From previous experience, Demon Souls collectors were really limited. Dark souls didn't really have a collectors. PS3 version most likely to go first because the main community originated from Demon Souls which was only for the ps3.
 
The Collector Edition is priced at $119.99 and includes a cloth map of the game's world, an art book and a 12" Warrior Knight figurine. It also contains the Black Armor edition of Dark Souls 2, meaning you'll have a soundtrack and metal case - Joystiq.com

I'll have to get myself the black armour edition. Even though Dark Souls was possibly my favourite game of all time I'm not sure I want to splurge on the full CE

 
Anyone know if EB is offering cheap Guides with a pre-order? Or if SDM can pre-order the black ed?

Not sure if guides are even set to print. I remember trying to get a dark souls guide. Took about 2 months to receive it cause it was lost in the mail. Ended up getting it for free.

 
I preordered this back in October. Very excited. Dark Souls is definitely my favourite last-gen game. I don't usually like statues as bonuses but I make an exception for this. :)

I went in to get a DaS guide about a week after launch. EB had none, and they told me if you pre-ordered it when you pre-ordered the game it was only $10, and retails for $20. I ended up having to pay $35 off amazon.

But yeah, future-press mentions nothing about this game.... so not sure.

Never heard of this. When EB usually lets you save on a guide, it's usually 20% if you pick the game up with it.

 
I could have the details muddled, but I think that was the gist of it. As he said they tend to just order enough, because if a guide doesn't sell in the first week, they generally end up not selling is what he said. I guess I just need to get into EB and do the pre-order.

This much is true. Any guides that don't sell on launch day tend never to sell at all, no matter how much they're promoted or offered (which, to be fair, is not very much). EB often just tears up and throws away old guides.

 
I noticed amazon is now the only retailer of that bunch that is selling it for $60 while the other retailers are selling it for $65

 
I just picked up my Collector's Edition from EB Games and also received the Black Armour Edition by mail from FutureShop.

But my Collector's Edition from FutureShop is listed as "Out of Stock". Has anyone received a CE from FS.ca?

I might just cancel my order since my EB CE is absolutely mint.

I'd cancel (in fact, I already did cancel a second CE copy :)). The outer box is pretty flimsy, my EB instore pickup isn't mint (just OK), and I'd shudder to think of what what the mail would do to them. Plus it's of the 'physically gigantic and large print run CE' variety (or at least I think the print run is big? They were still readily available online yesterday), so I can see it popping up on clearance sales in couple months. Can you think of any CEs this physically big that've maintained their value? I can't. Catherine maybe, but it's half this things size, and far more sturdy.

I'm not so sure. BB/FS are back order, plenty people complaining on gamefaqs that their gamestop screwed them up, and my own EB Games sold out on CE preorders days after it was announced. You might be confusing with another CE.

 
No I'm not confused, Amazon.ca and .com were both still taking pre-orders yesterday, listing the release date in green or whatever. They are still taking orders today even, but seem to be suggesting stock is coming. So who knows how that'll pan out. It could be soldout, I really donno.
 
Regardless, my point is physically gigantic limited editions don't really keep an investment value that well. They're huge, I don't know where to put mine. If the value actually goes up, a lot of people like me would consider moving theirs, because it's taking up the space of 20 games. Perhaps there's some long term investment value, I haven't fully paid attention to where prices go. All I know is all of these types of CEs from big name series' like Assassin's Creed, Batman and such, even after huge hype and having trouble meeting demand, drop in value like rocks.

 
My Black Armour Edition shipped from FS, stil waiting on CE from Amazon or Best Buy. BB is out of stock and Amazon expected delivery date is March 19.

GameFAQs always has people complaining about Gamestop. I usually take most complaints on there with a grain of salt.

Also, Futureshop and Best Buy usually always sell out most of their CEs.

You know what, I've gone and changed my mind/opinion. You ordered it from FS, so if it looks like anything I suggested will happen you can easily return it in a month (or whatever their return policy is). So if you don't mind floating the cost of keeping it you can just wait and see. If I didn't order off Amazon maybe I would've done that :lol:

 
I took a chance and placed an order yesterday for the Black Armour Edition, which seems way too late, but Future Shop accepted it anyway. Now it's listed as sold out (it was listed as backordered when I got it), but does anyone who's familiar with Future Shop's policies or CE ordering habits know if there's any chance I might still get it?

 
So if anyone in MONTREAL wants a brand new Dark Souls 2 Collector's Edition for 140$, let me know ASAP.

Otherwise I'll return it to Future Shop by the end of the month.
