Forza Motorsport 4 - Official CAG Thread

Thanks to EA, Porsche cars will not be in Forza 4.

As someone who drives predominantly Porsche cars in FM3, this is a huge letdown for me. It's just about the worst thing that could have happened to FM4 to me, since now despite whatever improvements they have added, FM4 will always feel like a decidedly inferior experience because I can't drive my favorite cars. My only hope is that some DLC comes along later on, supposedly EA's license with Porsche runs out in 2012.

Porsche was one of the most well represented manufacturers in every Forza to date. It's a shame EA decided sub-licencing to MS wouldn't work this time. Man, now all the GT fanboys can say Forza doesn't have Porsche either.
 
I personally don't like Porsche that much, so its no big deal to me, but it does suck for the game and others.

What do people make all this whole Halo 4 Warthog thing then?

High Points/Thoughts that stuck out to me:

New York: GONE (Finally, geez, hate that track)
Sidewinder: GONE (didn't use that one either)
Le Mans-Bugatti: GONE (I'll miss this one)

It sounds like they're trying to address the AWD PI issues which is a good thing, but I'm sure there will be another exploit.

Gift cars for profile import have been announced, predictable but good cars.

There are now 14 new unicorn cars along with the same 3 from FM3. At least the 2 I got in FM3 will transfer over.

320 cars carried over from 3, 90 from FM3 DLC, and 90 all new cars, plus monthly DLC AND day one muscle car pack for free for LCE buyers.

Other day 1 DLC includes benchmark track and top gear soccer field (code included in all new copies of the game)

On top of all that there's a lot of physics/tire modeling discussion in there if that's your thing.
 
I just got Forza 3 Ultimate in the mail last night, I forgot how great this game was. I will be grinding it trying to get everything before Forza 4 which I will be buying day 1.
 
I just moved to a town with 315 people no real high speed internet so no xbl so Forza is something I can actually play

is it a fanatec? worth the $250?

i bought the wireless xbox wheel to play F1 2011. its "ok". want to invest in something better though

Yes and yes. The wheel is great, their customer service sucks. My buddy was missing a piece for the shifter and went around and around with them. I'm not sure if he ever got it actually.
 
The demo confirms that Turn 10 just "gets it." Can't wait to kill hours with car porn starting next week. Buy the limited edition if you are at all interested in sinking time into this game. Trust me, I lamented my decision to forego the LE for FM3.
 
Whats the demo like? I just moved house and won't have internet for a few weeks.. God I can't wait for this game! I have £40 game credit waiting with its name on it!
 
I like to fly by win most of the race, and when I know I won...

...180 it Tokyo Drift style and go 100+ mph into another car head on lol

The demo is good. I'm playing with all assists off and an old xbox FFB wheel and it's much more realistic than FM3 in my opinion. If you start to lose the rear end it is tough to recover, especially in a high powered car like the 458. The muscle car in the demo shows off how much body roll and weight transfer is present this time. It took me 4-5 races to get used to the physics changes, I've definitely not mastered them though. The new Bernese Alps track is fun but difficult, it requires a lot of high speed finesse. Can't wait for the full game, coming in one week!
 
Downloaded the beta for BF3, played for a few days, uninstalled it. Downloaded Forza 4 demo, oh my gawwd! I'm unemployed and so want this game lol.

Just went and paid for my preorder in full. I was going to hold off on this game, (so many other games I still need to play plus so many other games I got preordered. Cancelled a few of them (Kinect titles) and made my preorder and paid it off in full. I was hoping to get the collectors edition because it looks pretty sick and I had the collectors for 3, but it's sold out everywhere.

CAN'T WAIT TILL TUESDAY!
 
You guys hear of any deals? I know GS has some DLC cars as a pre-order bonus, but I much rather prefer some kind of gift card.

I haven't heard of any real deals. Different stores have different pre-order bonus cars. GS has an Alfa, Best Buy has a BMW 1M, Amazon has a 2011 WRX... there's a couple others but that's all that comes to mind. I haven't heard of any gift card deals... I'd say it's doubtful being a first party game but Halo Reach gave a $20 card at best buy it's debut week so there may be hope. I have the LCE pre-ordered and paid full price, had to make sure I got the LCE!

A little bit OT but I don't really understand why people pre-pay for preorders? You're basically just giving the game store a free loan with zero percent interest while they for the game to come out. In the meanwhile they just go ahead and start earning interest or otherwise investing your money without giving anything back to you. Sure the amounts are small to you, but Gamestop collecting thousands (or even millions) of preorders... it adds up for them. Besides, it's the principle of the thing. The game store would never consider giving the game to me before I paid in full, why would I consider giving them my money before they have a game to give to me?

I'm not even that big a fan of putting down a deposit, and if I ever do preorder a game I try to do it at a place like amazon that doesn't charge until the game ships- but pre-paying in full the game is truly beyond me. Am I alone in this thinking?

Anyway, back on topic, how's the Forza 4 demo? I was going to get it but ever since the announcement of no Porsche in FM4 I have lost enough interest that I am not going to go through the effort of downloading and installing the demo. Plus I have a lot of stuff I have to get done between now and when FM4 is released so I figured it was better that I just not bother :)

Most people pre-order because you get exclusive DLC. GS gives out one kind, BB gives out another, etc etc. It's really not rocket science. In fact, if you have been around video games long enough, you should know why people pre-order them.

Far as the demo, you seem like you formed an opinion against the game early on because they left Porsche out of the game and you have other things going on. So would it really matter what anyone says about the game? And if you are really curious, download the demo and see for yourself.

hmm. ive been playing F1 2011 with my xbox wheel. it works great so far!

anyway im skipping on forza. f1 2011 feels more intense! will consider it when the price drops though
