[dead] HP IPOD $69.50 Clearance at Staples (YMMV)

I work at staples and just to let everyone know they have dropped the price on the 40gig HP Ipod to 69.50. This is a clearence item and is extremely YMMV, but I thought I'd let everyone know. This Ipod comes with the dock, ac adaptor and software.

Yep/ Thats probably what happened to almost all of them. There is no way the employees would snag them all up.

i called up 11 staples in my area (94580 area code) near san francisco and what not..but they either don't have it..or they're like $400+
 
Yeah, we really, really need a sku. Then I can pop over next door and see if any staples in the tri-state area have them.

And don't call. That tips off employees. Physically go and check!

Again we really need an SKU!

And don't foprget the 12% off appreciation coupon. That would bring it down to $62

BTW, kinda off topic but what are some good headphones that provide good bass that aren't too big? The headphones that comes with the iPods provides little to crappy bass.

I think this deal was pretty much DOA. If you were a Staples employee, congratulations. If you weren't, don't waste the gas or the cell phone minutes.

Have to agree with shipwreck on this one. Some very lucky people *might* just luck out on this, but chances are slim to none.

I've called thru to about 10 Staples ranging most of the way across New England, and no dice. Online availability only. Even took a chance and called home to Montana, same deal out there.

So yep, cheers to those that got in on this, and if someone ends up with a spare that they want to sell for good $, let me know.

For now I'll just have to live with my superior, but woefully full, iRiver.
 
Why are you people calling them and asking for the price?

Call up, only if you have to, and ask if they have it in stock. If they do, go check it out. If not, don't go asking for the price and what not. That is a sure enough way to kill the deal.

Like they are going to tell you the last one is priced for that low and ITS there...

On top off that I bet at least 25% didnt even check..

no go at mine. only 60 gig available. nothing smaller.

i just called to inquire about hp ipods and which drive sizes they carry. didn't say anything about the prices.
 
To the people who said: "Send me one and I will pay for it plus a little extra"- You guys are insane if you think anyone would give you one for cost plus a small mark-up when they could easily sell it for hundreds of dollars on ebay or elsewhere. The deal is dead, get over it.

So I go to my local Staples and ask one of the guys working about clearenced Ipods and he was like " we sold the last one today." then we talked a bit more and he said "well, I actually bought it." As soon as he told me I started grinded my teeth. I was like, You fucking weasel. Anyways, if you guys would have seen this guy you would have punched his lights out. Thats what I wanted to do.

The person that was on the phone with me at Staples I wanted to punch in the face. Called them up and was like:

Me: Ya'll got any clearanced iPods?
Guy: We don't sell iPods

Which Staples was this one?

Anyways, i checked the nearest 6 and only 2 stores carried the 60gb ones for $399.
