Hey guys. I know I'm not a usualy PC section poster. But I have to share this game with you guys. This is especially directed for those of you who have played Infantry a long time ago during beta [before Sony Online Entertainment began charging monthly fees].

There is a free server for Infantry. The community is still growing and needs more participants. The usual number during peak times is around 90.

For those not familiar with the game. It is a top down 3rd person shooter with a couple mmorpg aspects. The graphics are similar to that of diablo, but with a sci-fi flare. There are different zones, or rather types of play. These zones usually involve capturing flags or simply killing others.

I'll try to put more information about this game if anyone else is interested.

The server is based somewhere in the US and living in California, the connection to the server is very smooth. Even though this game came out around 2000, it still has it's addictive gameplay after all these years.
 
Ok guys, I put a link to a partially complete promo video for infantry. Hopefully it'll spark some interest in more of you. Trust me, this is a jewel of a game and definitely cannot be passed up.
 
ok, going to bump this thread. The private servers now reside at freeinfantry.com. Sony Online Entertainment also has free infantry however they do not update their client.

This game is essentially the 2d top down version of planetside.
 
Infantry Online is still my favorite online game. SOE's version is now free again, but they don't have any good zones up...

People used to play this game on dial up way before. However the download of the maps might take a while.
