[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Most likely a negative stigma attached to Gaming, Cartoon and Anime related things versus TV, Movies and Sports. Like, it's seen as somewhat traditional for a guy to have sports memorabilia, so someone seeing that (especially a woman) would probably find it more normal / socially acceptable than a person with gaming swag around. Not to mention, it also has something of an immature association, so these two things probably work against it.
This. In addition to that, Nintendo stuff has the additional stigma of being especially childish (as opposed to a Halo poster or something, which is more "mature", not knocking Halo or anything, I just have a poster for it), so unless you're with someone who has a certain nostalgia for Nintendo, that'll probably be a problem too.

As for the stigma, blame media. It's what decides that sports stuff is okay and games stuff is not (though with the recent marketing of nerdliness, that is slowly changing).

It isn't, most girls aren't into that shit either. Gaming memorabilia is far worse though as far as social stigma and so on.

A poster of Michael Jordan vs. a poster of some half naked anime chick, hmmm.
I consider myself a nerd into anime, games and the like, and I admittedly don't have much memorabilia (would rather put the money i have to actual games which I guess does enough decorating for me) but I would never feel comfortable having an anime girl poster. Ever. Especially a half-naked one, I feel the same way about celebrity women's posters too. And if you have a significant other? Yeah, I don't know how cool they'd be with you ogling some half naked girl all the time.

slow's guide to women:
This is pretty funny. Surprised I never thought of it myself while at college (we had the same kind of open door thing), definitely agree with most of it (there were plenty of good looking nerds at my school, but it was brainiac school so that's expected..)

Where has this thread gone? Lol

I'll say that my wife is into gaming just as much as I am, so girls like that are out there. However, at the same time we don't have things laying out all over the place - just on my desk. Once we get a bigger place we do plan on decorating an entertainment room with more things/posters/etc.
You are a lucky man. Remember that now and forever. We were talking in the Steam thread about this, and it seems most CAG wives are just into Candy Crush and stuff. It's definitely been a challenge finding a lady on my wavelength in that department, but I've gotten close once or twice.

This is how we are right now, but...My hubby isn't into gaming at all :(

He has told me when we buy a house he'll make me a gaming area and decorate it with stuff( Right now all we have out is a remote control Wall-e on my desk), so meanwhile I 've been saving posters to hang and stuff for future gaming room :)
Aw. Never seen the reverse of a guy with a non-gaming wife before. That's a shame. You should try a gateway game (games that make you want to play other games) with him. Shared hobbies are the best hobbies. :bouncy:

Why do people care so much about what people do with their house?

Stay on topic.
Yes, the current topic obviously being to complain about being not staying on topic! :p

Let the people have their fun, this thread barely has updates more than once a month, it's not a very active thread usually.

I feel sorry for those of you who can't decorate the way you want. If any bitch tried to touch my Green Lantern or Watchman statues I'd stick my boot in the place where she poots. Just like Ike Turner says in Ax Ike, when this EXACT situation came up :D

Seriously though it's really sad to see how many "men" just take it like that. I'm assuming none of you are stay at home husbands? If not, you are helping make payments, you have a say in what goes where.
While I agree that one shouldn't be forced to change themselves in a relationship out of principle, and that you should have an equal say (even if you're a stay-at-home mom/dad, because you're still doing a needed service, just because you don't get paid doesn't mean you aren't, considering you'd have to pay a nanny to do so otherwise), I think it's part of an implied social contract in marriage.

There are just some typical expectations in a marriage that people adhere to for the sake of making it work (see your typical married life TV show to see what I mean). And some men just have to pick and choose their battles. I may not agree with it, but it is what it is.

Came to see if someone has posted what the new Club Nintendo offers were, found a bunch of awkward nerds arguing about weather Zelda posters will keep you from getting laid...

I didn't mean to imply anything of the sort, I was mainly referring to trophy partners (which I have met a few of in my time). If somebody is staying home to fix the dinner and raise the kids that's great. If you marry into a rich family and retire then it may not a good idea to rock the boat over decorations lol.

All that said, how people on a normal income can buy a house and support themselves, let alone raise a family on one income is beyond me. It seems like, in this day and age, young couples need to have both people working to support themselves. Insurance has become particularly bad lately in that regard....

Seriously, stop.

I was holding out for a restock/new item but caved and got Bonsai Barber since it was on my WiiWare short list.

There's no chance of a gold Nunchuck restock at this point, right?

Sorry I never do this, but you cannot continue to spell it like that, especially while being condescending. Remember, you're not talking about rain or sunshine, it's whether.

Is the expectation of GBA games on virtual console that there will be more than the handful announced released this year? They barely update the other console VC catalogs, do we expect GBA to get most of the spots for upcoming re-releases? Speculations?

^ I find it a little off that you spend time on CAG looking for deals to save a few bucks when your a "big city yuppy". But look down on people that collect any gaming knick knacks and junk. We are getting off topic but this just stood out to me and I would like to understand your opinion better.
I didn't look down on anyone. I said it wasn't my cup of tea and that there was nothing wrong with people who liked that type of decor.

I seldom view the deals forum these days as I don't buy all that many games and mostly buy at launch. That said, I still don't like overpaying for things, even though I have a lot more money than I did in college and grad school when I first started coming here. So I do glance for deals when wanting to buy a game that's been out for a while. This thread I have followed to see what the monthly game are since that's all I spend my coins on.

But I spend a lot more time in the gaming and off topic forum areas here than deals, and that's what keeps coming back. Though I've started to prefer GAF as this site got really slow outside of the deals forum after the move to the 3.0 software.

And no small studio apartment. I did have a great one bedroom with den apartment in a great spot in the city until December. Now live in a house right outside the city with my fiancée due to her having a couple big dogs. I love living with her, but the lifestyle change kind of sucks with having to drive every where, having a big house to take care of, yard work etc. Still have the nice furniture and trendy decor though with a few exceptions of things that need replaced. :D

Figures that the first legit Wii U title offered is also the only one I've already purchased (SMW).  At least it's a good sign that SNES VC games are starting to be offered.

hm, I heard from someone that "downloaded games by money" are : once you buy it, its for that console only. if you lose the console and get a new console, you lose that download permanently. is that true? cause I bought phoenix wright for the 3DS with my old 3DS,got a new one with a warranty and I want the game again. is it lost forever?

dumb question time I just have a wii can I use the Mario world code on it
Unfortunately, the SMW code is for Wii U only, but the Mario Golf can be redeemed on Wii.

If I were to get numerous copies of Wii Fit at Gamestop, does anyone know if you can register more than one copy?
Yes you can, up to 8 times on one family account, but you would have to create one family member per Wii Fit code. To err on the side of caution, it would be best to have legitimate family / friends that you know of to create the additional profiles based on.

I would be much more interested in getting Mario Golf if I knew when it was going to be a WiiU VC game.

Ha I just recently plugged in my SNES to play Mario World, my second favorite Mario game. I'll snag a Wii U copy.

Bet you guys can't figure out my number one favorite!

Super Mario Sunshine or Mario Galaxy? I doubt Mario 64 is your favorite.

Bastiches, knew they would skip Metroid. :twoguns:
It's because you keep talking about how much you want it, try posting a whole bunch of times about how you hope they never offer Super Metroid again and it will probably pop up next month!

By the way Eldritch, I was right there with you hoping for Super Metroid as well. Super Mario World is a decent consolation, even though i have the cartridge and a working SNES, still nice to have it on the WiiU for 200 coins.

Ugh, they're really jacking up the coin prices for these games. 250 for a N64 rom? 200 for a SNES rom? Seems like everything got bumped up by 50 since last month. GB games used to be a fair 100.

I forget if I have Mario Golf or not. I don't feel like adding coins to dump on it if I don't. 200 would be at least slightly tempting, but 250 isn't.

I'd probably pay 250 for the Wii version of Majora's Mask if it decided to show up again, though. Missed it the first (and only) time it was available.

I'd probably pay 250 for the Wii version of Majora's Mask if it decided to show up again, though. Missed it the first (and only) time it was available.
since A LOT of people are making "business" with the coins that Nintendo gives to their costumers for free, it´s not a strange move to see the company asking for more and more coins for the Club Nintendo program that costs them money.

I'm really debating that yoshi shirt. Thoughts? This is my first year of club nintendo so I don't normally know what type of stuff they offer

Well, finally something to spend my coins on (SMW). Unfortunately...I still wait for the Star Tropics games to become available.

no WE THE CUSTOMERS PAY for the 'GAMES" if they can't supply us with better rewards, then they will keep on losing customers.

Yeah, at least it's something high quality and better than I would have expected. Still disappointing when they went through the entire progression up to that point. Just watch it be all a devious trap to get me to spend all my coins on Super Mario World and Mario Golf then dropping it next month.

When trying to purchase Mario Golf, you get this warning: This game requires a Classic Controller or a Classic Controller Pro. These controllers are no longer manufactured, but may still be available for purchase from retailers.

So you can't use the Wii U Pro Controller?
