You have to add a rental to your "cart" before you use the code. So:

1. Find which movie you want to rent.

2. Select "Rent HD". (Because who'd want an SD rental when the HD one is free as well)

3. On the box that opens up, click "checkout".

4. Add the promo code in the space provided, and click "apply".

5. Complete the order for your free rental.

Happened to me as well. I am guessing the codes are all used up. Oh well...
