Email notify off for subscriptions?

My in box gets flooded with emails for subscriptions to threads. Any way to turn this feature off? I dont see it in user cp.

User Control Panel, Edit Options

"Default Thread Subscription Mode"

You should see it in there, select the dropdown menu and select "no email"
