Build a new one. How much is your budget?

Ok, I take it that is just to spend on the computer itself, or do you need a mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc.?

You might be able to build a better box if you cannibalize your parts, such as your HDD and your case. I just upgraded to a Core 2 quad 6600, 4 gigs of Patriot DDR2 800, an MSI p7n mobo, and an NVidia 8600GT with 1gig for $600 by using old parts. You could easily get a budget Core 2 Duo, mobo and a 512 gig video card and a couple of gigs of RAM on newegg for $500. you need a better psu, of course.

For about $600 you can build a decent gaming PC. It won't play newer games on high settings but it's also very upgradeable.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4200+ X2 Brisbane - $60
Mobo: ASUS M3A - $90
RAM: Corsair XMS2 2x1GB DDR2 800 - $29 AR
GFX: GeForce 8800GT 512MB - $180
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 500w - $35 AR
Case: CoolerMaster 590 - $60 AR
HDD: Western Digital 320GB SATA II - $70
Optix: NEC 7190S - $26

Total: $550
That will be very upgradeable. Motherboard supports Phenom processors and up to 8GB of DDR2 1066. Feel free to pick a case that you think looks nice (the CoolMaster has very awesome cooling for hte price though), a smaller/larger HDD as you see fit. This is pretty much the PC I recommend to anyone with a $500 dollar price range. You could definitely reuse your hard drive and save $70.
