I'm upgrading my thrift store home audio equipment and just picked up a Sony DG710 6.1 receiver from J&R. Nothing big but decent entry level, which is what I want right now. I need a powered sub to go with it but I don't want to spend more than $100. Any ideas? I'm totally clueless when it comes to home audio, so any help would be appreciated.

Damn, you missed a great deal on BF. BestBuy had a 12" 200 watt Sony subwoofer for $100, which normally retailed for $300 I think.:whistle2:(

Mine just came yesterday and Im very pleased with it.[/QUOTE]

Thanks! That looks great and the AVS guys says it's good, so I think I'm going to get it.

Stupid question though....how do I hook it up? My receiver has 1 sub output but the back pic of that Dayton has a bunch of different inputs & outputs:

I can only second the Dayton SUB100 powered subwoofer, it is SUPER Powerful , you won't find better in the 100 dollar department. my father has a pretty crazy home theater setup, he spent about 5,000 on the speakers alone and this sub blows his out of the water. you will NOT be disappointed in the SUB-100.

to answer your question, i have mine hooked up via a coax sub output from my receiver. (looks like a standard RCA cable, but made for bass) the other options on the back just give you flexability to hook it up to older receivers that may only have a line level (speaker wire) output to subwoofer.

Just plug a digital coaxial or rca (composite) from the reciever and plug either rca connection on the subwoofers end, it doesn't matter which one.

Thanks for the help! Just ordered that Dayton and 25' of sub cable from Monoprice.

Didn't think I'd actually get a decent sub for $100 but this one sounds great after reading up on it. Can't wait 'till it gets here.
