Does Amazon know how to cancel promo credit?

I accidentally preordered a game that Amazon said would give me a $10 vg promo credit once shipped, but instead applied immediately to my next order. Great, right? Except I canceled that order and rebought the game two days later when it showed up on my Quick Picks (I was trying to get it into my QP in the first place), so technically I shouldn't have received any promo credit at all.

Will Amazon adjust it automatically by removing the credit from my new order? If not, will anything bad happen if I don't inform them myself?

Amazon has pretty good customer support, I'd try to contact them with your question.
