I got some parts for my birthday, so I put the parts that I have together (motherboard [with onboard graphics], CPU, memory, PSU) and when I turn the computer on, all the case fans and CPU fans turn on, but there's nothing on the screen (it's still in standby mode.) I know the monitor works, I double checked all connections, reseated memory, but still nothing comes up on the screen when I press the power button just the fans come on (no beeps to signal an error, either).

Anyone have any clue what the problem could be, or could offer some advice? It should at least boot into BIOS without a CD drive or HDD connected, right?

Those, plus the case, are all the parts I have connected, so it should at least POST shouldn't it?
These are all brand new parts, btw. I'm not reusing anything from an older computer.

I've found out it's not the memory, or at least it's not just one of the sticks (it could possibly be both sticks that are bad.) I tried one stick at a time and still nothing shows up on the monitor when I turn it on.
Also, I don't even get an error when the memory is completely removed, the fans turn on and nothing else happens.

Yep, 20+4 pin plus the smaller 4 pin ATX connector. I even tried it with just the 20 pin along with the seperate 4 pin connector (since the motherboard will work with either) and I still get nothing.
Just tested the PSU and every connector is well within the allowed tolerances.
Found this article on testing the motherboard outside of the case, and I got no beeps when it said I should get 3. I'm assuming that means the motherboard is bad?
Argh, it probably is. Sorry for wasting your time asking questions, but I was just worried since it's my first build.

Already did that. I shorted the pins to clear it, and also tried removing the battery when that didn't work. Still get the same results.

try to unplug the memory, clear the RAM pins with pencil eraser (sounds crazy but works for me). and then plug again.....

My guess is you did not seat the mobo properly. Either your missing a screw or one of the standoff posts is not aligned properly. Try reseating the mobo, make sure all the standoff's are in the right spot.

Hope This Helps

How is the computer connected to the monitor are you using the DIV or the VGA? is it possible that the RAM you have is not compatible with the mobo?

The wonderful world of computers.

This could be any number of things. Are sure every part you have works? One of my computers did this and it turned out that the motherboard didn't work anymore. A second one did this and I never figured what it was exactly as I didn't have the money to experiment with different parts, but after some research I decide the power supply failed and wasn't providing enough power.

Hope this helps.

It was a bad motherboard, I already RMA'd it and have a new motherboard up and running, but forgot to close the thread. Thanks for the help though.
