Dead Rising (Xbox 360) $15 at Amazon
Yeah I assumed Amazon would match the Circuit City offer and I bought it with my free 1 month trial of Amazon Prime. However I have no idea what this PH business is. Anyone like to inform me?
Platinum Hits.
Hmm...is it the PH or the non-PH edition? The picture shows non-PH...anyone know?
It's definitely the PH version. I bought it on Amazon when it dropped to $20 last month. I e-mailed for a post-order price guarantee, but if the price keeps changing, I don't know if I'll get it.

Personally, I don't like it. I played it for about 4 hours the first 2 days I got it, and I haven't touched it since. I can read the text just fine on an SDTV, but I have component cables hooked up so it's at 480p. (It made a huge difference in Mass Effect, which is the only game I played at 480i & p.)
I just bought it also less than 20 mins ago. Just logged on here cause I remember Circuity City having it for $9.99 a while ago. Or maybe it was somewhere else or maybe I made it up? I can't seem to find any record of it ever being $9.99 at any common store and I'm not counting TRU since I haven't even heard of that store.
TRU = ToysR'US ;-)
TRU = ToysR'US ;-)
Aight I guess I do know Toys R 'Us however is this TRU abbreviation a standard term? Never heard it called that before.

Don't feel too bad about it, I didn't what that abbreviation was either until after I got on this site...

UPDATE:

Amazon put the price back up to $19.99 on Dead Rising before I got a chance to get it... (ugh)
But if you do choose the $14.99 price drop and the free shipping, it "Usually ships in 3-4 weeks" which not even worth it.

Also, GRAW2 is also up to $29.99, but "Usually ships in 2-4 weeks" if you choose the $14.99 price drop with the free shipping...

dead rising is one of my favorite 360 games. period. buy it for $20 if you have to.

GRAW2 was a decent but short single player game. Worth this price or a rental if you can dedicate a weekend to it. I wonder if people are playing the multiplayer still.

I feel obligated to post in this topic. Dead Rising is still one of the best games of this generation. It isn't for everybody, but if you enjoy the subject matter and if you take the time to understand the mechanics, you'll really enjoy yourself.
Pick it up at GS, $17.99 used, and there is a very good chance you may be able to pick up a non-PH. (I did this today!!)
Use the 20% off coupon from cellfire (see another thread here about this) and it comes to under 15.

Ordered, I had this when it first came out & beat it, but I traded it off. I loved the game and wouldn't mind playing through it again.

Also, I'd rather have a PH game than one of the molested disks my local GS is pushing used.

its nice to see this many ppl who liked this game...i freaking loved it, but most of my 360 friends don't...

it's definately not a game you can just jump back into, if you don't play it for a few months and your towards the end where it gets really hard, you will get owned. Not having multiple save slots really ruin the replay value. Then again I got this used in great condition for $12 at gamestop with coupons/edge. I would suggest if you haven't played it for a long time.... just start over...

Yeah, that's kind of the reason why I'm thinking about not re-buying it...I'm too far into it to start over!

It's $15 if you click on the "Amazon.com - Add to Cart" button on the right side of the screen under "More Buying Choices", but $20 if you just click the normal large "Add to Shopping Cart" button. Apparently its $20 because Amazon sold out and they're shipping from Target. But if you're willing to wait 3-4 weeks you get it for $15!

That's what I did. Combined with a book I need for school for free shipping and voila :)

This is a decent price on the game but im one of those people that hates waiting for something to come in the mail weeks after I purchased it also I dont want to pick this up now and have it sit until I finally get a HDTV because I purchased it new when it first came out and on a SDTV the text and watch were almost impossible to make out for me.
why does everyone care if its PH? is it different?
the same reason people like older mustangs then the new models lol
has nothing to do with the actual game.... just the art work
why does everyone care if its PH? is it different?
Some OCD people, such as myself, like the game shelf to look uniform and the different color cases and spines throw off the flow ;)

That said, I still ordered both. I felt as though I had to, it helps you get over the OCD...Yeah, that's the reason I ordered both...

For those wondering about the PH cover, I got my GRAW 2 from Amazon yesterday and it was indeed the Platinum Hits variety. Not a big deal to me, especially considering it was $14.99 shipped (

I went to my local CC and they did not have a copy.(I hate CC and how they have their games organized btw) I grabbed their Sunday ad and took it to BB for price matching. Got it. I didn't have another game or purchase in mind at Amazon so I could qualify for free shipping. Good deal.

Yeah my ordered shipped today at 6 pm EST. I'm loving this free month trial of Amazon Prime. The 2 day shipping for free is legit.

Definitely man I've played it a hand full of times at my friends' house and I can easily play it for hours on end without even attempting any of the missions. Just killing zombies for hours. To me its got that same GTA appeal. Even tho GTA4 was the first one I actually beat. That DLC needs to come out already.

Managed to PM the CC ad to Microcenter last night. PH cover as well...

Question: Have they fixed the issues with thsi game regarding RROD as well as the saving checkpoints?

Wow despite it being "out of stock" and "won't ship for 3-4 weeks" I just got my copy of Dead Rising today, out of nowhere. I guess it helps that I live in Philadelphia where one of their shipping facilities is and they used a courier service for same day delivery. So big fat KUDOS to Amazon for that.

Price is back up to $19 now so I'm glad I got in on this one :)

I've played this for a couple of hours so far and have to say I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought.

For one the text is absolutely horrid on this game. I swear I need a magnifying glass whenever a set of text pops up.

The whole "story objectives" and side objectives are confusing, not to mention the layout of the mall. obviously playing it more will make me become familiar with the layout, but still, it's pretty intimidating.

Also A.I. for escorts is pretty crummy at times, not to mention the controls (switching from weapons/health items).

I agree, and unless I'm doing something wrong, the saving is atrocious. I played for close to an hour and then died, and lost all of my progress because I could not find a save point.

Still well worth $15 just to crush zombies with lawnmowers and guitars.

Aye I forgot about saving.

Does anyone know if you unlock a new mode after beating the first 72 hour campaign? I am hoping there is an "unlimited time" mode so I can waste hours on end killing zombies.

The amazingly retarded save system is the reason I've fired the game up only twice despite owning it for almost 3 months.

Strangely I'm reluctant to play a game that involves mincing about running halfway across the game world to save every 2 minutes. :x

You just have to try and plan out your missions. Bring plenty of health items, know where to get more if you need them.
