Exclusive GTAIV content on PS3!
by Justin Pinter

Earlier today, a member from Rockstar North talked to Eurogamer.com about Microsoft not being the only one getting exclusive content for GTA IV. The PS3 is to receive its own special downloads in the form of brand new areas which add-on to the main GTAIV game world; sort of like an expansion pack.

"Think of the world as a large island - the new downloadable areas will be like smaller islands linking into it," the source stated.

It has yet to be confirmed how many downloads will be available but it does seem that this type of exclusive content would be better than just episodic content the Xbox 360 is getting; new islands (probably new missions as well) vs. episodic content (meaning probably just new missions).

Grand Theft Auto IV is set to release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the U.S. on Oct. 16th. 2007, and on the 19th. in Europe.

Very smart for Rockstar, since the hardcore GTA fans will have to buy 2 versions of the game to get all of the content.

Nothing confirmed at all. Still just rumors. And if this game were being made by EA, this thread would be filled with people bitching over EA milking them by making them buy 2 versions of the game for all the content.

I like how he says "OH PS3 content would be better" but than all he has his own vague guesses and fanboy bias towards all the content, when we have no info at all on what is in the episodic content other than it's coming.

You mean like NCAA versions of their pro league counterparts?

YOU KNEW I WAS GOING TO SAY IT, fuckER.

And 2 next gen systems. And a Live subscription. And the lube.

Very smart, but also very annoying and kind of cruel to their customers. This is the kind of stunt that turns customers away--not win new ones.

And then you'd come in and pull a weak excuse out of your ass in order to defend them. Of course, EA has nothing to do with this, so there's no need for you to care. Run along now.

You'd have to be pretty hard core to not only buy two versions of the game, but to also play through them both (since presumably there would be no way to transfer your progress from one version to another). And I thought it was bad when Soul Calibur 2 had different characters depending on the platform...

I like this news... but since our blue ray discs are 50gb I'd like to see there be more Game content, thus filling up the space with more towns, missions, vehicles, etc.

All the content available on the 360 and PS3 will eventually show up on the other console, with a rerelease with all the content a year after the original release likely.
So how do we not know that this content might show up on the 360 as well?

Remember when Oblivion's PS3 content was exclusive?
Wait, it's not anymore?
