys for Donkey Kong and Bravely Default retail versions? It seems the only one showing up for me is just the digital version of Donkey Kong.

fuck man! I've been on Club Nintendo for like three years and didn't know this! I've skipped on a lot of the ITBs because I knew I was not going to buy the games a full price.

I think they changed it, though. It used to be that ITB stayed active forever. Now I think that if you don't buy within a certain window (3 weeks?) after release then you don't get the bonus. Can anyone confirm this?

Well I have stuff from right after I joined CN almost a year ago that are still active to register the game for in my account.

Super Mario 3D World registration bonus still shows it's valid until November 22, 2018 on my To-Do list, so unless Tropical Freeze changes this (which we won't know until its released), its still 5 years.

What you are thinking of is the early product registration bonus of 10 coins, which is only valid for the first month after its release, and is a separate coin bonus.

Wow I just got the Zelda case and I must admit this is some high quality stuff. Its like a DS/3DS game case, harder plastic and thicker, and just better quality.

Im really happy I ordered one.

Doubt anyone cares, but I am really fucking pissed at Nintendo's bullshit.

A month ago when I got my broken OST I was informed that they would simply replace it (if they had stock) and all will be great. Roughly a month later I call and get this Indian guy who tells me that all is not great and that I was expected to ship the item back to them because it was a platinum reward. I was a bit irked, because no one told me the first time, no information was given to me and I was basically left in the dark. The guy said he would get back to me without 2 business days and things will go from there.

So today is 2 business days later and no word from Nintendo. I call up and get this nice lady and while she was helping me, I got disconnected. It happens, life moves on, so I call back and get this douchey guy. After explaining my situation to him, he basically seemed unable to follow my story. He came off like one of those guys who pay attention to key words and assumes that is enough to follow the conversation. After finally explaining and getting him to understand the story, he told me to send it back to the Nintendo address on the envelope. I told him I didn't have it (who holds onto a bubble wrap envelope like that for over a month?) and was unsure what to do. I finally get him to tell me how to ship it back and I was getting angry at the various steps. I was pissed and told him I would also like to make a formal complaint.

20 minutes later I get ahold of a "manager" who said that platinum rewards are special and they absolutely must get the item back. She verified the address, but also told me that I needed to include a note explaining my situation, giving them my contact information, my return address, original order number and phone number to get in touch with me. As I am rolling my eyes at the amount of effort required to get this fucking stupid OST replaced, I asked the million dollar question. Will they at least refund my shipping? The manager was like "oh hell no, but we will pay to ship it back to you!" like I should be thankful that Nintendo is willing to spend another $2.75 so I keep spending $600+ on Nintendo products.

Needless to say, I am fucking pissed at how much effort is required to get the OST replaced. I am half tempted to just fuck it and drop Nintendo support entirely or simply buy another OST. I assume the $20 for someone else's is still less than the amount of time, effort and drama to get Nintendo to provide something in the first place. Anyway... I thought some people might want to know the amount of bullshit you need to go through to get a platinum reward replaced. =\

Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

This reminds me, I still have to return my damaged platinum poster set. This comment may upset the guy with the Zelda cd, but they sent me a ups label to print out so I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

My Zelda case came in cracked today... Does anyone have the email and what info I should send to Nintendo CS?

If someone could PM me that would be great...

I was surprised when my animal crossing case showed up in a regular mailer without bubblewrap. I can't believe it made it all the way here from Washington without it being damaged. How much extra does a small bubble mailer cost? Around 8 cents? I bought 150 bigger DVD sized bubble mailers from a 3rd party amazon seller for $19, so they were a little under .13 cents a piece. I wonder how much money Nintendo is spending sending replacements for all their sh!t (manufacturing, phone reps, additional postage, etc). Not to mention the ill will loyal Nintendo customers feel when they receive a damaged item. It's impossible to truly calculate that intangible cost.

I didn't get a bubble mailer with mine, but it came in fully intact. Quite surprised with how nice it is. It's definitely going to be a good travel companion on long road trips, and the very rare airplane ride.

With how eager they are to send out replacements without any proof of damage, I'm sure they're also losing money to asshats claiming theirs arrived broken.

Super Mario 3D World registration bonus still shows it's valid until November 22, 2018 on my To-Do list, so unless Tropical Freeze changes this (which we won't know until its released), its still 5 years.
Wait!? How are you seeing years? I thought they did away with that a few years ago and made it hard to tell if you had to do the surveys this year or some later year. I was just on and completed everything up to July just in case they were for this year. Some, like the post-plays for new downloads obviously were for this year. But beyond that I have things like DQ IX, Mario Kart DS, etc - and besides the fact that some are after the others (even though they are in earlier months) I have no idea what year they are for. Everything I have left could be 2016 or beyond but I thought there was no way of telling.

Edit: Oh, crap. There's a "View To-Do Histoy" link (very small, below the icons for the To-Dos). This must be new. So in there I see the years. I'm seeing lots of 2016-2018. It is kind of depressing how many I let expire, apparently - some that I never even knew I had (mostly for downloaded games).

Looks like the only ones I actually have left in all of 2014 are: Animal Crossing Wild World Product Registration Survey (must have registered this way back before the new program started), Style Savvy Product Registration (I must have filled out an Intend to Buy on this one), Fossil Fighters Product Registration (also ITB I guess), and a Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story post-play survey. Heck, even my Mario Kart DS post-play survey isn't due until the end of 2015!

I missed the Endless Ocean Product Registration Survey I was supposed to do last January and lost 30 points for that. Plus I lost several other 10 and 30 pointers over the last 3 years. I know that list wasn't around then or I wouldn't have missed them - I assumed they were for later years like Mario Kart and those other oldies. Oh well - I still have stacks of unused codes so no big deal ;).
