[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

My God. I've been happy with all the other Nintendo rewards (both the yearly and the redemption ones) - the shirts, posters, gold nunchuck, Luigi statue we all pretty cool. This is just crap though. I may be done with Club Nintendo if this is the way it is going - all digital junk. I'd be better off just trying to sell my points for a few bucks before the next end of the year.

I'm happy as hell with these rewards as I always either got the game or just didn't redeem. I have zero interest in gaming knickknacks, calendars, posters, soundtracks etc. Absolutely nothing wrong with that stuff, but that's just not how I decorate my home. I don't even collect games, and just sell everything after beating. So I don't have a game room or anything where I'd remotely want to display that kind of stuff. So having several games to choose from is fantastic. Especially since I've been tempted to get DKC: Returns 3D but not wanting to pay $25-30 for it since I'm not sure I'll finish it due to the difficulty level.
I don't mind them either but I would have preferred a $29.99 eshop code to get something different. Obviously they're hoping the 3ds game will turn people onto it and buy Tropical Freeze. As for G&W, I'd wager sales were in the toilet so they gave a game no one would spend money on.

I am pretty happy--I've always wanted better digital games instead of physical prizes--but I wish they were more evenly valued just to make choosing easier. I probably would enjoy Earthbound the most, but I'm also interested in Game and Wario/NES Remix, which are more expensive and I'm less likely to ever buy with real money. Oh, to be fraught with choice.

Once again Nintendo does not disappoint by managing to top even last year's incredible reward. Only one question remains: where do they go from here?

WTF I'm trying to redeem my elite gift now and it's saying "sorry this is only available for Platinum members only"

I reached plat months ago

:puke:

So can we all agree this is worse than any of us expected since we all at least though Platinum would get something unique and physical?
It's pretty bad, but at least this justifies my putting off buying Earthbound, as it's really the only thing out of both lists that I feel has the most value in terms of guaranteed enjoyment and game length, plus nothing else interests me and I already beat DKCR 3D. I've got an excessive amount of eShop credit as it is, so I don't mind skipping G&W's bonus contribution to Digital Deluxe Rewards.

What is Earthbound? I guess I'll go peek at a YouTube review.

Edit: Lol nevermind, I got bored trying to watch the review.

Considering G&W gives $2.99 back in digital deluxe promo, it seems like a no brainer as it cuts the cost of Earthbound to $7.

Earthbound is on sale on the EU eshop this week so I'd wait until tomorrow at least to find out if it happens to be on sale here...though chances are that it probably will not, but you never know.

Hopefully with sales picking up on the Wii U, next years prize will be something physical at least.
I think you're jumping aboard the Disappointment Express a little early there Chief.

I wonder if they're phasing physical rewards out entirely, I guess well see what happens with the physical stuff over the next 12 months.

I think I'll get G&W as my reward and just buy Earthbound. Dat Digital Deluxe yo !

Man, I wish I got the earthbound reward, but alas I only managed gold on two different accounts, doh.

I guess metroid and warioland. Maybe Zelda 2 or Mario land 2, but I forget if mario 2 was any good.

Color me disappointed. I don't have a 3DS anymore, so that just leaves me with the Wii U games.  The only one of interest that I don't already have is G&W, but I rented that few months ago and got bored with it within an hour.  I should just sell my reward again like last year...

Used my phone and was able to redeem DKCR. Almost picked up NES remix but I didn't get to plu DKCR much so that one was a no brainer for me.

I'm fine with it this time as there aren't any other 3DS games I haven't played that I'm really interested in.

But yeah, overall I'd rather them just scrap the program and have the codes just earn points toward Eshop credit. Basically like the digital deluxe promotion. Stuff like that is a good way to get people to start getting more used to digital games. Which is of course good for them as it cuts down on the second hand market.

As far as the platinum rewards are concerned, the best reward/value for your buck is DKCR (good game).  But I already owned that game and sold it recently, so don't see myself getting it again.

Will have to get NES Remix cause its the only thing I might play for 5 minutes.  A shame, I would have taken almost anything that was a physical item or figure, just to put it in my office.

That's what I did last year.....Zelda CD sold very well

I have Nes Remix and Game and Wario already downloaded. I've had DK and it wasn't good. As a first time CN user and first year getting Platinum or anything for that matter, i am extremely disappointed. I am not interested in a single one of those games.

I was hoping for a physical gift. A few years ago I got this really nice deck of cards that we never use because it looks too good.

I ended up with NES Remix, first impression with it is how terribly lagging the controls for Mario are. I push the jump button... wait.. wait... then he jumps. At least the new Games with Gold title is out today...

Wow those rewards really suck. I am pissed. I am a collector so if it is on a disc I will not get it digital. I'll probably get earthbound for myself and g&w and dkcr to sell.

I am going to be furious if they are ditching physical rewards. Totally a letdown. If anyone wants to get anything for $20 paypal, let me know. If anyone is trading a physical game and wario to gamestop for like $12, I will trade for a digital code if you want.

Also I recommend nes remix, great game.

I'm thinking of getting Game & Wario purely for the digital deluxe credits. I would sell my code because I'm not going to play any of these games for more than three hours, but how much money would someone honestly pay for a digital copy of Game & Wario or DKCR:3D?

Well between me and my girlfriends accounts I just ended up getting DR luigi and Earthbound. However between both of us i can't see 1200 coins (to get platinum) justifying those 2 games.

I bet nintendo has a certain budget set up for club nintendo annual gifts. It seems like the prizes have gotten steadily worse as more people started reaching platinum each year.

I feel bad for people who expected something along the lines of previous prizes...this feels like a bait and switch.

Man.. Im a little dissapointed. I like the idea of physical prizes, though I havent really liked the previous 2 years prizes.

But at least there are a few decent choices for digital games. Ive got DK already on wii, but I guess Ill pick it up again for 3ds.

this feels like a bait and switch.
It doesn't FEEL like a bait and switch, it IS a bait and switch. They totally advertised a specific item and then when you went to get it from them, they told you that they didn't have it anymore and offered you something else instead.

It's so clear that this is EXACTLY a bait and switch scenario.

I'm just glad that everyone is starting to see it exactly for what it is.

I know the rewards aren't that great but are people really complaining about a free service that gives you rewards just for buying Nintendo Games/System that you may have already done?

I mean free is free and these are still some great digital games regardless if there's no Collectible physical items.

On the other hand this feels like a big FU to me since I don't own Nintendo systems anymore.

So I got just about every one of these games and the best ones are DKCR and G&W, which I have physical copies of. I already registered them so do I get another survey for the digital copies? Also, even though the G&W does not hold its value as well as DKCR and is not as good a game, it should get me 299 points for the Wii U deluxe Digital Program.

DKCR seems to trade in for $13 at GS and $8 for G&W and I think there is a 50% deal right now. So $19.50 for DKCR and $12 for G&W. I think I may be redeeming DKCR and getting that extra used game trade in credit and buying a $20 eShop card.

Nintendo of America's budget for the annual gifts this year is $0.

hahaha

Digital and physical releases count as separate games on Club Nintendo.

This is terrible. The best value is Game and Watch or DKR3D. Wow, just pathetic Nintendo. Sure, I still have my button set unopened but at least it's a physical item.

Thank god I got that Luigi's Mansion statue (one from America and one from Japan)

Please don't start the whole, "well it's free" argument.  It's been done multiple times and you're not changing anyone's mind.  It just ends up cluttering the forum.

I can't decide what to get.  I'm kind of excited to see retail release games available, but I agree that the selection sucks.  I already own G&W, and I'm only 70 points away from a $5 ddp.  I already beat DK on the Wii, and can't really see myself playing it again.  Dr. Luigi or NES Remix seem like the only real options to me, but I don't have much of an interest.

I have a sealed Pikmin 3 at home, if anyone wants to trade a Mario Kart 8 Pikmin 3 code for one of the Platinum games, let me know.  Then I could sell my sealed Pikmin 3, get $10 in ddp, and feel like I accomplished something.
