If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!
dallascowboys

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.

You weren't kidding. Ok I found this on page 28. All credit goes to jacknicklson for the original faq (1-6).

ECA/Amazon FAQ

1. I can't get into the member's area/can't find out where to pay. Help!

After the initial registration email, you should receive a second email linking you to a payment page. You can request that this email be resent if need be. Make sure to check your junk/spam folders as well.

2. Will this work on consoles?

No. Games and most accessories only. Physical point cards are also eligible, but not digital point codes.

3. Do these work on Quick Picks/Deals of the Day/Trade-in Coupons?

Yes, Yes, and Yes!

4. How do I get my Quick Picks to show games?

http://betterelevation.com/2009/02/1...old-box-trick/
This should be a basis to get it to work for whatever you are interested in. It is not a science though so be persistent.

5. Does this work on Pre-orders?

Yes, it does. The price will also automatically take off 10% of whatever the final selling point is due to the Pre-Price Guarantee that Amazon offers.

6. I have heard that these offers have expired/been removed, is this true?

There have been a few instances where codes expired or they ran out but The ECA and Amazon have usually rectified the situation within a week or so. Also, the Terms of Service state that any membership benefits can change or be canceled without any notice so keep that in mind when signing up.

7. Double and Triple stacking

This is no longer possible. Don't bother trying. Originally when the ECA would run out of codes and switch to a new batch members were able to stack codes. A glitch in Amazon's system would keep older codes in your account, and it was possible to add codes from the newer batches to obtain more than 10% off. Amazon found out about this, hence the reason the codes are currently down/ being worked on.

8. Begging/Asking for codes

This is not allowed. If you beg/ask for a code you will be permabanned. No questions asked.

9. Selling codes

Definitely a big no no. If you do this, you will get reported to the ECA and your account will be shut down.

10. If I make a pre-order with a code a cancel it, will the code still work?

Yes. Codes should remain in your account but again they will no longer stack. It is one code per game. Amazon and the ECA are working on codes tied into our accounts but this option is not yet available.

11. If I already have a pre-order made, can I add a 10% off code to it?

You can not add a anything to an order once it is made except a gift card. You can try emailing Amazon customer support and ask them to add it. Generally they have no issue doing this for you but it's a crap shoot.

12. What if I already have a pre-order with the old codes applied? Should I be worried?

We don't know definitively, but chances are good that Amazon will not touch the pre orders we have already made.

^... maybe I should cancel my COD MW2 PE and "try" save another $15? but I'll risk my $75 (50% coupon).
Not worth the risk, and it would only at most be an extra $5, since you probably ordered it before/during the $10 Video Game promotion which CoD MW2 is part of, so you'll get $10 back when it ships. That won't happen if you cancel and reorder...

As long as you applied the code to your account, it will still be active if you cancel the order and immediately re-order it. I dunno how long that will last, but myself and others (even a few posts up) have already done this.

I have like 5 of the codes from ECA, they are not stacking though for Amazon.

I'm trying to get Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2, but even when I ordered and cancelled and ordered again it still only lets me use one promotion code, any help here please.......

Thanks
If you don't have the old codes(from a week+ ago), you can't stack, period.
Ok I just hopped on board rite now, so since I don't have last weeks codes I guess I'm out of luck.....

God will you shut up. Wasting a code? How did he waste it? As long as it's in his cart, it is GOOD. Oh he has 2 codes in his cart? News flash, if he makes 2 separate orders(say one today, one in a week), BOTH codes will still be there and apply to each individual order. Do you even realize how any of this shit works before you open your mouth to condemn the next person posting on this thread?

You guys are pushing the limits that io put in place. He's warned you twice. JohnDoe, cut it out. Did you get your codes? Let everyone else do what they want with theirs. Stop commenting about "wasting" codes. Enough. You'll end up not being allowed on CAG if you keep it up.

I'd say it's about time to start a new thread. This is getting OLD!!!

Wow, I just stumbled back onto this thread and read about the canceling and re-ordering. I figured what the hell and just canceled and re-ordered my DJ Hero Renegade Edition. Knocked off an extra $20. After using all discounts and trad-ins it now cost me a wopping $6.99 with release-date delivery. Thank you CAG.

lol, well I don't know what just happened.... I'm just like most people here trying to find the best deals on games.

Since I do not have older codes only new ones from today ( haven't been online in a while) I guess this doesn't apply to me.

I guess I will just Ebay Modern Warfare 2 ;)

All Good

MODS PLEASE DELETE MY ACCOUNT!!! I will not tolerate this bullshit anymore and you know what, some of you including the persons who run this site, may be looking at a lawsuit. So we'll see what you guys want to do now, delete my account please!

lol i'm just trying to figure out what this lawsuit would be about. being insulted?

back on topic, i was thinking about actually canceling and reordering all of my pre orders, but all of them have goldbox discounts, so if i canceled and reordered i would only save 5% more, which isn't worth the hassle.

Lol at "delete my account". It's like all the people at blockbuster who get mad at me that they, gasp, owe money for things they never returned. When they tell me to cancel their account, I say I can't, just stop using it. Probably just pisses them off.

sorry for being a hassle but can someone confirm if cancelling an order with a 50% applied gets the promotional credit back?. i'm just super excited.
sorry for being a hassle but can someone confirm if cancelling an order with a 50% applied gets the promotional credit back?. i'm just super excited.
yes although i'd advise re ordering immediately to be sure. i had ordered tekken 6 bundle with 50% off and an old eca code (so it cost me $60). earlier i canceled and reordered immediately with a new eca code and it went down to $45

The chance to use your 50% again? Surprisingly, a lot of people have some big ones on CAG, because they chanced it and so far a lot of people have been posting "success" on getting the code back and using it on something else. Haven't seen someone get screwed, yet.
Is no one concerned that abusing the ECA codes may lead to... changes?
They already changed it to 1 code per day.
Is no one concerned that abusing the ECA codes may lead to... changes?
If by "changes" you mean "totally fucking up upcoming promotions, discounts, and sales on both Amazons and The ECA's end", you would be right.

Of course most people are living in the now so they want to justify this.

and that was before people started stacking...

Or that it has already been posted on Slickdeals.net so its going to be abused by the masses there. Why not let a CAG actually be a cheap ass and save as much as he/she can???

Just some stuff I was asked to pass on...

They did load a bigger than normal batch of Amazon codes ("substantially larger") this time... it's a balancing act of how many to request from Amazon but hopefully they don't deplete quite so fast.

And I don't quite know the specifics of this, but they have received reports of credit card fraud that they're seriously investigating and will be taking action against. I have NO IDEA if this means about ECA memberships, or somehow abusing Amazon, or possibly both-- but if you're thinking of doing something stupid, DON'T! (AFAIK this wasn't aimed at CAG specifically but I'm just reporting what's been said)

Thanks for reading. :)

Honestly I don't see how screwing up and letting the 10% codes, ones that amazon has been offering for how long now, stack and end up as 20% codes would stop them from offering the basic 10%. I could see fixing of orders, or letting what has been ordered gone through but fixing the code issue asap, or a stop to all eca codes and a re-issued batch that is guaranteed not to stack.

It's not like amazon is a parent. I don't see why they would suddenly take away all your regular toys because you grabbed some extra cookies behind their back, they'll just lock the cookie jar.

Well on their forums, some morons were saying to do chargebacks, cancel the eca membership and start a new one at another e-mail address with the free trial code. I know the active mod was pruning those posts as that is fraud.

^chargeback??? That's a major cheapass. I'm pretty sure most of the paying member including me already got the $15 or $19 worth it.

Yup.

To be fair, it would suck to sign up and the next day have literary another 100000 members join for free. I understand that, but it sucks just as much to buy a new computer and 2 weeks later the next video cards are released and yours drops to half price. I wouldn't expect nvidia to reimburse me. (or even worse, go and steal my video card's worth from some guy's wallet that works there)

Seriously, douche is such the right word here.

LOL EVEN MORE HILARIOUS

I generally do not combine shipping charges; however, I can make exceptions. If you eca interested in multiple auctions, please contact me and I might be able to work with you code.

Bold/italics/underlined/colored for your ease of finding.

Typo, or Freudian slip? =P

Well, I don't know about the chargebacks, but I do know that my credit card number was comprimised shortly after I joined the ECA. I have my card and have no idea of course who ended up getting my number and from where, but I wonder if they have some internal housekeeping to do? ;) (Note that of course it could be any number of other places and no doubt my number was stored in countless databases so I'm not implying any connection with the ECA - just the credit card fraud discussion made me think of that).

Someone got through a charge for $270 to some place called "Western Beef" in NY. Then they tried $850 at Best Buy but that got shot down. I'm in the process of appealing that $270 charge now and had to get a new number and all that. fucking bastards...

Wow, way to make me scared io. Just describe the monster hiding under my bed while you're at it. Oh and...
Someone got through a charge for $270 to some place called "Western Beef" in NY.
I guess that finally answers the question, "Where's the beef?". Apparently, in the west.

Got Halo ODST for $43.99+tax. Plus the $10 credit I'll get when it ships. Sweet. Brings the game to the price that it should have been before Bungie got extra greedy.
Wow, way to make me scared io. Just describe the monster hiding under my bed while you're at it. Oh and...

(This "Western Beef" was in NY though ;))

Plus, the funny thing is that my family is vegetarian, so that one wasn't gonna fly for very long. Though to their credit, Wells Fargo caught it before I ever saw the charge and suspended the account. I had trouble using it and called in to find out about it. Still, though, the charge showed up on my next statement even though they said they'd take care of it and I had to resubmit my claim - kind of annoying.

If the thief had known me a little better he would have tried some place like Target instead .

But I've gone through this 3 or 4 times before and it's never that much trouble - the charges are always reversed eventually. So don't worry about that sort of thing too much. My Dad won't buy things online because he's worried about getting his numbers stolen. But then, well, you lose out on a lot of convenience. Interestingly enough, the biggest hassle for me was that I had bought several clearance games at Fry's and Target and when I wanted to return some of them I realized it was on the old number and I had to get store credit instead of a refund to my CC.

From the ebay listing:

If you eca interested in multiple auctions, please contact me and I might be able to work with you code.

I found it amusing...
"Coupon will be mailed immediately. You are paying for the time for me to locate and clip these coupons, not for the coupons themselves." - Asshole from auction

lol, still reported
Yep, I still reported him as well, to both The ECA and eBay. What kind of douche sells coupons?
Got Halo ODST for $43.99+tax. Plus the $10 credit I'll get when it ships. Sweet. Brings the game to the price that it should have been before Bungie got extra greedy.
Dang, how'd you manage that, I still had $60 before the $10 off, and $5 off. Game was like $59.99 - ECA + Release-Date Shipping, which pretty much cancel each other out. No tax in CA but I'd still like to know how you got $43.99 without calculating the $10 as well.

The best I can get is $59.99 - GB/QP ($3.00) - ECA ($6.00) + Free Shipping, which would still be $50.99. Then if you subtract the $5 MP3, $5 Game Coupon, and $10 Game Coupon, you'll be at $30.99. But still, are you subtracting something I'm not aware of?

$43.99 sounds like you got the 10% off and it went to $53.99, and then got $10 off and it went to $43.99. Hmmm...maybe it was a typo on your part, or maybe you were just lucky.

Still, I'm happy with $20 in MP3/Game Credits after the fact.
Yep, I still reported him as well, to both The ECA and eBay. What kind of douche sells coupons?
For all the previously discussed reasons, I agree that this guy should not be selling the ECA codes- plain wrong. However, coupon selling happens all the time. Example- American Express cardholders sometimes get 10% Home Depot coupons in the mail. Some folks, if they are not going to use them, sell the coupons on ebay. One can usually be had for between $10-$20. Most coupons cap the savings limit at $350. If you're buying a refrigerator, that's a lot of savings.

So yes, explicitly wrong to sell ECA codes, but there are coupon sales that legitimately benefit both the seller and buyer.

Agreed.

Other coupons do not have any disclaimer against selling like the ECA codes:
"The resale of ECA member benefits is a breach of the ECA Membership Agreement and will result in the immediate termination of such person's membership without remuneration."
