[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

The two Kirby games are fun, but they're both too easy and too short.

Mario Party 2 is probably the best game in the series, but who doesn't already own at least one of those at this point? I don't see any reason to own more than one Mario Party.

Finally bought a Wii U early this month and in my Club Nintendo account there is a product registration survey for it with no stated expiration. I'm already platinum so I'd like to wait for July 1st. Am I good or am I risking 160 points? Thanks!

I've had my Wii U registration chilling since I bought the Wind Waker bundle on release and it still shows as available for 160 coins, so you should be good waiting. I've just been waiting on a "Register a Wii U and a qualifying game, get a free game" promo.

Well I was really hoping there would be some better games this month. But I guess holding off and waiting didn't pay off none of these games interest me. If anyone is interested. I have a ton of coins that I would be willing to trade for some eshop points. I could do like a combo of two of the game downloads or a game and physical gift they offer. Just let me know.

Yeah, pretty lame. I like Kirby, but I don't feel the need to play other iterations immediately after playing Triple Deluxe. It's almost a type of gluttony. Playing too much Kirby gives me a tummy ache  :whistle2:(

Was that before they added the 30 day limit on surveys?

So how many coins do registrations get you? I see the 160 for the Wii U, but what about games? I want that Mario Party 2 on my Wii U, haha.

Also, how does registering the handhelds work? I'm tempted to sneak my brothers' 3DS XLs into my account to get the coins, but they're pretty old, and it seems like you have to do it from the console itself.

I know that you get a total of 50 from 3DS games. Not sure about WiiU. About the second thing that won't work. You need the card to get points from a system. Not just the serial number.

This is what everyone in this thread posts a few days after the CN deals for the month go up. Welcome to the club :whistle2: Aaaaand I too, will continue to hold on to my points. There's bound to be new games next month as all the 30 cent promo games have already been offered up on CN. Right people??!! RIGHT?!?!?!

I'll keep grabbing at least the Wii U games if I don't own them. I hope they have good choices for the Gold/Platinum rewards, got Platinum on 2 accounts.

Not sure what type of games you people are expecting to buy with coins. Bravely Default? Mario Kart 8? Be reasonable.
It's kind of a Catch-22. The best games they could give away we probably already own, and when they go for lower tier stuff then it becomes a preference thing.

I agree. It's completely unreasonable to be disappointed most of the Wii U offerings were part of the $.30 promo and were most likely bought by a large number of Club Nintendo faithful when they were on sale. It's also disgusting that people would want different virtual console titles every month or even question the logic in Nintendo offering Kirby's Adventure after offering the 3D enhanced version last month. I swear, some people need to get their expectations in check.

This is a good response.

Hey, I'm happy for Mario Party 2. I never played that and my son has been firing up the Gamecube to play its Mario Party games. I'm sure he'll like to give MP2 a try. It's better than anything else I've seen in months on CN. At least it isn't a multiple repeat.

And I'll probably get the Electroplankton game too.

As for the Kirby games, I get completely confused on ones I already have vs ones I don't. I think I forgot to buy the 3D remake one. Ooops.

I forget how coins/surveys work for these things. If you download (and redeem) now do you get coins right away or do they only have post-play surveys that you have 30 days for? I'm already platinum so I'm waiting until July if I can (even for the Mario Kart 8 promo).

Yep, that space on the server HDD and IT support costs a LOT more than the packaging, shipping, storage, retailer cuts, and employees involved in the physical game market.
I do not disagree but that's not a Nintendo issue. Digital games overall cost too much money. That's the way it's always been. That's why I said that it's unreasonable to think otherwise.

It might be unreasonable to EXPECT things to change right now, but it's certainly not unreasonable for me to think that they SHOULD change. You didn't ask what we wanted that was reasonable, based on unreasonable tendencies, only what we wanted that was reasonable.

There's a guy on another forum who actually argued that digital games should cost more because of the convenience. My head almost exploded. I thought you were trying to do the game thing, or argue that digital games were more-expensive to distribute.

Maybe old news. I had 150 coins expiring, so I decided to order the Mario greetings cards. Surprisingly, they show up as only 200 coins when you go to place the order. Shows 300 coins on main page. I was happy.

Random: I have a spare CN code for Metroid: Other M if anyone has a spare CN code for Metroid Prime Trilogy they want to trade? (I re-bought Other M for $5 new, but the MPT I bought didn't have a valid code slip.)

Wow, way to create extreme sadness. I was 100% into getting Mario Party 2 on my Wii U, after registering my console on Club Nintendo, along with my games. Now...nothing to do.

And I'll probably get the Electroplankton game too.
I will point out again for anyone who might not know that what is being given on Club Nintendo is NOT the full release. It's a little chunk that was sold on the DSi shop focusing on one of the types of plankton. It's similar to the versions of Brain Age or Art academy that have shown up on CN.

Just don't want to see anyone spend their coins on it thinking it's the full game.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the scummy way they keep releasing the bits of the Electroplankton game. It was a cute release in cartridge form, but none of the games are enough to occupy you for a few minutes at a time.

So with the Mario Kart 8 game promotion I turned my account into a family account.  Does anyone know the details on what I can do with this?  I put in an extra wii fit code that I had and got another 100 coins, and it looks like all my coins from both the accounts under the family account are combined.  I might need to pick up some cheap wii fits from gamestop while I can.

I haven't done this myself, but I believe your coins are combined, but you can only get 1 platinum reward per household/master account.

Just be aware that they will catch on and suspend you if you suddenly start registering the maximum amount of everything.
