[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

redeemed both for the soundtrack. was holding out until the last second with hopes of a "buy a wii u/3DS and register a game that included SSB and receive a free game" but I guess not. platinum now too.

I'm going to do the same after work (minus having something to trade in). I'll also have to finally crack the seal on my SSB Wii U bundle. Haven't had an opportunity to play it, so it's just been sitting on the shelf.
Your statement about having nothing to trade in.... you can trade smash 3DS back after you have redeemed the code. That is what I did. Bought it, went out to the parking lot, entered the CN code, and then walked right back in and traded the game back in as a used game. Not sure what the trade in value currently is, but when I did it, when stacked with gamers club unlocked, it worked out to about a net $7.00 cost between new purchase price and used trade in value.

Soundtrack alone was probably worth the $7. It probably won't get a different US release officially. Buying Mewtwo is going to be a couple bucks minimum too.

My Pikmin case came in the other day also. This is my first one. They are pretty nice; definitely worth it for a good quality carrying case.
From the pictures, they just look like a regular 3DS game case, but with extra slots inside. Am I wrong about this?

Same basic design but it's the thickness of a DS case and heavier plastic.

What's the best way to sell my Pikachu 3DS XL? I want my body to be ready for the "New" 3DS.

eBay unless your body is ready to be violated by a stranger.

Since it's been brought up, is a trade in offer (after system transfer) the best option for a regular 3ds xl?

I think I eBayed my regular 3ds when I upgraded to my xl because I had accessories. I still have accessories for my xl (waterfield 3ds xl case, extra styluses), but idk if I'd get more selling them separately or with the 3ds.

Offtopic: my wife will be in the US in the beginning of February but will leave on the 13th. I was wondering about getting an Amazon preorder for Majora's Mask, but how often (if at all) do preorders arrive before the release date?

WIthout Prime it's very unlikely.

Very seldom and even getting it on launch day has with Prime and their guarantee has not been reliable over the last year plus.

Even with Prime it's not guaranteed.

Thanks, I do have Amazon Prime actually. My wife could go to a local Gamestop on launch day morning, but I'm afraid the game might be out of stock.

Got my Zelda game case yesterday. Really good quality. Now I just have to find a safe place to store the extra inserts (I'm a pack-rat collector)

I don't want to be violated. :(

You can't transfer without having the new system first can you?
Nope! Unless I sell my Pika after the New 3DS comes out, I think I'm gonna get a used 3DS to serve as a middleman and just return afterwards. LOL

Can the 3DS and *New* 3DS streetpass with eachother?  You might want to check before getting rid of the old system, it could be useful.

Figured I would post it here...

I just received an email from Nintendo with 3 extra early access Monster Hunter 4 demo codes. First 3 CAGs to PM me each get one.

Gone!

I got the MH4 demo, but I have no friends, so I'll just put these here.  Good luck.

Thx, been waiting for a code for a couple hours.

used - a07102m52smy7jct

I checked the other 2 and they have already been used.

Might as well spread the Mon hun love around, if I ever get the demo code email.

I didn't get Monster Hunter demo codes. Weird. I didn't get Smash Bros codes either last year. I wonder why that is. I've been a Platinum Club Nintendo member for as long as the service has been running in the US.

Nintendo really does hate me, jeez.

Those bastards saints gave me $90 in eShop credit today, apparently my Wind Waker HD and Pokemon Y code both expired. I had not knowledge of this happening and the emails never stated it but they came through. They still hold a special place in hell after last years Platinum Prize and only giving you a month to choose your prize, which totally flew over my head.

You needed to have your CN account signed up to receive marketing e-mails prior to the Smash codes being sent out to get them, and that's it. If you had that done ahead of time and still didn't receive any codes, then you could have e-mailed them and had them send you some. Not sure what the flag for the MH demo code is.

I checked my account settings shortly after the Smash codes failed to arrive to discover that marketing e-mails were indeed ticked on.

I haven't been receiving any of the demo codes either. In fact, I haven't received any emails from Nintendo at all since September. I figured something was wrong, so I checked my Nintendo Network ID settings via the system menu of my 3DS. For some reason, marketing emails were in fact set to not send. I had no idea that this option even existed in my 3DS settings, but I guess this explains why I haven't gotten any demo code since Tomodachi Life. Dagnabbit...

Hmm, turns out Mario Galaxy 2 on the eShop did come with coins after all.  I just got 20.

EDIT: And it will be sending a post play survey apparently.  Fantastic.  I'm under 100 to Plat and I've still got a console and 4 codes to redeem....and 5 months to wait for the roll over...fantastic...

Ok yeah, same for me. That explains why I haven't been getting any of the demo codes even though I had emails set to on through the website. Maybe now I'll get codes and be part of the cool kids.

Where is this hidden under in Nintendo Network ID settings? I'm having trouble finding it.

Looks like the Zelda game case sold out. Glad I got one. I'd like to the Animal Crossing one, but I won't have enough coins until the New 3DS comes out. Hope it stays in stock until then.
