11/15 Edit: Amazon.com, Buy.com, and Agetec.com are shipping out orders.

11/12 Edit: We have a new lowest price after coupon or without coupon (thanks CAG IAmTheCheapestGamer) :

http://www.familyvideo.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=279351

$10.98 after using coupon code NEWMEM3F (for existing accounts only, and not new members? Still works for me as of 11/14 at 10:30 PM EST)

$13.98 without the coupon code.

There is also some $5 off codes for new members that might not work anymore:

NEWMEM5F
NEWPGMEM
NEWGWMEM

If anyone can confirm that they work, give the heads up.

11/11 Edit: Some notes about the release:

The localization producer from Agetec has stated that November 13th is the *ship date* and most stores will not have it in stock on that exact date, but a couple of days later. I guess that means online orders will ship 2 or 3 days later, as well.

For those looking for it in B&M stores, he also stated:

"Actually, Best Buy is a great place place to buy the title at the CL.
Others good places are Gamestop, Blockbuster, K-mart, Freds, Kaybee Toys, Amazon and of course Agetec’s webstore."

CL = checkout lane.

Edit: Some new screenshots are up at Agetec's site:

Edit: A Localization Producer for Agetec has confirmed the release date as being 11/13 (thanks CAG dopehat):

Latest Edit:

GoGamer.com looks to have the cheapest non-promo/non-coupon related price at $14.13 shipped:

http://www.gogamer.com/Fire-Pro-Wre...VproductId22388627VVcatId444710VVviewprod.htm

Also, most e-tailers are giving this an early November release date of November 6th.

Edit: Agetec has added new box art and has included a video of the game to their website:

I was hesitant to post this here in the deals forum because it looks like the game will MSRP for under $15 and the links provided below really aren't deals off of that price. However, since Victorious Boxers 2 got CAG love in the VG deals forum here, I'd figure I'd spread the news to fellow bargain hunters looking for a good cheap game. Not to mention if this sells well, it helps the cause for future Spike wrestling games to come to North America.

Anyway, it looks like the critically acclaimed Fire Pro Wrestling Returns from the beloved Fire Pro series of wrestling games (Japan based) is being released in North America with a bargain bin price of around $15 and should be out in mid to late November for the PS2. There is already a CAG forum post about the game here (thread started by CAG pete5883):

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146363

The game is up for pre-order here:

http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=205611610&loc=108 $12.99 (Nov 14th) Buy.com sales rank as of 9/9 = 709

http://www.amazon.com/Agetec-Fire-P...39?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1189330779&sr=1-2 $14.99 (Nov 27th) Amazon.com sales rank as of 9/9 = 566

http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7512278&style=games&BAB=M $12.99/12.74 (Nov 14th)

With that price point, buy one for Christmas for everyone you know who has a PS2 or PS3 . :)

Updated the OP with:

EDIT: Gamestop.com has this for $19.99, so the prices below *could* be price mistakes, so order now to ensure the lower price. Then again, Gamestop.com could be in the wrong.

This is a great deal for an awesome game, Thanks OP! I paid something like $40 to import it, its worth 10 bucks to have it in english.

I tried to preorder the game on buy.com using google checkout but I was not allowed to use google checkout. I almost cancelled my preorder on amazon.com good thing I decided to wait.
It's obviously just me, but the game looks like ass. The depth of moves and wrestlers is nice, but the graphics looks like they are 10 years old. It would be REAL nice if they would bring over Wrestle Kingdom for the 360 though. Still, it's always nice to see long running Japanese series FINALLY translated. Gives me hope for games like Far East of Eden Ziria. As for those worried about it selling well, it really depends on who carries it. At $15 it should sell well regardless, but if Wally world and target carry it, I would think it will sell exceptionally well.
The graphics do not look ten years old. I've been playing the actual 10 year old (more like 11) Firepro lately (Firepro S on the Saturn) and Firepro Returns looks considerably better. No games in 1997 had 8 large, well animated sprites fighting at the same time with no slowdown.

I'd like to see Wrestle Kingdom for cheap as well but as far as wrestling games go, it can't hold a candle to Firepro. King of Colosseum is close but falls short in the match options category and in terms of customization.

I absolutely love this series. My wife surprised me and bought me FirePro D for the Dreamcast the first day our local shop got it imported. Set her back a frightful sum, but it's one of those few games I thought was worth every premium penny.

To be able to finally play this game in English and at such a budget price, this just made my day. Thanks for the info OP.

Haven't played a FP game since Fire Prowrestling G.

Looks like I'll be playing another one soon enough.

Thanks!

I just saw the video for this and it looks nuts. Why didn't they come out with this a long time ago for the PS2?

Thanks TC for this find, you just made my day!

as posted many times, yes the graphics look "old-school", but the gameplay is where its heart is.

TRUST ME, it's not a button masher!! you'll lose pretty easily mashin' buttons, but the learning curve is more like wcw/nwo revenge (or no mercy) than wwf warzone (jesus, how'd we play that?!)

Like old N64 wrestling games? And 8 players? Sweet jesus...I think this game just topped Smash Bros. in must have...

I pre-ordered it, as well as the SNK games that are coming out soon too.
I've never played any of the Fire Pro games, but after watching that video of them they look fucking amazing.
Only if I can get my friends to play with me its going to be fucking sick
Could someone explain me how to get the discount from buy.com with Google Checkout?
You just need to add it to your cart, then on the cart page click on the "Proceed to Checkout" link. You'll be able to select the Google Checkout option on that next page. Then you just need to set up your new account to get the discount.

That's how I got mine to work.

Gothca. Thanks.

Considering I paid $60 for the import Dreamcast version, I'm on this deal like zombies on the slow fat victim of the group.

For those of you who are on the fence, enjoy a few videos and then quickly pre-order the game!
This is insane. Does the PS3 allow for downloading PS2 save files for this game?
I could download games on my PC and then transfer the save to my PS3 with a flash drive. I'm not sure if it works the same way for the PS2 saves though..

Most of the saves are in the action replay format. If you buy a action replay maxdrive evo, it comes with a flash drive and all you have to do is put the save on your drive and then plug it into your PS2 and transfer it to your memory card.

If you don't have a PS2, you should ask this question on the PS3 forum. I'm sure you'd get a better response.

This game looks so awesome. I think I'm going to have to pre-order it(something I've NEVER done before) -- because I'm sure this will be impossible to find after it's released.

Yeah especially because it's a budget title. Agetec may be thinking that sales won't be going through the roof, so they may not print a lot of copies. There could be a high demand for the game once it is released so it is better to pre-order now.

Just as an example, I have never seen Victorious Boxers 2 for sale anywhere around me.
Oh my god...

for all intents and purposes, yeah, but in 2D... somehow, though, i get the feeling like i've overhyped this (along w/ others ;))

but the truth is, if you love wrestling- more for the moves than for it's bizarre gimicks (i.e. before wwe became the only game in town), and you can still play such n64 wrestling games today w/ enjoyment, it's a great buy

the depth's pretty much like any wrestling game (save for the fact of create-a-wrestler), but at that price, it's hard not givin' it a shot. least a rental (but it looks like you can buy it for about the same price w/ google checkout, lol)

I agree here with Jericho, this is one of the only times where I suggest people preorder. Because once the release batch is out, I doubt more will be coming.

Fire Pro
KOF XI
and
NGBC, preorder them all hell pay it all off, it's 45 bucks for all 3 games. less than a 360, ps3, or wii game... hell less than some ps2 games.

PS. Jericho, I've always loved your avatar... @lex is awesome. Go skullfucker!

For 14.99, I think I may go ahead and just pay it off. I definately recommend preordering. I don't think GameCrazy stores will even get it unless it is preordered.

Haha thanks. I can't wait for TNA to go two hours hopefully Shelley will get some TV time.

Back to the pre-order thing, it's just better to be safe than sorry. We don't know how many copies of FPR Agetec is producing. If they are not making a lot of copies, I believe FPR is going to become rare really fast. So definitely get your pre-orders in now.

I guarantee you will have a blast with this game just playing by yourself. If you get friends to come over and play the experience will be even better. Eight player free for all matches with eliminations turned on are always fun.
Wish I wasn't so broke. I'd soooo buy this game.
You can't scrounge up $14.99 by Mid-November!?

I might even preorder this game and I tend to dislike wrestling games. Truth be told the only games I have played recently were WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006/2007 or something to that effect and I hated the button mashing more than anything else. It was such a pain.

For $15 though... and going by the praise I have heard about the Fire Pro Wrestling series over the years I think I shall take the plunge. That Beavis and Butthead vs Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar video really helped matters too. That was hilarious.

Awesome, I'm glad you liked that video. I wanted to throw that one in just to show everyone what can be done with FPR's edit mode. I've got all of the SFII characters, Chuck Norris, Rocky, and Mike Tyson on my game. I know Big Bird and Cookie Monster can be downloaded. Also, just to let you know, there is really no button mashing at all in this game. :D

I'm going to throw a few more videos on here.

i wanted to put some more vid's, but you got me beat... not much else on youtube, lol

would put fire pro d matches, but it'd be false advertisement... don't wanna get anyone's perceptions mixed (graphics, and matches are different)

Must be one of those BAGs (Broke Ass Gamers), much like myself

I bought an import Sega Saturn years ago just to be able to play SixMen Scramble(and, of course, Radiant Silvergun, but I digress). I've never had as much fun with any wrestling or fighting style game ever. I played Sabu vs. Cactus Jack in the exploding ring matches, along with The Eliminators (Saturn and Kronus) vs. The Pitbulls over and over and over and over. I can't friggin' wait for this game! Someone else mentioned it earlier, but this game and Powerful Pro Baseball both make me a VERY, VERY happy guy!!!

What's this "Powerful Pro Baseball" about? Never heard of it. Is it something new?

There are some more vids on there still. Just search for Fire Pro Wrestling and and bunch of FPR vids will pop up mixed in with SFPX, D, and G.

good to know, but no need to convince me, lol... i can't stand at lookin' at G, tho' (to spoiled by D)

Here's something crappy I just figured out that I bet some of you don't realize too. Ok so I went to preorder it through Amazon but it doesn't qualify by itself for free shipping because the order has to be over $25. Well I was wanting Knocked up on DVD too so I went ahead and ordered both together. However what I just figured out is for that free shipping to apply they have to ship TOGETHER. So even though Knocked Up is on DVD next week it wouldn't of shipped until Fire pro Wrestling came out in November! So whatever you're combining with this to get free shipping either better be coming out around the same time or you better not mind waiting. I went with CD Universe ($16.98 shipped) instead.

I've been hearing on another message board that gamestop/eb games will not be taking pre-orders on this game in-store since it is a budget title. You can pre-order it online though.

Just a heads up.
