Finally, AIDS in a laboratory.

When do we get0 AIDS in an easy squeezy can version?

/thinks for a second

Actually I think that's exactly what we have right now.

Sorry, but this tidbit in the article was much more interesting, and should be considered the "real story". And they say fascism is dead ...

a separate legal matter involving Pfizer states that the Department of Justice considered Pfizer to be "too big to nail" in an investigation of the company's illegal marketing of the painkiller drug Bextra.
CNN reports that, if Pfizer had been prosecuted over the drug, the company would have been excluded from doing business with Medicaid and Medicare. But because federal officials considered the company too big to be exempted from working with the government health programs, a dummy corporation -- Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc. -- was set up, and that dummy corporation then pleaded guilty to the crime.

That's what happens when a private company makes drugs that millions of people depend on. They control the drugs, they control the people basically.

Or the conservative view: Medicare/medicaid should be dissolved so that the company doesn't deal with the government.

Yeah it's a better idea to either put a cap on profits drug company's can make off of drugs 'people depend on' or just outright subsidize the cost of most drugs through tax payer money.

Because that's what regulation is - limiting the profit a company can make. We've got people dying on all sorts of prescribed medications because no one really knows what they'll do when used in various combinations, but oh man - profit limitations!

Must be great to win every argument in the world with The Boogie Man.

Or the personal responsibility view: don't overeat, don't smoke, don't drink in excess, adjust the way you respond to stressful situations in life, and get good exercise and chances are you won't have to depend on any fancy drugs.

I do realize that as people age, the body will eventually break down and this becomes harder, but there are plenty of generics out there that work just as well or better than the brand name drugs (e.g., for high cholesterol, you can use simvastatin or even niacin, both of which are quite cheap and effective - recent studies have shown that niacin is actually more effective than zetia).
