[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

is that an AD in your signature?
HAHAH I've been waiting for somebody else to call him out on that

I'd actually forgotten about it since it doesn't show up on my PC.... I think my adblocker started catching it rofl

The really ironic thing is that Pinger lets you text (and sometimes even call) for free :D/ Maybe I should put that in my sig :p

According to their FAQ, Nintendo usually announces the rewards mid July...so any day now

How many members can you add under a Club Nintendo family account?

I have added to family accounts so far.

Don't abuse it, I think they said they start locking down your accounts when they see that your obviously abusing it.

Adding the same game on all accounts etc.

Actually if your looking for a cheap cell plan look into republic wireless. You have to buy their moto g phone $150, but for $10 a month you get unlimited talk and text using sprints towers. No contracts, roaming fees, etc. Ive had it about a month now and im slowly converting everyone I talk to into signing up. $25 gets you unlimited 3g data if thats more what your looking for.

No thanks. I have Verizon's unlimited plan sibI am gonna keep riding that until those bastardksuckers cut me off for good (which will probably be soon, cheap bastards).

But even if I were switching Sprint gets terrible service in my area unfortunetely.

Really? That's considered abuse? I'm about to add a second Wii U to my family account & some more MK8 codes...so should I just make a new account?

I made 4 extra family accounts with nothing but MK8 codes and nothing happened to me.

On the other hand, my account was "mysteriously" deleted last July and Nintendo claims they are unable to restore it, and I was given no explanation whatsoever. So take that as you will.

It's not abuse if you are legitimately purchasing multiple copies and have a legitimate email account to associate to your family account username. I think it may be flagged suspicious if you suddenly register 8 copies of multiple game titles in a short time frame, though.

Between the two options, I would think that CN would rather you add a family account user than create a new account, since you can only get one Plat / Gold reward per family account (no matter how many users you add). Creating a second separate account and getting Plat / Gold on both of those was the first major reason why accounts were getting banned.

I don't think Nintendo prefers one way more than the other and really just wants to protect the program from being abused in general. To give you an idea, you can legitimately buy 8 copies of Wii Fit, use the codes and get 800 coins / more than enough to hit platinum status if you wanted to. Obviously Nintendo doesn't want that and will view it as abuse, just like I am sure they view some people as abusing the free game promo (I saw one CAG claiming to sell 8 codes and I was disgusted ~_~).

With that being said, I am sure Nintendo would be delighted to hear people load coins on burner accounts provided you don't hit elite status. Like if you make a new account for each MK8 copy, thats basically 60 or so coins you can't use and is too low to redeem for any prize. This is untrue for a family account, as each of the 60 coin copies will add to your overall status getting you closer to platinum / higher coin value and put you in a position to redeem better prizes.

I didn't think of that, but I don't know who would go through the effort of creating multiple separate accounts and not think of pooling those coins together into two accounts rather than three or more.

I have 4 MK codes (already used 2). Should I not do the last two? :(

Well, I mean I don't know the specifics, but I added them to my family account. I'm fine so far.

Hopefully someone can explain more in-depth as I'm not to sure.
WTF do you have that huge advertisement anyway?

Lol you are perfectly fine. I have 3-4 of a lot of my games and ive had my accounts for at least 4-5 years or however long its been since it started. I registered 5 MK8s on my family account.

Nah, you can get a Pikachu plushie anywhere. I want a Samus plushie ;)
Are you sure you don't want that to be life-size... and inflatable?

BTW, I think there is a thread around somewhere that talks about which CN pins will expire, anyone have a link to that?
Yeah, it would be the actual Club Nintendo thread (instead of this one which is just for the deals/rewards).

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/289665-new-cag-club-nintendo-u-i2b-wwhd-see-1st-post-for-new-info/

The two that have expired so far this year are Sin & Punishment (Wii) and Dragon Quest IX (DS).

And Megamania, if that is really an ad in your sig, please remove it. I never bothered to check it out because I just figured it was some snarky millennial inside joke or something.

In order to get the 160 points for a Wii U, do you just enter the serial number as the PIN at Club Nintendo? I had to create a new Nintendo Network ID because there's a 1 Wii U per ID rule.

My first Wii U was automatically recognized, I guess since the Network ID & Club Nintendo were linked.

When you tie your CN account to your NID I believe it automatically adds it to your queue of surveys. It just can take a while for it to show up. It also has a crazy long expiration so if you have pending surveys it's almost certainly at the end. I didn't see mine for a couple weeks because of that.

How do I tie the new NID to my Club Nintendo family account? I helped create one for my sister & she used her email during the sign up process. When I did it for my Wii U, I just had to sign in to link it. Thanks for the help btw

Is there a way to disassociate a Club Nintendo ID to a NID? I want to buy Mario Kart 8 digitally but already did it on all the accounts on my family account, I have a second family account with 0 Mario Karts on it.

Super depressing list of rewards, but at the same time... Just bought a Wii U and was super close to buying Earthbound. FREEE!

EDIT: Hmm... DKCR for 3DS might be the better choice given it's a full price game. IDK >.<

I see it now. Game & Wario and DKCR 3D are decent dollar values at least I guess.

Guess I'll lean towards Game & Wario since I have DKCR and it will get me like $3 back in DDP.

:puke:

So can we all agree this is worse than any of us expected since we all at least though Platinum would get something unique and physical?
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow it is all digital games, and then the prices on these normally are different anyways. Like how it was mentioned that Donkey Kong is a full retail game, like for example didnt Game and Wario launch at $40 and Earthbound is $7? What's up with that.

Seriously though, I'd rather have another poster set over a digital game...:/

Most likely will grab a game that's only offered digitally since I really hate how the currently you can't transfer games from one Wii U to another. (That and I usually prefer a physical copy anyways)

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow it is all digital games, and then the prices on these normally are different anyways. Like how it was mentioned that Donkey Kong is a full retail game, like for example didnt Game and Wario launch at $40 and Earthbound is $7? What's up with that.
Yeah, DKCR and Game & Wario are $30 MSRP right now and have physical releases. I believe everything else is $10 or under and eShop or VC releases.

Edit- NES Remix and Dr. Luigi are $15.

They should have like said, you get $30 (10/15 for gold), and let you pick otherwise one/a few of those games up to that value at least.

See, that could have been a cool idea for this disappointing reward. Earthbound, NES Remix, and Zelda 2 would have been OK with me.

I guess I'll be one of the few who is happy to get games, because outside of something amazing, I would have gotten a game anyway.

The only question is DKCR or NES Remix? I'm thinking that Returns offers the better value?

My plan: Grab digital Game & Wario, trade in my physical copy at GameStop for $12, maybe grab NES Remix with the credit.

How IS NES Remix, by the way?

Definitely the better value in my book. If you have a 3DS but not DKCR it is a pretty decent reward. The other games aren't nearly up to that level though.

Not that review scores are everything but goddamn the Wii U-exclusive games have horrible review averages. Gimme Shovel Knight :D
No, no. Shovel Knight's far too good to be a CN reward.

This also makes me not want to buy Earthbound (I've been holding out for a sale or until I was ready to play it) since all the games from last year showed up as monthly games. The platinum ones are less likely but Dillon's and Minis both were free this year if I remember correctly.

fuck - worse than anyone could have imagined!

I wish it was DK Tropical Freeze at least. I just can't justify getting a 3DS game that only one of us (me or my son) can play. So that limits me to the Wii U. I bought Earthbound day one. I have Game & Wario (unopened of course) on disc. So maybe I'll get that. But, wow, I don't know what to say...

Edit: Thinking about it a bit more... I suppose if I just sold my sealed Game & Wario for about $20-$22 after fees (and just download that for my platinum prize), that is probably a decent value for the platinum prize - and certainly more "value" in my mind than that CD from last year. So, yeah, while a unique Amiibo would have been awesome (and so totally fitting to help launch this new line of products - total missed opportunity there Big N) this is OK, I guess. While I can make it work out for myself, you'd have to figure most platinum-level people have most of the games from these lists that they already want though...

The worst part is that I just can't imagine picking anything but Game & Wario or DKCR because of the price disparity between those two and everything else. DKCR is probably the best game on the list but also the one that people most like already have but G&W by contrast definitely isn't. At a glance I would say it's probably in the 5-8 range depending on taste. I would rather have Earthbound, NES Remix, Zelda 2, or Dr. Luigi but I don't feel like I could justify picking one of those over it.
