DEAD RISING KILLED MY son's 360!!

CAGiversary!
ok here's the deal, I have 2 360's. one my son's & the other's mine, we have had them since launch (and by the way, NO. I'm not rich, but I'm well connected & I saved) & both systems have been working fine since. now check this out, we have been playing the same disc ( Dead Rising ) on both our system's, since day one & we love the game!. but last night my son had the disc in & truned on his 360 & BANG! 3 Red Light's of DEATH! ironically it truned his system in to a ZOMBIE! I was able to get a hold of someone over at Microsoft, & they are sending a box to ship the system over, the microsoft asscociate advised me, "the rumors are true " & that the publisher & microsoft where aware of it & they are working on a update. she also told me not to use the game again in till I see on xbox.com that an update has been issued. she was very helpful. but , now I'm worried & I'm keeping a very close eye on my system. so just wanted to inform my fellow CAG'S! beware ! I'm seriously considering going & trading ( Dead Rising ) in to EB tomorrow.

You should trade it in, Dead Rising sucks. Not worth risking your 360 over. At least they will repair your son's 360 for free.

Hmm... I enjoyed it, and it didn't zombify my 360 either.

I have quite a love hate relationship with it. I love the gameplay. But trying to actually complete all the chapters frustrates the holy shit out of me.

Same. I hate escort missions.

At first I really liked Dead Rising, but the more I play it the more I realize all the little things that bugged me about it are huge design flaws. The game should have played more like the demo. There's too many odd restrictions, much like FFTA, but x1,000.

What keeps you from playing it just like you did the demo? You don't have to follow the mission lines, or much of anything else, if you don't want to.

That is true, and that is the single reason I am not more public about my frustration with it. Because I know it's my own fault for wanting to be at x to do y before the time runs out and my whole storyline is effed.

I wish I could make myself not care about the story and just 'have fun' with the sandbox, but I can't. It makes me feel like a failure and I have to start over when I botch the storyline.

Yea well pac-man touched me in inappropiatly.

I would say Dead rising was more of the straw that broke the camels back. It was just a matter of time.
Two questions:

1. How old is your son?
2. Why did you spell turned wrong twice?
1. he's 15
2. blame it on spell check..sorry Teacher

Amazingly, I've never once heard these "rumors" about the game destroying people's 360's, or that Capcom was working on an update to fix this problem that I've never heard of until now.

MS reps are full of shit, I wouldn't trust what any of them on the phone say.

Saints Row also freezes people's 360's... maybe an MS rep can confirm the rumors about that one are true too. It has nothing to do with the game, any game could have done that to your 360.

I can't wait for a follow up thread where Saints Row broke the other 360.

I've heard about this before this. Something that its overclocking/overheating the 360's processor's or some shit.

This is the first time I've heard about this... it must be extremely rare cases as I've known tons of people who invested alot of time into the game and their 360's are fine.

Hell, Saints Row gave my friends more problems than Dead Rising ever did.

My 360 broke when when I was playing Dead Rising and Saint's Row. I did the heat gun fix and now it works fine. I'm in the process of selling Dead Rising right now since I don't want to take anymore chances.

I also got very frustrated about the gameplay. Escort missions where the people don't know how to do anything. Also terrible story. It was fun for the first maybe 5 hours though.

Dead Rising almost killed my eyes, as I can't read point -12 junior-sized fuckin' font.

Which, in turn, Dead Rising killed my will to play Dead Rising.

Yep, that also.

I find it odd that one game killed your sons system. I bought my 360 july 27th and it broke on me on aug 16th. All of my games were bought new and I take extremelly good care of my stuff. anyway I sent it in to microsoft and they sent me a refurb. After 5 days back and less then 10 hours of play on Madden 07 and Amped 3, It also broke. I doubt its the games in general. Yet the piece of shit quality of Microsofts systems. I dont care how much a game pushes a systems processor, it shouldnt cause a system to break.

Yeah same here. I already knew about the problem but I didn't think it was that bad. I ended up going to trade it in at EB for $35 plus 30% extra trade in credit since I pre-ordered Gears of War for a total of $45.

Hopefully they will release a revised version of Dead Rising with a bigger font.

It's true that the MS reps will shift blame of the 360 breaking to other things like the game or the intercooler, so I'd take this whole accusation with a grain of salt..............................

I stayed clear of Dead Rising because the demo was pretty much the game.
so that means i sohuld pass on buying Dead Rising?? not worth it??
It's a good game. Just don't pay a lot of attention to the story the first time through.

I haven't read about Dead Rising overclocking any processors, but IIRC I read that Dead Rising was the first 360 title to use more than one processor in a substantial way.

I have a feeling the MS rep is just pissing around with the facts to make conversation. The way the internet hawks swoop in on bad news like overheating issues in the 360 and lack of player fatigue in Madden, if the rumors about Dead Rising killing processors were true the blogs would have been all over it by now. They'd have needless post and update fodder for months to come.
I'll take a copy of Dead Rising off of anyone's hands, if you want me to.
Sorry, took it in to EB, got Saints Row.
