[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Those 3DS games are no good for my kids so I won't bother getting them.  I've got Mario RPG from the last time they had it.  I've got Super Punch Out already but I guess i might as well get regular old Punch Out.  At least it's already for Wii U so I don't have to spend money to upgrade it and it will get a post play survey for 10 coins meaning it's real cost is 190.  Better than nothing I suppose.

As for the debate about if these are free or not, they're freebies in the same sense that credit card rewards are free.  If I spend $2,000 on a credit card then they give me a $100 gift card, is that a "free" gift card?

if you spent the $2000 towards things you actually needed to spend it toward anyways, then yeah. if you went on a $2000 shopping spree and put yourself into debt for a $100 gift card back, then no.

How do you know someone doesn't "need" a Nintendo game to get their kid to STFU in the car? ;)

Oh, I almost forgot, also these downoad codes count as cash spent. I"m not sure what punch out on Wii U costs but if it's 499 then I should get 49 points.

is Super Mario RPG for Wii or WiiU?
Both.

Wii. Even Nintendo is confused.
No. Some people like you are just stupid. For 3 months now Nintendo has rebranded all Wii games as Wii U games, since they do work on the Wii U via emulation. The only difference between a Wii U version and Wii version is the Wii version has to be booted via the Wii app and can't use Wii U peripherals.

Since I have both consoles, can I redeem it in both ?

I don't think most people would consider Wii mode as a Wii U game. That's a bit of a stretch. I certainly don't consider PS1 games to be PS3 games just because the disc works or I could download them.

Since I have both consoles, can I redeem it in both ?
You would have to get 2 codes so why bother. Eventually they will (I assume) put it out on Wii U and you'll be able to upgrade it for $1.50. At that point you'll have a copy in Wii mode on your Wii U, a Wii U version on the Wii U, and a Wii version on your Wii. Just get it once and put it on your Wii U. I see no reason to have a Wii after getting a Wii U.

And you are surprised when people call you out for being a dick (and thus refuse to post in certain threads). Of course you can play Wii games on Wii U, that doesn't stop this from being a Wii game natively . If and when Mario RPG is released on the Wii U VC, the code you get here will not work for getting you that copy.

Yes...they are the stupid ones. Lol

, I think there were games I wanted last month but I forgot to redeem for them... Oh well... I might get Punch-Out as I think my son would like it (and anything on the Wii U VC is much more likely to get played than on the Wii one).

Then again I might buy Super Mario RPG again since I lost the email with the code from the last time I bought it and Nintendo CS has been non-responsive in helping out. It really sucks that you can't view your codes on your Club Nintendo account like with just about every other digital-download service...

Is there no way to retrieve the code? Why don't you send an email to them and ask them to resend it?

edit:

Personally, I think the Wii U downloads are a great deal since you get 10 coins back from the survey. You DON'T Have to pay them $1.50 to upgrade it. You get full price worth of credit towards your digital deluxe promo.

Wow, pleasantly surprised about Super Mario RPG.  Didn't have enough coins the last time it was offered so this is great.

Now I just have to wait till they rerelease the game on Wii U so I can upgrade like I recently did with Link to the Past. :)

No, but by redeeming the code on your Wii U via vWii, you can just get the upgrade on the Wii U when it comes for $1.50. Either way, it's a win-win.

SMRPG.. awesome. First time I played it was a few years ago on the virtual console. That Wii got stolen, so I'll probably use 200 on this. Is there really any chance they would put this on 3DS?

If the rewards... suck why are you... in this topic?... Lol!!!

Lol!!! Typical ...un original Internet drone ...calls someone a fanboy... for making a comment unlike theirs. Lol!!! Yes he is a fanboy... for liking the games that ...are offered. Lol!!!
Read this post like an 80's robot and it makes so much more sense. The giant space in the middle is his pause to jerkily move his torso back & forth.

While sparks are shooting everywhere as his logic circuits overload from the paradox it just created.

Note to self: Avoid this thread when new games are posted, and simply decide for myself whether or not the rewards are worth it, or if I want to save my coins.

Nintendo fanboy.....first of all these things aren't "free"....you have to spend money on products to acquire points....thats not free....and yes...the "rewards" suck.....regardless if they are free or not....

I'm in here because I own a 3DS XL and was hoping to use my points on something significant....and guess what?....there isn't....if you can't see that these "rewards" are lackluster....then I don't know what to tell you....and I didn't call him a fanboy for disagreeing with me...I called him a fanboy because he seemed to get a little defensive when I stated my opinion....thats typical fanboy behavior....

If you are a fan of a certain company wouldn't have high expectations and standards?....I'm sorry expect more than Donkey Kong Jr. and whatever that other game was....sorry for holding Nintendo to a certain standard.
Is it wrong if I'm pretending this guy is a robot and he's just typing like his robot voice sounds?

The avatar is just the icing on the cake for me.

If you lost the email you can still retrieve the code.

Go to your Club Nintendo account page and open the "Order Inquiries" tab. Find the order number for your download
Finally, go to this page: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/lookup/orders/lookupSupportOrder.do and fill in the form (choose "part", not "repair").

Kinda iffy. I kind of want all of the games this month, but I'm unsure about spending my coins for stuff I already have on my other system. It's all hooked up to the same TV. I would just be using the Classic controller/Pro/GamePad to play the games instead of my other controller. How is PiCTOBiTS?

I really wish they will release some the classic nes games and not only first party games I would love to see a rerelease of the old chips n dale rescue rangers game I loved that game

Before you do that, did you ever register your Wii on Club Nintendo? If you did, I would advise you call Nintendo before anything and have that page with all your registered games and systems up during that time. There is a chance you can recover everything you lost.

Holy crap - had no idea about this page. When I first read this I thought it would just bring up a "Contact CS" type link. But no, there's the code right there. I'll have to wait till the TV is free to try out the code, but at least I can do that now.

Thanks!

I'm not understanding why the site says the extra coins offer for Professor Layton: Azran Legacy expires on Feb. 21st, when the game isn't even scheduled for release until Feb. 28th.

EDIT: Nevermind, was just able to click it to get the pre-survey to come up. Strange, it wouldn't come up earlier...

I already have Punch-Out! from when it was 30 cents and I'm not really interested in DKJ.

I downloaded Super Mario RPG on my Wii U the last time it was a Club Nintendo deal (last year...). I'm still waiting on Nintendo to make it available for the Wii U eShop so I can "upgrade" it.

I don't think it's fair that SM:RPG is 200 points, when the much shorter DK: Jr is 150, the 3DS games really should only be 100.

Before you do that, did you ever register your Wii on Club Nintendo? If you did, I would advise you call Nintendo before anything and have that page with all your registered games and systems up during that time. There is a chance you can recover everything you lost.
Hmm.. didn't even think about that. I did have that WIi registered. I ended up re-downloading SMRPG again, but it would be nice to get Paper Mario and SMB1/3 back too. Thanks for the heads up!

No input on PiCTOBiTS from the CAG crowd yet :whistle2:( you guys are usually the ones who sell me on my games.
If it's the one I'm thinking of, people were raving about it back when it first came out. I had it but wasn't terribly good at it. Pretty solid if you're into puzzle games and it's even got a little bit of Nintendo flavor thrown in.
