Formatting an external HDD.

I need help formatting my new external HDD, and before you say anything I did check google, but it has been anything buy clear. I want to be able to use my external for my 360, but its ntfs and apparently that is not picked up by the xbox. So I need to convert it to Fat32, well there was a program to do it Partition Magic, but alas it does not work on Vista.

Any help would be appreciated

You should just be able to right-click on the drive in My Computer and click "Format".

it formats as exfat and that doesnt read on the 360

how big is the hdd? i think fat32 is limited to 128gb.

This program swissknife will allow you to format in fat32 and is straight forward to use.

I just did this today.

SwissKnife would only let my passport be formated to FAT16 (what is that?). So I ran formatfat32.exe http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/FAT32format.shtml instead.

Only problem was that my 1TB Passport became a 417 gig passport, so I'm still trying to figure out what happened to half of the hdd.

no no no.. your all doing it wrong. I have a 1tb HDD and I formated 920GB in fat32 format for my Wii games.

Look under the section called: [Formatting] and look under the first one called: Formatting - Main Option

Try partition master. I used it to format a 2TB external drive to FAT32 with not problems.
