Best Buy Upgrade & Save - Now With 100% More Wikification!!

How does it work?
Trade in ANY DVD (except for porn, you weirdos) and get a $5 off coupon towards any Blu-Ray priced $9.99 or above.
Yes, ANY DVD - this includes things you bought at the Dollar Store, individual discs from compilations or TV shows, and ex-rentals from Blockbuster (RIP).
Cases and artwork aren't required, but it definitely increases the acceptance rate if you're bringing in disc four of Sanford & Son's third season.

Wait, that's it? There has to be more to it, right?
Well, not really. It's pretty simple.
Step 1. Trade in DVD's for $5 off coupons.
Step 2. ???
Step 3. Profit!

The usual FAQ/tips/etc.
Coupons are 1:1 - for each DVD traded, one coupon is given.
Coupons don't have to be used at time of trade in.
Coupons do not stack with each other. No combining U&S coupons for $40 off of the Star Wars box set.
Coupons MAY stack with price matches, manufacturer coupons, and current Best Buy promos. YMMV, ya know?
Discounts are taken from the selling price of the Blu-Ray $9.99 or higher. $9.99 becomes $4.99, $12.99 becomes $7.99, and so on. $4.99 Blu-Rays are still $4.99 though.
Coupons are B&M only - must be redeemed in-store.

Since this is a wiki post now, feel free to add in suggested titles (I prefer those $9.99 gems or sale items that become $4.99 after coupon, but to each their own) down below.

For a pretty comprehensive list, go here -> WV Matsui to the rescue! You should all give him a dollar.
BTW, Best Buy is currently having an online sale on various TV shows, many of them U&S sale titles. Buy 2, get 25% off (which is the same as two coupons) and Buy 3 and get 35% off, which essentially gets you one of the titles for free.
Terrible sale. Boardwalk Empire for is listed there for like $70, lol.

It's got good prices on Fringe and Vampire Diaries... but that's it.
Hmm...do you guys think Seasons 1-3 of Fringe for $38.97 before tax is a good deal? I liked the pilot episode but wasn't sure about continuing the series. :whistle2:k

Specifically (please don't start anything over this), I'm concerned about the level of...implied sexual content. I didn't enjoy both the pilot and following episode opening with a scene in a hotel room--the pilot with obvious sexual overtones and the other episode with an anticipation of such activity. It's seriously a moral issue for me if a show consistently depicts stuff like this, so if that sort of thing happens often, maybe I shouldn't invest in Fringe. Can anyone clear this up?
That's certainly an interesting issue for someone with the tag "I CAN FIST" but anyway [edit: oh, CAST, I read it wrong], I think it was a pretty good sci-fi show, if not slightly boring at times. It definitely picked up at the end of the first season. You're going to get minor sexual undertones in most shows these days.

I thoroughly enjoyed Fringe. It is an excellent sci-fi show with very strong actors occupying the lead roles. Some seasons are definitely better than others, and some episodes were definitely misses, but I recommend it overall.

However, as has been mentioned, pretty much any primetime show on television is going to have, at the very least, implied sexual content (if not much more than "implied"), and Fringe is no exception. It's certainly not the focus of the show, nor is it important to the plot of most story lines, but it's there sometimes.
Also, don't think too much about the actual science or plot holes.
Definitely this.

Just go along for the ride and enjoy how awesome John Noble is.
So can u pm and use the coupon on a movie
Typically not. They consider it double dipping.

Stopped by a different BB when running other errands last night and traded the other two.

Got Donnie Brasco for $4.99 after coupon, and Hugo 3D for $9.99 after coupon.

Had to argue a bit on Hugo as it was ringing up at $34.99 instead of $14.99. Apparently there are two skus (looks like one has a digital copy and one doesn't--which is what I got) and they have it in the system under different skus.

That should have me done with Upgrade and Save deals as I'm pretty happy with the DVD collection I have now and don't think there's anything else I want to ditch or upgrade to Blu.

I do need to buy Gladiator on Blu at some point as I traded that in yesterday but couldn't find it on Blu at either store.

I think the only way I've seen Gladiator Blu is in the double or triple pack with Troy and maybe another movie.

Looking at next week's ad, I am probably done with this promo. I do see that you will be able to snag Horrible Bosses for $5 after coupon. That movie is hilarious and a steal at that price.

I stopped into best buy today and saw all the Star Trek blu-ray titles available on an end-cap. Their website, and Amazon, both listed some of those back catalog titles as releasing today, so if you couldn't find them Sunday or Monday at your local store, you may want to try again today.

Also got a copy of Serenity for $9.99 ($4.99 after coupon) that includes the $8 movie cash code.
I think the only way I've seen Gladiator Blu is in the double or triple pack with Troy and maybe another movie.
Yeah, it seems like Best Buy stops carrying stand alone editions of some titles if they're in a double or triple pack.

I saw Amazon has a steel book release of Gladiator releasing on May 7th for $19.99 so I just went ahead and pre-ordered that. Assume that would be a sure way to get the corrected disc and not have to exchange for a fixed version as well.

Link to next week's ad?
Link to next week's ad?
Probably this: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=219351

I really wish I didn't have to be a member just to look at the images... :bomb:

Highlights: Jack Reacher (BR+DVD+DC w/ exclusive 20-minute featurette) for $14.99 after U&S
Superman: Unbound (BR+DVD+DC w/ Exclusive Figurine) for $14.99 after U&S; standard BR+DVD+DC combo pack for $9.99 after U&S

Also, wasn't there supposed to be a steelbook or something for Jack Reacher? I'll gladly put down $14.99 AC for it, but I thought there was a reason there are two Blu-ray results when you search for it on BBY.com...?

Some Targets had it on clearance a couple months ago. I saw it at one of mine but passed it up...

Tried doing a price match of TNG season 3 and Best of Both Worlds, but they would not do a PM of the package deal, nor apply a coupon to TNG (I expected both of these)

Went on my merry way with a PM'd copy of TNG, though. Now I have two copies to use on... something.

Man, all I want is Warrior and Sandlot for $5, but 1.) I don't have any DVDs to trade-in and 2.) the closest BB is about 80 miles away.

Why? The best is yet to come in steelbooks!
Why? The best is yet to come in steelbooks!
- Which steelbooks are you referring to?
I'll list of the WB steelbooks coming out May 7th here: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=217491
- Tempting, but unless they are $9.99, they would be an expensive double dip for me on a lot of those titles. No matter what, Gladiator better be the remastered version. Otherwise, the Gladiator/Troy combo would be a decent choice.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Porkys and WWE WrestleMania XXVI for a total of $21.17 after U&S and $5 Reward certificate. they had an endcap of WWE blus for $9.99. Roger Rabbit was $19.99 and Porkys was $12.99 before the U&S and certificate. Some other things ill wait for, like the recent Disney releases that were $29.99

Trip 1 (lunch) - Life is Pi 3D (Best Buy Exclusive version) - $24.99 :(
- Attempted trade/save but the store I went to denied the use of it since I didn't do the trade that day. There store required some receipt attached to it. I still bought it with the manufactured coupon. Note this store is the only one in my area with the exclusive version. I figure I can get this adjusted in a week or so.

At work, I redeemed the exclusive $10 e-giftcard for Pi (that came in that version of the movie) on a Best Buy giftcard.

Trip 2 (after work) - Silver Linings Playbook - $3.44 :D
- I used the $8 off manufacture coupon from Life is Pi and a trade/save coupon. I went to have use the giftcard from my cell phone and she was unable to do it. After I jimmy their kiosk, I finally was able to get to the coupon via google. Printed it. Rebrought it up and out I went with my copy.

Essentially $30 for Life is Pi and SLP.

I think you were had. I've never had that issue with the U&S coupons. Whenever I am given multiple U&S coupons (as opposed to one coupon with the receipt and how many it's good for), I've been able to use the coupons at any best buy. Last week, I traded in 4 dvds and only used 2 at that store. I went to another store the next day and used the other 2, no questions asked.
Technically, all U&S purchases require the receipt.
That's not true. You are not given a receipt when you check to see if you are eligible for a phone upgrade and given one of the coupons.

traded an old $1 thumbelina and myscene DVD and grabbed

IronMan Bluray 4.99
IronMan2 Bluray 4.99

great deal needed to rewatch before I see 3.

I've never been given a receipt, nor had the cashier ask for one--and I probably traded in 30 some DVDs over the past several of these promos. Guess that stuff just varies by store.

Hell, my store ran out and had to give out photo copied U&S coupons once, and I was able to bring one back the following week and use it with no questions.

Whether it is used is YMMV, but the way they are supposed to do it is ring up however many DVDs you are trading in, print out a receipt, and staple the coupons to the receipt. When ringing up, the cashier is supposed to check for the receipt, take however many coupons are used, then mark off the receipt.

If you do not find the Blu-rays you want, make sure to get a receipt.

It is alot easier to just leave your crap dvds in the car, get your blus, have cs hold them a minute while you get your dvds, then do the transactions. No worries of mistakes.

did u get iron man FOR $4.99? MEaning it was $9.99 and u used the $5? Or does this $5 coupon, in fact, work with $5 blu rays? I wish i did this the other day when I bought hotel transylvania blu ray. I got a handful of garbage i dont need. Then again, not much i need right now and if the coupon is only good until 5/11 i dunno. Kind of bought most of what i need. i must look into this further

I already have seasons 1-4 of Fringe on DVD. I want to buy season 5, however, the price for the DVD and Blu-Ray (after coupon) will be the same. I feel like it's stupid to buy a DVD at the same price as a Blu-Ray, but I also feel like it would be dumb to have only the fifth season on Blu Ray. What should I do?

Or just wait until it goes on sale. Season 5 just came out, right?

Also, Iron Man 2 is $9.99, but only the single-disc edition. The 2-disc edition is regular price.

It was $9.99 and he used the $5 off. The U&S $5 off doesn't work on anything lower than $9.99.

What do you guys think, am I going to find Roger Rabbit cheaper than $15 in the near future? It's probably the only thing I'll go for given the look of next week's sales. I wish the sale went until the 14th for the releases that day.

Doubt it. Considering it is a Disney/Touchstone picture it'll probably go up.

Disney movies are notorious for going up and staying there.

Eww, looks like it's $25 right now.

Personally, I wouldn't spend that much for it unless it was a 3D remake. I know it's a classic from my childhood, but, for some reason, I couldn't see myself paying more than $10 for it.

I think I have it on VHS.:whistle2:#

Edit: I DO have it on VHS, lol!

I got some decent stuff. BB wouldnt let me price match evil dead 2 from amazon ($9.99) AND do the $5 coupon so it cost me about $8 since it was $13 at BB. Sadly no evil dead or army of darkness and they ARE $9.99 but I assume other people grabbed those. They also said the no longer carry it which sucks so if its gone it wont be back. I picked up:

- Hotel Transylvania blu ray combo ($14.99 after coupon)
- Inception ($9.99 after coupon)
- Fantastic Four 1&2 ($6.99 after coupon)
- Evil Dead 2 25th Anniversary ($7.99 after coupon)

I'm gonna go back and get some more stuff soon but I had to check me and my girlfriends DVDs to get rid of the garbage. I traded in SNL best of christopher walken, A Mudvayne live DVD, a SLayer live DVD, and a chinese Multi Region copy of Riddick I got from ebay years ago but it wasnt what I was supposed to get. lol GLad to be rid of it, I couldnt even sell it for $1 so I kept it until now. Good times

Don't know if you have a 3D player but, Hotel Transylvania 3d is also $19.99($14.99 after coupon) It includes 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Ultraviolet copy.
