DVD Player Question-No Sound-Cable, Player, or maybe something else?

Watched a dvd last night and everything was fine. Today I tryed watching one and nothing. Its a monoprice hdmi cable coming out of a zenith up conversion dvd player. I tryed unpluggint the dvd player and got nothing. Could it be the cable? I tryed hooking the av cables and they worked fine. What do you guys think?

It is very possible that it is the HDMI cable, I know recently my 360 Component cables just died on me and it gave the same thing symptoms that my 360 gave.

shoot, it ended up being the dvd player. craptacular. whats worse, I bough this last black friday and now the warranty has expired last week.
