[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

I remember a Zelda soundtrack I missed out on. Iirc, it was for registering the Oot remake.
It was and I have that next to my MM OST, but I didn't count it because of the uniqueness of that promo.

UVsir7M.jpg

If I recall correctly, the promo was at launch for Zelda, but there was a glitch or they ran out of supply or something like that and it lead to the site glitching and not offering the survey for the OST. Nintendo couldn't let this thing become a fiasco, so they made the offer something like "anyone who buys and registers OoT during the first week gets a free OST".

1900 points to spend, 670 expiring this year, and nothing worth getting! C'mon Nintendo, gimme something I can work with!
Uh...instead of letting points expire you can claim free games and give the codes away here? Not sure why you'd rather no one have anything than let someone use your points that you don't want?

Yeah don't be greedy.

Just go wild and post the codes here in the forums so the lurkers can gobble them up and be fed.

Who said I will allow them to expire? I'm just hoping for some restocks or new items that are worth the coins. Ultimately, I will spend them on something before timeruns out.

Greedy? I've paid hundreds of dollars for Nintendo games to earn these points. I don't think I can be fairly accused of greediness if I'm inclined to keep them to myself. Not that I don't admire those that do share on this board.

Can't believe how much people selling the luigi statue for that was offered only two listings showed up on eBay in quick search one for $200 and another for $400 wow

Can't believe how much people selling the luigi statue for that was offered only two listings showed up on eBay in quick search one for $200 and another for $400 wow
I did a number of searches and found...

  1. Sold for $150
  2. Sold for $195
  3. Buy it now $210
  4. 0 bids at $120 and BIN $200 or so

Hard to say if the two that sold actually sold (it isn't uncommon to see people troll bid / buy), but I wouldn't say the demand is very high or at least not high enough for me to believe it's averaging $100+ dollars. This feels more like one of those cases where use other CN items to extrapolate the value. Like, the 3DS card case use to average $15 - $30 and was a 250 coin item, so 250 / 1,500 = 6 x 22.5 = $135 and then toss in a few bucks for obvious stuff like rarity, high cost, better shipping (you don't want this thing to break) and the $150+ figures on eBay make a lot of sense.

However, this isn't how sales work. In fact, contrary to what a lot of the "new wave" of CAG's think, rarity is a factor in value, but is it not the deciding* factor. Like I said when the figure came out, I assume this figure was priced too high for most sellers to bother and it will probably bottom out in terms of value (6 3DS card cases will sell faster and easier than 1 Luigi statue).

* That Dokuro OST in my picture above is limited to 50, but I doubt I could get $10 dollars for it.

You know.. I ordered the Luigi statue on day 1 or 2 it was offered and mine says backordered.. but yet it took my points.. I actually WANT the damned statue for my desk collection..

Where were you when the card cases were back in stock?
I wasn't really impressed by them, and I have no use for them as I keep all of my games in their original cases. I'm kinda kicking myself for ignoring the Luigi statue, but I felt it was a little overpriced. I wish there were OST CDs to purchase, or they would restock the hanafuda cards. I would be THRILLED to be able to purchase eShop cards with my CN coins... but that'll probably never happen.

I'm sorry but why? There was the Luigi statue, charging cradles, and game cases which you would have easily been able to trade or sell. If I had expiring points and we actually got a handful of decent physical rewards for once I would have spent those points as soon as that stuff went up.

Even if you didn't personally like the items they should easily have sold for at least $20 a piece and it's better than hoping we get some worthwhile games between now and then.

Some people have no sense of humor.

I guess the  or the overly obnoxiousness of my post wasn't a big enough hint of sarcasm.

That or people just like to complain.

Probably the complaining part.

As I stated above, I thought the Luigi statue was a little too pricey and I have no use for the cradle or the game cases. I didn't think the statue would command those kind of prices at resale however, so in retrospect I should've jumped on it. Also, I didn't realize then that some of my points would expire this year, so I figured I should stockpile them for something big down lthe line. I'm still hoping Nintendo will release something new and interesting before July.

I agree the Luigi Statue was pricey, but I thought about it this way; CN doesn't do a lot of updates, and I had 2100 to burn, so I couldn't go wrong with the statue

A few months ago someone here mentioned the cradles would be available during March.  I tried searching the thread but it's a lost cause. Is there an exact date/time? My coins...they are ready.

Anyone have a code for Donkey Kong Country Returns or Lego City for the 3DS they'd be willing to trade for an XBLA game code that I have?

Also, this promo got me over the platinum hump, since I finally registered my 3DS XL, so I'm excited to see what I get in a year :D

I just wasted 200 coins on Mario rpg, I already have the game from the last time it was offered. Anyone ever have luck getting Nintendo to credit the coins back to your account?

I've never had to do that. The code shouldn't expire. Maybe you can trade it with someone or sell it on eBay?

After I clicked submit I immediately thought oh poop I think I have it already. I'll probably redeem it on my future step daughters wii. She will love the game, but won't ever play it. Lol

Alright, I've got 505 points right now. Not really interested in the game cases or charging cradle (maybe the cradle I guess). Has anything good popped up worth around that much in the last year or so? I haven't been following too closely. If not, I think I'll go with the posters.

Maybe I could wait for another good VC game too..

Picked up the Link Between Worlds posters. Didn't have the coins for them last time. I'm gonna kick myself if they restock that Luigi figure though.

http://club.nintendo.jp/member/exec/index inspires so much jealousy... I want those soundtracks.
Unlikely. It had an edition size of 5250 I guess, though I can't tell you what that number really "means" beyond thats what people say it's numbered out of.

also unlikely due to it being a year of luigi special and year of luigi is officially over march 18th and also due to the fact it not even listed on the rewards page anymore not even in the out of stock section

On top of that, some of us haven't had ours ship yet. Mine just went from Backordered to Preparing Order this week.

Just got my Kirby Triple Deluxe soundtrack yesterday! :D
Hopefully (and realistically) CN Japan issues a Tropical Freeze OST as a reward this year, painfully bleak possibility that it would ever come out stateside though. If any game deserves an OST release as a reward to NA CN this year, it's this one.

I don't see that error, though I know at one time those patches were 175 coins. Try clearing your cache and see if its still there.
They were back on sale back during Kirby's 20th Anniversary, which Google told me was back in 2012. I thought it was my browser too but I checked it in Chrome incognito mode and in IE and it was still there. It's gone now so I guess I guess it was nothing. I probably would have purchased it at the sale price though since I have 500ish coins expiring the end of this CN year.

So happy I got in on the Zelda posters this time, had to put in a bunch of games and go like 400 coins above platinum since I used most of my coins up, but I really like these posters and have all the other Zelda ones, I'm still set for next years plat as well at least.
