Seeing how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (releases 11/10/09) seems to be the most hyped game of the year, if not the decade, I decide to throw all the deals for it together in one big thread. I included all the major retailers and websites, along with a few oddball sites that had some pretty good prices. Good luck getting this game cheaper than this, CAGs!

NOTES:

The best deal on the game comes with the LE console. I just bought my third system, and it's a bargain for what you get, especially with the much larger HDD. I do want the Prestige edition, but I guess I'll pick it up after I finish my bundle copy and sell it. :)
 
Hardened included High Def version of the original Call of Duty for the consoles. The game has been out for years for PC users. I don't see an added value to PC users. Activision probably saw the same.

Bestsku has reliable service from what I can tell. I guess because they actually charge for shipping unlike Buynextgen.com. I got MUA2 in 4 days when I ordered from them.
 
Deep Discount is Sold out, Amazon Sold out, Buy.com Sold out and Newegg only allows you to order 1 every 48 hours. Walmart still has some. But I would think both of those will sell out within a couple days.

Also Newegg is 160 shipped because of the tax

so is ECA really dead? at least I got a bunch of pre-orders in at the stacked price. I don't feel bad, I was a $15 payer =P.. Got this game for $42 shipped, not bad I guess.
 
Well I went back to BB and got them to price match TRU's $20 off and then on top of it they agreed to the $10 RZ gift card! Basically $30 for possibly one of the greatest games...

If they don't honor that, then just buy another copy of the game with the coupon and return it on the other receipt.
 
My Amazon order still hasn't shipped...still not even the processing stage. I'm tempted to just go and pick it up from best buy and walmart and return the Amazon copy whenever it finally arrives....no problems doing this right?

i was thinking the same thing, frys has it for $50 right now, but i'm resisting because there is a kinda a problem pulling crap like this that makes businesses change their policies and then be tighter on the returns. which in turn screws us all. i feel you pain though, i'm waiting for my amazon as well. it's clear after odst and mw2 they don't ship their free super saver shipping before the release day anymore. i got gears2 a day before the release using fsss. looks like with amazon you now have to pay for shipping if you want it even close to the release day, because they are delaying the cheapskates' packages. even with shipping costs, they are probably cheaper, so just add it to the cost. i know a couple people have been lucky and gotten the fsss as a rdd, but most haven't. for the record, i preordered mw2 in early july, so it's not a first come first served deal.

Is there any deal at Best Buy still ongoing for the XBOX 360 version? I'll be at Best Buy this weekend and I'm wondering if I can get a discount or something.
 
Since amazon added back the 20.00 credit for modern warfare 2 do you think i would get the credit if i bought it for pc even if i already received one for preordering the 360 version? it is technically a different promotion right since one was for preorders and then there is this new one?
 
Just wanted to point out to everyone that the PC version of MW2 is tied to Steam.

This means that you can't sell the game, once you register it with Steam (which you have to do to be able to play).

So in reality, the PC version is more expensive than the console versions, as you can't sell it to recoup some of the purchase price.

When you combine this with the castration of the PC version (no dedicated servers, no mods, no leaning), it becomes an insult to PC gamers.

If you are only interested in single player campaign, just rent the game for 360 or PS3, if you have one.
 
fuck I am so weak. I didn't really care for Modern Warfare 1's campaign at all and I just bought this game for the hype. I hope the multiplayer is awesome.
 
Can anyone confirm the amazon coupon, its $20 limited to only other video game sales and it expires in january

so basically either way you're spending more money on amazon...though if you buy another new game, $100 for 2 isnt that bad

Or you could buy a 20 dollar game and it would be free. Or you could wait for Amazon to probably price match most stores black friday ads and you could get some more recent titles for 20 bucks after using the coupon.

Hmm.. I actually just bought it because it was so cheap and its like a guaranteed $15-$20 profit if I end up not liking it (resell on ebay)..
