eBay Daily Deal - DualShock 3 (Black) - $36.99 from Buy

Hm, I've needed more controllers since I bought my ps3 a year ago, is this price good enough to buy one (or three) or do they ever drop lower, in which case I'll wait.

They can drop as low as $30. But if you really need one, this is a great price. I don't think you should get three at this price... unless you really need three. You're better off waiting for a better deal to get the extra two.
