[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

I'm 8 points away from a $5 eshop credit on DDP. Does anybody know something that's under $1 that I could get? I was going to get a club nintendo game but none of these interest me.

MK8 DLC seems like an obvious buy if you haven't gotten it already. With the DDP return that comes out to $7 for the $12 combination price which is a damned good deal.

Yup, having the same problem with Kirby as everyone else. Probably going to wait a few hours and try again later.

Give it a few minutes. Mine did the same at first.
Does that mean you were eventually able to redeem your code? Mine's throwing the same error that everybody's seems to be.

without looking im gussing crap. love to see some sort of good game up there

Looks

Now

and

pure crap on the 3ds side

Well, this sucks: I'm only 70 points away from Platinum. Okay, I know that sounds good, but by the time I get the Smash Wii U and 3DS, it will go way over that. :( Should I make a new account JUST because I'm about to go over?

Kirby's back up on the rewards list now.

I really want Super Punch Out but I wish it wasn't the Wii VC version. Not getting the full DDP for it is also a bit of a buzzkill.

As someone who hates Ocarina of Time and loves A Link Between Worlds, will I like the original Zelda?
ALBW has way more in common with the original Zelda with the open exploration and letting the player find things for themselves. However, NES Zelda provides almost zero direction and might frustrate you depending on which generation of gaming you've grown up with. I loved it as a kid and still think it's perfectly playable, although it hasn't aged nearly as gracefully as Link to the Past or Link's Awakening.

I would say yes, it's really the primitive Zelda formula but I find it's still very enjoyable even to this day. Without a world map or Nintendo Power or prior knowedge of the game it may be extremely difficult to find all the dungeons and items you need without looking stuff up online. As typical with NES games the secrets are pretty well hidden.

Lol, was trying to pull the link from the html to try to get kirby but it came back up. Now wondering if I should get super punch out, mario, or zelda.

Hates? I can understand disliking, but hates? That seems like a super strong opinion for a game like Zelda. It isn't Big Rigs or Superman 64. LOL

Well, I think I might just get Punch Out (been enjoying the first one a lot) and upgrade instead of Zelda. I remembered I still haven't beaten Oracle of Ages and Wind Waker HD, so I might just forget about this one in a few days. Also, I'm gonna be lost as heck and probably be frustrated since I'm not the best at exploring in games. Thanks for the info bros...

Off my topic but in topic: Bought Kirby and looks great right from the intro...

Pretty good rewards this month. Although Super Punch out is less of a deal since it cost more points, you have to pay an additional $1.50 to upgrade, and you don't get any ddp points for the base game. Also dont know if you get any Club Nintendo points since it's a Wii download. But the NES original is so much fun I can imagine this being even better. Still debating.

Kirby on the other hand is a no brainer.

SMB and Zelda are also tempting for on the go fun.

Never got into Pictobits. Probably need to revisit it. I love precipice.

There's a very strong chance you'll love it. It doesn't hold your hand, there're no chaperone character (no fairy, no ship, no talking hat). It forces you to manage your resources, to make fucking heartbreaking decisions with rupees. It lets you make mistakes and get lost. It's pure uncut no-bullshit Zelda, and while there are other Zelda games I like a lot, none of them is quite like the first.

So Jealous seriously......US Club Nintendo sucks

That Pikmin keyring is delightful, and I'm bummed about how delightful it is.

Guys, I need some help here. So, I got Super Punch Out, and went to go enter the code in the Wii Shop channel, but apparently I cannot access any online features with the Wii mode because of my router security type, WPA2-PSK. So, I have a code but no way to redeem it I guess? I don't know what to do here. Is there any way around this, or do I have to contact Nintendo to try to get my coins back?

I never would have thought the router provided by my cable company that works fine with everything including the Wii U would be some sort of barrier, it just seems totally ridiculous to me, unless I'm missing something here.

Bring your wii-u to a friends house, use their internet, and redeem the code.

Also can't you change the security type in the router settings temporarily to WEP? Most routers will let you do this.

If you DID take your Wii U somewhere else, one small advantage is that it's the only console that doesn't need to be hooked up to a TV to get working thanks to the GamePad.

That IS an absurd limitation, though. I know the DS only supported WEP but could have sworn the Wii supported all modern types of encryption. Nintendo really has no idea how to do anything online do they? It's a wonder the stuff they DO have is as functional as it is.

dont see why they are saying good rewards most of them have been offered in the past, i know zelda has been a few times .

Alright, I fixed it, but thanks for the responses! I changed the encryption to WEP, which was a journey of itself because my router is from charter, and the default login info doesn't work. So I scoured the net and found the login info for my router, changed it over, and it still didn't work. Then, I changed the MTU settings in the Wii U, and bingo.

Now I'm trying to do a transfer so I can upgrade to the Wii U version, and it's taking forever.

They are good rewards. The first Super Mario and Zelda are great games. I've played Zelda a bunch of times since I originally owned it on NES as a kid. I had it on my GBA and Wii, but I only got my 3DS back in March. For you they might not seem so great, but this is the first opportunity I've had to get these games since owning a 3DS and knowing what club nintendo is.

Off the top of my head, can't say we've had a better month for digital items this year. You wanna give an example of a better month?

Seeing how Kirby gives you DDP and CN points in addition to the game, I think that is an awesome reward this month especially at that cheap price.

Nothing is worse than the feeling of waking up in the morning, noticing this thread, and realizing you accidentally let a survey expire the day before. Dammit.

Yep, apparently they tweeted:

Nintendo of America  @NintendoAmerica

Select Club Nintendo Platinum members will have received four download codes for the #SmashBros for #3DS demo. Check your emails!

If I don't get one it's going to be a long week of checking my phone every time it tells me I have a new email. Hopefully that post tense doesn't mean it's already gone out to everyone that's getting it though. :whistle2:(
