Saw this topic on another forum and decided to post it here: Now that we're halfway into the year, what are your top 5 albums from January through June? (No leaked future albums allowed, Jan-Jun only)

And, what are your most anticipated albums for the rest of the year?

Mine:

5. Of Montreal - "Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer?"
4. Arcade Fire - "Neon Bible"
3. Modest Mouse - "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank"
2. Bright Eyes - "Cassadaga"
1. The Shins - "Wincing The Night Away"

Excited for:
Spoon, Interpol, The New Pornographers, VHS or Beta, The Go! Team, Metric, Andrew W.K., Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Black Rain by Ozzy Osbourne....the only cd I've bought so far this year
Really? I didn't like that album at all.

Since I love two of the five albums on your list, I'm probably going to check out the other three. Nice!

Well, not every song is a winner...but I was happy with my purchase overall. There's a couple really good songs, and the rest are either decent to "keep on repeat" and since Breaking Benjamin doesn't have a new cd out right now...it works :D plus really there isn't a whole lot out right now so he does kinda win by default I guess but yea it wasn't bad lol

1. Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris
2. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony - Strength & Loyalty
3. The White Stripes - Icky Thump
4. Talib Kweli - Ear Drum

I need to get my hands on the new Common and Kanye's Graduation.

reel big fish- "monkey's for nothing and the chimps for free"
modest mouse- "we were dead before the ship even sank"
kaiser chiefs- "the angry mob"
they might be giants- "the else"

excited for: bomb the music industry, bedouin soundclash, motion city soundtrack, new pornographers, streetlight manifesto (hopefully), less than jake (maybe)

Dunno if I can come up with 5. And my favorite album of the year was released last year, but I didn't discover it until this year: Silversun Pickups - Carnavas. Incredible cd. I have also been pleasantly surprised by The White Stripes - Icky Thump, since I haven't been a big fan of theirs in the past. I still don't care for EVERY song on it, but it has more good than bad.

As for my most anticipated, that's easily the new Pumpkins album releasing next week. I've even avoided looking for a leaked copy (which I'm sure I could find) because I want that fresh experience of putting an actual cd in & hearing it for the first time.

A couple other new releases I'm looking forward to are The Rentals' new EP and the new Portishead.

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
3 Inches of Blood - Fire Up the Blades
King Diamond - Give Me Your Soul....Please
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a blank planet

hasn't been much else to jiggle my balls the right way

It was disappointing.

So I have no faves unless I can think of something later.
Perhaps that last Andrew Bird.
