If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!
dallascowboys

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.

You weren't kidding. Ok I found this on page 28. All credit goes to jacknicklson for the original faq (1-6).

ECA/Amazon FAQ

1. I can't get into the member's area/can't find out where to pay. Help!

After the initial registration email, you should receive a second email linking you to a payment page. You can request that this email be resent if need be. Make sure to check your junk/spam folders as well.

2. Will this work on consoles?

No. Games and most accessories only. Physical point cards are also eligible, but not digital point codes.

3. Do these work on Quick Picks/Deals of the Day/Trade-in Coupons?

Yes, Yes, and Yes!

4. How do I get my Quick Picks to show games?

http://betterelevation.com/2009/02/1...old-box-trick/
This should be a basis to get it to work for whatever you are interested in. It is not a science though so be persistent.

5. Does this work on Pre-orders?

Yes, it does. The price will also automatically take off 10% of whatever the final selling point is due to the Pre-Price Guarantee that Amazon offers.

6. I have heard that these offers have expired/been removed, is this true?

There have been a few instances where codes expired or they ran out but The ECA and Amazon have usually rectified the situation within a week or so. Also, the Terms of Service state that any membership benefits can change or be canceled without any notice so keep that in mind when signing up.

7. Double and Triple stacking

This is no longer possible. Don't bother trying. Originally when the ECA would run out of codes and switch to a new batch members were able to stack codes. A glitch in Amazon's system would keep older codes in your account, and it was possible to add codes from the newer batches to obtain more than 10% off. Amazon found out about this, hence the reason the codes are currently down/ being worked on.

8. Begging/Asking for codes

This is not allowed. If you beg/ask for a code you will be permabanned. No questions asked.

9. Selling codes

Definitely a big no no. If you do this, you will get reported to the ECA and your account will be shut down.

10. If I make a pre-order with a code a cancel it, will the code still work?

Yes. Codes should remain in your account but again they will no longer stack. It is one code per game. Amazon and the ECA are working on codes tied into our accounts but this option is not yet available.

11. If I already have a pre-order made, can I add a 10% off code to it?

You can not add a anything to an order once it is made except a gift card. You can try emailing Amazon customer support and ask them to add it. Generally they have no issue doing this for you but it's a crap shoot.

12. What if I already have a pre-order with the old codes applied? Should I be worried?

We don't know definitively, but chances are good that Amazon will not touch the pre orders we have already made.

...did you read any of the previous pages/posts lol? Codes are down because of a stacking glitch that they're fixing (meaning this most likely SHOULDN'T work anymore). Codes should be up in about a day or so.

Edit: Btw, run while you can, cause it looks like you just threw yourself into the fire :)
No, I didn't. :) However, fixing the stacking glitch and bringing the codes back is a mild bummer, but not exactly the end of the world. They are bringing the codes back and we will still get our promised benefit. If you weren't able to take advantage of double ECA before, the situation hasn't changed for you and no one who did take advantage of it did anything to affect your future ECA amazon savings.

apparently they have only screwed up their system more, because i haven't been able to stack codes until just right now, and i got on after the free membership code went up. One code was already applied to my account, automatically came up on my checkout, decided to try another, and bam, there she was.

Re-preordered MW2, with two eca it's like every other game with one eca because those bastards at activision apparently won't let it go into quick picks or let amazon mark it down 5% like every other game in existence. that's how i justify it lol. unless that's amazon's doing, then i feel kinda less good.
They are bringing the codes back and we will still get our promised benefit.
There is no promised benefit, the membership benefits can be terminated or changed at any time without notice.

I accidentally stacked a coupon when I ordered an extra dualshock controller the other day. I canceled my order because it amazon said it wouldn't ship for several weeks. I re-ordered it using the amazon prime membership and thought I had to re-enter the code. Oh well lol.

I'll be happy to get the 10% off only. That's what I joined ECA for. I'm suprised Amazon didn't just adjust my bill. I would have been fine with that ($35 for a dualshock is still a great price).
ECA n00b question: do the coupon codes also work on hardware? I'm seriously pondering upgrading to the Modern Warfare Elite 360.
No just games and game accesories like controllers and headsets.

Is it just me, or is the ECA site not generating codes right now? I don't have that option on my ECA page right now and GoW Collection just popped up in my Amazon gold box so I wanted to grab that.

Read the thread!, just try a little. U don't have to read 100 pages, just the last 3-5 pages.

My bad, I only read the most recent page and didn't see any mention ... well I guess I hope it comes back online today so I can grab that out of my goldbox on amazon.

I don't visit this site every day so I had no idea about the stacking. I got 1 code around a week ago(my first) which saved me a whopping 2.00 on a game I wanted. I went to get another code yesterday to order another game and noticed there were no codes. On a whim I came here to see if anyone else was talking about it. Now I know the deal...
Shame on those who abused the system.
Shame on The ECA, who gave memberships away for free after many of us paid $20.
My opinion in the stacking debate is pretty simple, anyone with half a brain had to know that it would eventually be caught and stopped. Anyone with a whole brain would understand that there was a reasonable chance that, ultimately, Amazon and/or ECA could cancel the program because of it.

Now, they may fix it, never cancel the program and everyone is happy.

However, that doesn't change the fact that this is an EXCELLENT program that caters to gamers on NEW GAMES (not a lot of programs like that) and it can be very exceptional when combined with Amazon's other good to great pre-order deals.

Quite simply, for the thinking man, a long term view would dictate that the risk to save a few bucks today would not merit potentially losing the program in the long run.

In sum, I am not judging anyone. As far as I know my kids aren't posting on this message board so I am not your father. Do what you want to do.

However, just because you can do something doesn't always mean you should or that its a good idea.
Well said! No one should be surprised this was going to happen.
First ECA gives out memberships for free. Then the code stacking abuse (Epic Fail due to Greed!).

Mods: You're removing some posts but leaving Lanman's quoted post? Interesting.

If you canceled an order, the old code went back into your account. You didn't have a choice whether you wanted to stack or not. So I wouldn't say greed was everyone's motivation, especially for those of us who actaully paid for membership into the ECA.
A single use code, applicable to one Amazon account for a year is what was needed from the beginning. Perhaps this snafu will motivate the powers that be down that path.

I know the feeling. I've used 2 ECA codes since I've had my membership (both on games under $20). I want to order Demon Soul's CE today and now the codes are down. Would really be nice if they come back up today.

Can I get a hookup too?

Whatever it is please.

Anyway, I joined today too and kind'a bummed I couldn't use a code on Amazon today. Really looking forward to getting NBA 2K10.

You joined today and you'll get banned today. Fun!

Noooooo, finally when Uncharted 2 popped up in my gold box and was going to order Demon's Souls, the codes are not working T_T

Jejeje, this is why it ALWAYS helps to read the op. LOL :applause:

haha, just as soon as I was going to order either NBA Live or 2K10. Luckily I'm indecisive so hopefully the code will come back by the time I've made a decision.

Nooooooooo. Anyone know a way of saving the freakin goldbox. Of course the game I want appears when the damn codes aren't working :(. Also, can anyone answer this question. I know Amazon only charges for pre-orders when they are shipped, but what if I pre-order a group of games at the same time with different release dates. What/when do I get charged?

Just answered your own question
How so? I mean if I order three at once so lets say its $179.99, then one game comes out earlier, how will Amazon charge me?
If you have multiple games across a single order and they all have different release dates, they'll split them off into individual orders when they're ready to ship out. Sometimes they do that in advance.

Regardless, if you have three items that will all end up shipping at different times, you'll get three orders with their proportion of the total cost billed out when the item ships out.
How so? I mean if I order three at once so lets say its $179.99, then one game comes out earlier, how will Amazon charge me?
You are billed for each item when THAT respective item ships.
You are billed for each item when THAT respective item ships.
Thus, even if the first game has shipped out you can still cancel the other games in the order and not get charged for them as their shipping dates are later.

As you said, you get charged when the game ships. Are you buying a game bundle for $180, or are you buying three separate games for $180?

I think the codes are gone for good. I just tried ordering a game from Amazon and at the check-out page, a 10% off promotion code automatically applied. I tried to use a fresh # code from ECA I generated using my own account a few days ago before they were gone, and there's an error message that says the code has expired.

So I think the ECA membership is finally linked to your Amazon account so you don't have to enter codes anymore and the 10% discount automatically applies.

Anyone else has a similar experience?

You might have just had a previously entered code lingering in your account. I don't know how they would have found out my amazon account information.

Same here. I just placed the order for the game I was wanting and it knocked off 10%.

The triple stack is dead. Now my codes are double stacking. I'm sure they will be single stacked by the morning. I didn't plan on ordering, but I just checked.

Updated post. I didn't know it wasn't allowed :whistle2:#

fack... lost my chance at saving an extra 20 bucks amazon credit.
well hopefully they fix they codes so they will be available at all times.

Well, I'm glad I made one last preorder last night for Magnacarta 2 (using whatever codes were sitting on my account) even though I have no idea how good the game is going to be (no press this close to release does not bode well).

I still have a second preorder of R&C that I was going to cancel and apply to something else but oh well... Not sure what I should do with that now.
Dang, should've entered the codes I generated a few days ago.
Doesn't matter - the codes that I ENTERED are now gone from the system.

EDIT: I'm not that bothered because I made a big double stacked preorder of, well, lets just say almost 20 games coming in the next year - for security of course.
