Disabling avatar pics and signatures?

Maybe I missed it but how can I disable the avatar pics and signatures? I don't care to see them and just want a nice simple sleek forum.

 
You can't ignore avatars, but you can ignore signatures by hovering on the top right of any signature and clicking on the "x" that appears, then choosing "ignore all signatures." You can also click on your name, go to "Manage Ignore Prefs" and check the box "ignore all signatures" and that does exactly the same thing.

I couldn't see any way to ignore avatars, otherwise I would've already done it. ;)

Is there a way to set it so that I don't post with my signature by default? I couldn't find a setting for that. I would prefer the default to be no sig, and have the option to add it on a per-post basis.
