[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

So I have been trying since friday now to get my stuff to work with no avail.

I registered Mario Kart and got my free game but I can't complete my post play surveys for a couple games I got prior.

I only need 15 points to hit Platinum and so I was going to do 2 post play surveys and then redeem my free game after the reset.

I CANT COMPLETE ANYTHING THOUGH. This will be BS if I dont get Platinum because their system keeps timing out.. : /

Anyone else having this same issue still?

Sorry!

Yes read the free game with Mario Kart 8 thread, plenty of this same talk, their servers are probably getting hit hard. I can't complete my Mario Kart 8 survey which would put me at platinum. I'm betting during work hours tomorrow it will be better.

Hi everyone. I have Club Nintendo Points that I can redeem for a gift of your choice. I am looking for $5 eshop Credit in return, which is less than the eshop value for games like Kirby 3DS, Mario Kart 64 or Super Metroid. Please let me know if you are interested.

I don't think you can gift just $5 in eShop credit. Lowest card you can buy is $10.

Got two $5 codes today from getting Pikmin 3 from the MK8 promotion and another from when I first got the Wii U and redeemed a code for Zelda WWHD.

Can't find Poke Transporter anywhere on the Nintendo E Shop. Am I doing something wrong?
IIRC you have to download pokemon bank, and then transporter is downloaded from within Bank. Free trial is long over though, so if you're only in it for free coins don't bother since you need s "Bank" subscription to download and use transporter.

That's disappointing. Can I still get points for Rusty Baseball?

Correct, this is what I was referencing. I think that we will have many people getting $5 Deluxe Digital Promotion cards this weekend. I am looking for another one of those, and I can access Club Nintendo Points for Kirby 3ds ($7 on eshop), Super Metroid ($8 on eshop, last I checked), and Mario Kart 64 ($10 on eshop, last I checked), so I thought the price was fair for a trade.

With all the talk that Club Nintendo is having issues (most likely due to people trying to register Mario Kart 8 in order to get the free game), it was probably a smart thing that I picked this game up when my local Toys R Us opened on Friday morning, then registered a couple hours later before the site received the heavy traffic.

(hopes Nintendo is prepared for next Tuesday)

Next Tuesday?

Nintendo has posted about club nintendo problems:

"Thank you so much for picking up Mario Kart 8! We are still experiencing a high volume of traffic to Club Nintendo but don’t forget that you have until 7/31 to register with Club Nintendo for your free Wii U title. We are working on the issue and expect some improvement in the next few days. Thank you again for your patience."

Does anyone else get this message when trying to register?

The PIN you entered has already been registered. Each PIN may only be registered once.

im interested to see those mario kart 8 sales and wii u sales those copies are flying off shelfs lol
I've been amazed at the sheer number of people I'm finding online, it seems like half the WiiU install base bought this day 1 lol.

Sales are probably gonna hit a brick wall soon though.... which is a shame, because this game really is the 1st real argument towards owning a WiiU. I'm thrilled that we finally have a game worth playing.

Multiplayer is worth playing anyways. Single player sucks bad.... WTF were they thinking with this AI!?

Edit: I know it's early as hell, but it looks like this game is actually moving WiiU's. I'll be damned.

My registration survey for the free game after buying MK8 expires July 1 does that mean I can complete it on July 1st? I want to use the coins for the next club nintendo year to reach elite status.

Maybe it's the HD or maybe it's just not really playing much on my Wii U lately, but I'm having a blast with MK8... Probably one of the better MK games in recent memory IMO.

I don't think I'd go that far. The track design is certainly some of the best I've ever seen, but they skipped out in other areas. Battles are a real dissapointment, in fact I'd go as far as to say that they are borderline unplayable in this state. Even if they weren't gonna use new battle stages I don't see why they couldn't at least recycle from the past games. As a fan of battle mode, I am really wishing the Wii version was still online so that I could go between the two for VS and battle.

They apparently advertised this game as being aimed more at skillful players by turning down the rates for the blue shell and whatnot, but that's total BS. They've minimized the penalty for falling off the track to the point where it almost doesn't matter, and unless you are hit with a lightning bolt it seems like nothing can take away your items. That item you need to destroy the blue shell seems pretty damn rare when you are in the lead, and I'm honestly not sure if the rate of blue shells has decreased or not, but if it has it's not by much. As far as multiplayer goes this certainly feels like the most newbie friendly version to date, assuming they are comfortable with a CCP and don't use a Wii wheel.

Then there are other annoyances.... no real controller/HUD customization, Nintendo went into nanny mode again for voice chat and lobby messaging, item/race customization has been kept to a minimum again, single player is as shitty as it ever was, ect. And why they didn't incorporate a feature so that one person can race using the gamepad as their screen, without occupying space on the TV (like what CoD does for it's local MP) is beyond me.

The multiplayer racing aspect of the game is still amazing, and I can't believe a WiiU game is running this well online. Very much worth $60 price tag, and the first game that truly makes me feel justified in owning a WiiU at all. But they did cut some corners and failed to improve in areas that I'd think would be obvious in this day and age. As a battle fan, I just wish I could punch whoever thought this rendition of the mode would be acceptable, and I'll be really extremely pissed if the rumors of proper battle stages coming as paid DLC prove to be true.

I got f zero 64 when they offered it a few weeks ago but the game seems to have white snowy particles kinda like my digital version of gran turismo psp.  Kinda disappointing but the game is still way better than mariokart 64.

Just finished 100 percenting single player and unlocking the
gold kart.

Single player was pretty damn fun.  Took me about 20 hours to complete all the cups with 3 stars, 150CC and Mirror were challenging just like I had expected.

Those that think the game is too easy on 50cc and 100cc are missing the point.  The earlier modes are meant to help beginners and teach you the layout of the courses. Of course it is a grind if you have experience with MK or any racing game but the MK games are meant to cater to a wide audience and these early modes help open the game to kids/older people.  You still rack up coins and unlock parts along the way so the carrot to play these modes is there. The real challenge comes with the later modes and 3 starring every cup to unlock the special parts (good luck because it is challenging).  If you played MK7 it's the exact same way.

Will give the game a little break and eventually hop online.  Just like MK7 the game gets even better the more you play it. This is the most fun next gen experience I've had so far.

The game looks absolutely gorgeous and is more eye popping than most PS4 games I have played. Love the graphical style and I hope Nintendo can bring this high quality to future Wii U titles.

Agreed with everything you said but this.

MK has always been a game for everyone, and yet despite my poor MK skills I have easily gotten almost all through Mirror Mode. I would call myself a novice MK player, since I've been playing the games for so long I don't really count as a beginner. But the way people are talking about the later modes being very challenging would almost have me believe suddenly I became a pro over the course of the last few days? I can't even get the perfect score on the first 100CC Cup in MK Wii! I can barely finish 50CC in MK DS. But I'm almost done 3 starring all of MK8. I just can't comprehend this...maybe it's just this MK is too easy for me personally (not that I would at all say that's a terrible thing, it's still decent practice for me & I'm still loving the game). I just feel the game is in general much easier than the past MKs.

Lol why would he do that if he has points he is going to lose at the end of the month?

Good point.

Not such a good point.
Wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything. I thought that the point of you saying that someone needed to talk you into it was that maybe you were going to spend the points on something else, instead. I was trying to offer a way to get both. Kirby is a $7 game on the eshop, but I already have it, so I thought that you could get it a bit cheaper and I could get a game that I wanted on the eshop. I'm sorry if it came across the wrong way.

I redeemed one of the Club Nintendo codes from my physical copy of Mario Kart on my account but am now having second thoughts about not going digital. I understand I can register both physical and digital but I also understand that I will not get another free game from the promotion for Mario Kart.

Is there any downside to creating a new family account member and changing my Wii U linked Club Nintendo account to the new one?

Why are you people even playing the easier modes? You do realize a trophy/stars in 150cc gives you an equivalent trophy in 50/100cc right?
