I used to play religiously and stopped once my clan went to cal-m and I couldn't put forth the time to play that much.

alas, I miss playing and am wanting it on the cheap. I know it's only $10 if you buy it from valve, but i'm guessing since this has been out for almost 10 years, there has to be a cheaper way to get it.

I dunno about getting it cheaper by itself, but you could probably get a better overall value by buying one of the bundles.

but have you used the CD-Key?

AFAIK if they just used the cd-key for playing it when the game still used WON for online play, then you are safe.

If they registered the key with their Steam account, however, then it's not useful to you.
