[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

I fell off the Nintendo wagon this year, but managed to get Gold status before I traded in my 3DS and games. To that end:

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

A05A-TU1B-0JFP-HVCH
Unsurprisingly lurked. Really can't believe that someone wouldn't even say thank you for that.

I hope nintendo puts smash bros n64 as the next reward... The cartridge has become super expensive, especially since the new smash is coming soon.

sadly i don't have a wii-u. I just hope something good comes up for 3ds. Last day of the current offers and I'm still debating whether to pick up 3d classic kid icarus or save my coins.

I'm hoping for stuff I don't want. I only have 30 coins, I'll be pissed if this is the month they give out SMB3 or Oracle of Ages/Seasons.
I've never had more coins thanks to the MK8 promo and the free games also giving coins. I only redeemed 2 MK8 codes but bought the other 2 games from a CAG, so I got all 4 new games, along with Game & Watch on my account. And that's on top of a bunch of expiring codes I have to redeem this year (so I'll get lots more coins soon enough). I want something to spend them on!

I don't have a Wii U, so if they have great Wii U games I won't care. :)

Come on Dr. Luigi! I really want Nintendo to do a final  fuck you to those that platinumed last year.

I already received a gold reward. If I was somehow able to also receive a platinum reward would Nintendo know and do something about it?

If you figure out an exploit and somehow trick the system into giving you not only one from a higher tier you didn't earn, but one more than most other people, then Nintendo might do something. Keyword is might, but I am willing to bet they won't bother (probably more effort to reprimand you than it's worth), though most people on CAG will probably want to crucify you for Nintendo. Perhaps a sacrifice might get us some better rewards... well anyway, secret plans aside, I doubt anything would happen.

Now if you simply mean buying a code from someone, then Nintendo will most likely do nothing and probably couldn't care less. I'm not even 100% sure Nintendo makes special codes for these rewards, since they give DDP despite things like the Mario Kart 8 promo FAQ stating otherwise. At most Nintendo might flag your account and see if your using multiple accounts to farm elite rewards, but again, this is most likely way too much effort for Nintendo to justify. Heck, I called about getting my DDP fixed 18 days ago and still nothing, so if this is how they handle adding missing points, I wouldn't worry about it in the least.

Nothing good on club Nintendo atm. Didnt have
Plat this year anyway. Still love CN got the kirby
Coin sealed still and the Zelda MM soundtrack sealed.

Has anyone else had a survey abruptly expire on them?  Registered one of my Mario Kart 8 games on July 17th and the registration expired on the 24th?!  That's not cool at all.

Edit- Just did the Pikmin 3 registration that was set to expire 8/16 and the post play survey immediately appeared with an 8/16 expiration?!

My Donkey kong country returns 3d survey was scheduled to expire 8/15 for both the registration and post play

Had a survey abruptly expire on me too. WTH?! Give me a few months at least!

I think I'm done with the Nintendo rewards club. Between the crappy digital only rewards this year and the abruptly expiring surveys, I've had enough. Its cheaper for me to buy the physical games used and then use whatever money I save to buy the downloadable games. Hell, its probably cheaper for me to buy the physical club rewards off of Ebay than it is for me to buy every game new for club coins.

I don't see how you guys can be mad at a free program. I mean, just because you have to buy the games, fill out the surveys and possibly now plan your life around Nintendo's whims at Club Nintendo, doesn't really matter because it's free. I now feel the need to state the obligatory and extremely annoying "if you don't want your coins, I'll gladly take them!"

Seriously though! Thats rough. I know Nintendo is trying to lighten the cost of Club Nintendo, but if they keep going in this direction they might as well just kill off the program altogether. It's really starting to hit a point where morale is so low that even faithful supporters will opt out due to disinterest / hate of the program.

is it just me or is Gold only 200 coins this year? I have 20 coins in my account currently and it says "180 to Gold"...
It's still 300 as near as I can tell. Maybe it's a glitch. I know a few times it has said I'm -320 (because I was platinum) away from being gold and then on a later reload it was back to normal.

Games are resetting tomorrow. Can't wait for more disappointment :(

Its a "free" program. Nintendo could also give the option of not rewarding anything. Such must always be remembered.

I'm new to the club and have 500 coins to spend. Paper Mario seems like an alright game to get for free but I can't help but wonder if I should save for better options.

Depends on your definition of better. If you're waiting for something like a nice t-shirt, then you might as well cash out now. However, if you define better as something like Super Mario Bros. 3, then you'll probably want to save your coins.

Well, I went ahead and grabbed Kid Icarus.  Turns out the game is pure evil.  I'm not sure I'm having fun, or if I'm just pissed.  It's everything I could want in an NES game!

True, but I have been with CN since its first year in 2009. Only occasionally have they given out "amazing" gifts and every time they do, they are a LTO.

I seriously have 1015 Coins and nothing to do with them ATM.

Room for one more on that boat? @ Wazzup, does it make you feel any better than I have over twice as many coins as you do and absolutely no clue what to get and more importantly, have zero faith I'll find anything to spend them on?
