Grammar-
ok, it's a webforum. I understand that. I didn't capitlize the beginning of this paragraph - and here I used a hyphen wrong.
The aforementioned I can deal with.
But why don't we just set a few guidelines (and as I compose this post, I am aware of the potential ignorance of a certain population on CAG to which they may not be directly accountable) about grammar.
This is all I ask - The members of CAG attempt to use the words THERE, THEIR and THEY'RE (contraction of THEY ARE) correctly as well as the words YOUR and YOU'RE (contraction of YOU ARE).
Here is an example of how each word can be used:
There - as in "There are no english majors on CAG."
Their - as in "Their grammatical skills are terrible."
They're - as in "They're not going to be eating rabbit for dinner."
Your - as in "Your family does not value higher education."
You're - as in "You're clearly not equipped to be typing on a message board."
Now one my claim this to be anal or nitpicky considering the lacsidasical nature of "chatting" on a webforum. Some might claim that it is condescending or patronizing and to these people I would say that improper use of the terms at hand is just as bad or worse than 733t 5p34k or IM style acronymns (gr8! brb).
Not only is this improper execution an eyesore, it also seriously devalues any statement made by the person partaking in the blunder.
For example: If a young woman is on the Cheap Ass Gamer webforum and discussing a certain game or product, she should expect a certain level of respect on the basis that she is a human being and a member of the forum. On top of that respect, more respect or appreciation can be gained by contributing to the forum. Members who make valuable contributions (present party not considered in the least bit) gain more respect and appreciation. If said young female member presents her contribution and it is rife with grammatical errors so much so that it is either illegible or confusing, the case for appreciation or respect becomes fairly weak.
So when composing a post, please consider how goddamn ing stupid your ass can look when you're writing like a ten year old 'tard. There are lots of books that can help your two-juice-box-contemplation-kit and point out obvious grammatical blunders that I guess you just missed in elementary school. Perhaps people close to you have knowledge about grammar and they're willing to bring some sort of sense to that amazingly dense shit dumpster you call a head. Their spark will hopefully light the way for that last semblance of civilization left that was somehow lost in the dense cloud of your vacuous mind.
Yours truly,
