[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

^ Hell, I'm already within 125 coins of platinum for the current year and I have several more games that expire this year that I'll have to redeem. Hopefully next year's reward is good, though I suspect they will have even more people hitting platinum with the Mario Kart 8 promo plus all the expiring games. So I could easily see it being worse next year.

DKCR is probably the best game on the list but also the one that people most like already have but G&W by contrast definitely isn't. At a glance I would say it's probably in the 5-8 range depending on taste. I would rather have Earthbound, NES Remix, Zelda 2, or Dr. Luigi but I don't feel like I could justify picking one of those over it.
I actually don't have DKCR (except the original Wii version). But I don't see myself playing it. I could get it for my son's 3DS but it seems less worthwhile to get something tied to one person's 3DS vs. a game tied to our family's Wii U, no matter how much that game sells for. So I'm pretty much ruling out any 3DS stuff.

I'm a little tempted on NES Remix instead of Game & Wario, but at half the price I think I'll just stick with Game & Wario. Like I said in my edited post, I can just sell my Game & Wario disc (which we never opened from when I got it for my son for Christmas). So that essentially means Nintendo is giving me $20 for the platinum reward. Meh, could be worse ;).

By the way, not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but you have until Aug. 15th to select a reward. I assume you get it immediately and don't have to wait until December for them to "ship" like with the physical rewards in the past. But then again this is Nintendo...

Okay, so I redeemed DKCR, but on the very last page, it didn't load correctly, and I didn't get a code to download it. Usually they also email codes to you, but I don't have any emails (checked spam folder, too). What do I do?

Honestly a digital full retail game is more useful to me than anything they offered last year. I just already own the ones on offer here. Well not DKCR 3D. Is that worth getting if you've already played the Wii version?

And can anyone confirm that we get these instantly? Might try to make a deal in the trade thread.

Going to trade in Game and Wario, what's the trade in value at BB/Gamestop?

Will get NES Remix or something else with the credit.

Game and Wario is kind of a bad game though.  It's worse than Nintendoland or Wii Party U.

This is so sad.  I was checking to see if I had a post play survey to do, and the pop up with the rewards came up.  I must have scrolled that bitch 4 times looking for something physical.

I used to defend Club Nintendo.

edit: Also Donkey Kong 3DS is inferior to the Wii U Tropical Freeze.  Not worth it.  There is no download play for multiplayer and even if you have 2 people with the game it lags horribly.

According to the app it is just $8 at Gamestop. But make that $12 with the 50% bonus that is going on now.

My son had played it on the demos at Gamestop and it seemed pretty fun. That's why I got it for him for Christmas. But for whatever reason we just never got around to playing it.

As for the codes being instant or not, it seems like they are supposed to but it is glitchy now which is to be expected. I'd just wait a few days before redeeming.

Sounds good to me. No rush I suppose. Pretty solid deal with the 50% trade in bonus.

Jeez, Nintendo, this is outright MEAN of you...
I wouldn't say it is mean, or even a bad prize in and of itself (the $30 games, anyway).

But it is sort of lame and lazy of them, that's for sure...

My first Platinum ever and this is what we get. (Just started playing Nintendo products in the last year after a 7 year hiatus) I didn't like DKCR so there is no way I'm getting that again. Game and Wario just isn't my cup of tea. UGH, there is no way I could get something else since they're not even worth those two. I almost have no choice but to get Game and Wario.

True, although any hardcore Nintendo fan would already own those games.

I suppose we'll be seeing the internet flooded with DC:R3D codes, since it's the most valuable/profitable.

Not even a calendar, which is especially shocking.  It'll be interesting to see what Japan gets this year.  Hopefully I can still look forward to getting some of their stuff, at least.

Thanks Nintendo.  I'll take the NES Remix though, that's one of the few VC items I don't already own.  Was still hoping for a nintendo themed plushie.

Edit:  I ended up getting game and wario for the digital deluxe points to get me enough for a $5 certificate.  I'll just wait for NES remix to go on sale for $10 and net cost me $5.

I've wondered for a while now if CN was going to become a fully digital offering... This may be the first step in that direction. I can't say I'm hugely disappointed though, I'm cool with a $30 game.

I'm actually alright with this. I've been meaning to pick up Game and Wario, and I'm assuming this will count toward the Deluxe Digital Promotion.
That makes it better. I have 2xx points so downloading Game and Wario should give me a $5 code.

edit- I'll just trade for NSMB2 Code and trade disc in that is of course if I can

I'm strangely okay with this too, and I've hit platinum every year except my first.

Grabbed DKCR3D, since it was on my "eventually buy" list.

Oddly, once I redeemed and put the code on my main 3DS, the Elite gift is still in my to do list at Club Nintendo. It's tempting to see if I can redeem something else, but I'm not sure if I want to risk it.

My biggest problem is that all the Gold games (except Kid Icarus) I already own and the Platinum game I want the most (Earthbound) I already have. Will probably go with Game & Wario due to DDP.

Then again, I already have more than a dozen games in backlog, so whatever game I chose wasn't going to get played right away anyway.

Well, I actually liked the physical rewards(whaaaaa???), can't say I'm thrilled with this. I've been wanting NES Remix, although I don't think I can pass up G&W with the DDP. Ugh.

I'm just another soul wishing there were physical rewards and probably getting Game&Wario for the DDP.   I'm sitting on a bunch of points too, I guess at this rate, I'll just use it on the monthly games instead of waiting on a reward I want.

First time they've done actual games developed for a modern system. That said, they must have had a $29.99 limit set. G&W with $2.99 digital deluxe is a good value and you can practically pay for one of the other cheaper games with the money you get from it. Of course, the game is over 3GB. At some point Nintendo is going to realize they fucked up with 32 GB of memory.

Edit:
I think it's safe to assume the remaining physical rewards will be redeemed and disappear and Club Nintendo will be only the rotating 4 game downloads.

Club Nintendo will be closed down before you ever see another physical object added. That's my guess so you better take what they've got left if you want physical rewards.

I've had something like this happen before. If you try to redeem again you'll get the Wario error page I bet.

They should just transition the whole program into what the digital deluxe program is now. Just have codes redeem for points toward actual eShop credit instead of random games.

I was hoping you guys were all lying.

Wtf Nintendo?!

Not even my calendar?!

I wonder if they're getting rid of physical rewards altogether and that's why the shop is empty ?

The only two platinum rewards I have are Earthbound and NES Remix. Too bad NES Remix 2 wasn't on the list, but it looks like I'm going with Dr. Luigi.

I agree with earlier posters, I got the CD last year and haven't used it. At least I will play Dr. Luigi.

I'll be getting Donkey Kong Country Returns for 3DS because I own most the other 3DS offerings either on 3DS or their original platforms.

Wal-Mart.com price is $27, I think it's the best offer.

^^^^ This, I'll be making sure to let Nintendo know that I don't want games I already bought for free. I mean the whole point of club nintendo is somewhat like a loyalty program so if you're platinum then you have a very high chance of having the majority of the games they may offer, which I do.

To say disappointed, doesn't strongly convey the face I made when I saw this.  It was more like:

I think I'm with everyone, I'll redeem Wario for DDR.  I really would have rather they just said.. here's 20 bucks.. go buy something nice.  That would have been a nicer F-off than what they've done today.

Exactly, and this used to be a place to get exclusive rewards from. Not something you can go buy any day of the week. Hopefully with sales picking up on the Wii U, next years prize will be something physical at least.

I'm leaning toward NES Remix.  I know Game and Wario is "worth" more but I have zero interest in Gamepad gimmicks.  And I already have DKCR for the 3DS.

What is Earthbound?  I guess I'll go peek at a YouTube review.

Edit:  Lol nevermind, I got bored trying to watch the review.

Pretty disappointed myself, as I already own all these rewards. I've got no desire for a digital Game & Wario, or DKC 3D, since I've completed and enjoyed them both on retail releases.

I remember a bunch of people saying they still had their poster sets from last year sitting around. Any one want to trade my download code for the poster set from last year? Really like that Pikmin poster. Or maybe one of the Button Sets from a few years ago. I'd pay for shipping. Shoot me a PM and we can work out details.

Me too. DKCR is definitely the way to go for those that don't have it already.

Dear Nintendo: If you are going to use digital rewards for platinum members, please do something exclusive like the GBA games you gave to 3DS Ambassadors. These standard eShop titles are pathetic.

Sorry gold members, Dillon's Rolling Western is platinum-only >_>

Just redeemed DCKR ,not enough "blocks" on the sd card. Even if I erased everything it still would not be enough. I'm not erasing the three Mega Man games that are only 60 some "blocks". I play those more than anything on my 3DS. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a bigger sd card than the one it came with. Should have already, but I don't buy digitally often, and when I do it's VC games. Just something those redeeming DKCR may want to keep in mind.

Man, hopefully this is a one-off thing. I'm going to miss getting new posters every year, especially since last year's were so lovely (well, the Luigi one not so much). Well, getting Donkey Kong Country Returns.

alfaflyt, try to get a 32GB card, that will last you forever.

Hah same here, its not too bad...at least I will use them. I just wish I didnt own most of them, though Ill be looking to buy Game and Wario, Earthbound, and the Wii U gold VC games. They probably went all digital b/c they dont know how to ship rewards in the proper packaging...like CDs, which end up having to be replaced.

I'm happy as hell with these rewards as I always either got the game or just didn't redeem. I have zero interest in gaming knickknacks, calendars, posters, soundtracks etc. Absolutely nothing wrong with that stuff, but that's just not how I decorate my home. I don't even collect games, and just sell everything after beating. So I don't have a game room or anything where I'd remotely want to display that kind of stuff.

So having several games to choose from is fantastic. Especially since I've been tempted to get DKC: Returns 3D but not wanting to pay $25-30 for it since I'm not sure I'll finish it due to the difficulty level.
