AFAIK, the bonus disc is like the Knights of the Nine/Shivering Isles disc for Oblivion. At least, that's how the standalone double-packs are; just insert the disc, press install, and it's playable, no activation code, and I'd wager that it's not tied to a gamertag either, since you're not d/ling it from MS (however, I'm not 100% on that point). That's how I got Broken Steel/Point Lookout, and why I'm looking for the GOTY edition from a friend, since that's the only disc that contains Mothership Zeta.
